I found this phone number tied to a Bank of America transaction that was showing up on my account around the same dates.  They withdrew $19.95 this and last month around the 20th.  I immediately reported and disputed this.

This number showed up on my BOA statement.  The bank asked for me to call the company to try to get it straightened out so I did.  The insurance company said they sent us some policy information but since we didn't send back paperwork declining coverage they started charging the account.  One, we don't recall any paperwork arriving.  Two, they have our account on file to charge and the only way they could have that is if the bank gave it to them.

This number showed up on my BOA statement for $11.95.  called the bank and The bank asked for me to call the company to try to get it straightened out so I did.  The Insurance Service Center said they will send us some policy information. that will not happen but that is OK because we blocked the bank account number they are not getting any more. unfortunately no one else is till we let them know the new number

Showed up on my BOA Bank Statement too. I called that number and was able to cancel the policy while on the phone. They sent me information for 30 days free on some accident insurance and dummy me didn't cancel after the darn 30 days. Bah! Glad this site was here so I knew what the heck it was. Next time those Bozos call and say we are doing this as a courtesy to our BOA customers will get a big fat NO for an answer. What a PITA!!

Same thing -- I noticed a $19.95 debit, called the company and was told  hubby had ok'd the policy and withdrawals verbally. I also see monthly debits for $29.95 from "866-440-0456. This # also belongs to AIG, and also sells to B of A customers.  Hubby remembers receiving one call, but says he agreed only to look at information, never to have a policy or debits made from our checking account. I demanded proof from AIG -- a copy of his signature or a copy of any recorded confirmation they claimed to have.  Today one of the "policies" arrived -- no signature, no recording, no proof. I am irate that B of A supplies insurance companies with our names, allows the telemarketer to use the "reputable" B of A name to gain trust, and then refuses responsibility or refunds older than 60 days!! If Bank of America does not refund all fraudulent withdrawals from my account, I will switch banks immediately.  The Texas Insurance Fraud Hotline # is 888-327-8818.  If anyone knows how I can also report this to whatever entity oversees banks, please list it here. Bad publicity is the only way B of A will make our accounts good.  Let's all do whatever we have to do to publicize this it's just wrong!!

Been charged $19.95 for insurance I never bought. Called the number at least twice and cancelled insurance. Still being charged. Apparently BOA and AIG need class action lawsuit. If you agree respond to this posting.

Has anyone figured out any action to take on this?  I've been holding for them for about the past 5 minutes (and this isn't the first time I've tried to call) and there is just no answer!

Same thing as all of you. I had only a certain amount of money left in my account after my husband was paid. I knew the bills I had paid and gas along with groceries I picked up. Well today my husband woke me before he left for work, upset because we were in the negative. I told him that can't be right. Come to find out my account was indeed charged $35.90. Which to begin with I only had $17.78, after they took my money without my permission, they left me in the negative of $18.12. I called BOA to tell them I don't remember spending this because I have never even heard of the place. I even asked the woman on the phone for the name of the place. She couldn't tell me. All she could do was give me a number to call. 1-866-237-8236. My sister helped me a little, I would have never thought to google the number. I honestly thought someone stole my account information and use it to buy them something under my name. Which in a sense they did steal my money. I never under any circumstances gave permission to take or order what ever this product is. I remember receiving the phone call a few months back and agreeing ONLY to look at the information. On top of that I never even got the information package. This still has yet to be resolved. I did call the number. They were closed, only open M-F. So I even tried to call back BOA, of coarse they are now closed. They closed at 5pm EST. First thing tomorrow morning I will be calling again. And again until I have been heard. I want to know why I was lied to by someone I was trusting in. I want to know how they could just let them go into my bank account without contacting me first. I want to know why the woman representing BOA could not tell me who this number really belonged to. I feel violated beyond belief. We switched to BOA thinking it was more reliable and safer to use. I am really second guessing myself. My husband is still at work and has no idea yet, that we have been robbed by the bank we bank with and trust.

Oh I forgot to mention, I NEVER EVEN GAVE THEM MY ACCOUNT NUMBER!!!!!!! Ever. I know we are not the only ones. There are probably a lot more people out there with the same problem. I just hope they can find this site to tell their story on. I am reporting them now to the BBB. For all you reading, good luck. We all are in need of it.

I too was ripped off by BOA. I was contacted via telephone by someone from Bank of America who verified my account by giving me my account information including my credit card account number, balance and last payment, so I assumed they were legit. They offered a credit protection service, even thought I declined they told me that they were going to send it to me anyway. They told me that they would send me an informational packet and if I didn't call them back at the BOA phone number they would begin charging my account in 30 days.  After two weeks of nothing from BOA, I contacted them and told them that someone from BOA had contacted me with only information that BOA agents should know and they informed me that I would not be charged for any credit protection services from them. Two weeks later my account was charged for $35.90 for IP INS PYMT 866-237-8236US.  I immediately called BOA formally disputed the charges over the phone and  in writing and promptly cancelled my credit card account with BOA; I went on to say that the charges are fraudulent and I was not going to pay them. They launched an investigation and determined that the charges were legitimate, I wonder why? If BOA had security problem, do you think they are willing to admit it, I seriously doubt it.

Well, today we received a letter from another Credit Card company explaining that we had too many accounts that were delinquent. We only have one, the fraudulent charges from Bank of America and because of these fraudulent charges they were going to cancel our account with them.

Catch this we don't carry any balances on any of our credit cards, except fraudulent charges that is. We had an excellent credit rating until BOA started messing with our credit score. Well two can play that game. If you are seriously interested in forming a class action lawsuit let it begin with me. Contact me via email at proudpapa@satx.rr.com and we'll see if we if we can get enough people together to get something done on this.
    Thank you,

My girl also got that 35.90 thing charged and I helped her to call the company and asked for a refund. surprisingly, that lady who answered the phone said "okay" without giving me a hard time.

    Still, that company sucks!

Looks like a scam, smells like one, it is.  My son's account was charged $29.95 then $5.95 for "Custsomer Years Des 866 237 8236 - He went to meet with the bank manager today at BOA - she didn't know anything about the company or anything else.  Trying to get it resolved, but reading these posts, looks like a battle.  I'm going to post of facebook also - a warning to all.  Then when I got around to the mail tonight, there was a letter from AIG, dated 12/3/09 - same date as withdrawals - requesting information for a change of beneficiary.  Glad everyone posted something, now I can show him and advise him what to do.  Thanks!

I have the same problem. The company sent me a policy which I sent back before the thirty days. I cancelled the policy and the insurance company is still withdrawing $18.95 from my BOA account.  I am very angry and will approach BOA about this,

    THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM!

If you have been contacted by this number, you better check your bank account. If you are a Bank of America customer, contact the bank IMMEDIATELY!!!

I share the same story with most here, and this is what I suggest you do if you are or have been charged with a fee payable to Customer Years (the actual name of the company is Coverdell) out of your Bank of America account.

    HOW THE SCAM WORKS
Bank of America offers your contact information to companies like Coverdell (Customer Years) so that they can provide you with services, such as life insurance policies, that you may be interested or benefit from. Of course, Bank of America receives a share of the profits for sharing this information with these companies. You can prevent Bank of America from sharing your information with other companies by contacting the bank and "opting out."
Once Coverdell (Customer Years) has your information, they will use yet another company to actually contact you regarding the services offered. This third party company, called GCS, is a telemarketing company. The only contact GCS make with you is, not surprisingly, through a phone call. Neither GCS, Coverdell (Customer Years) or Bank of America have any written confirmation of your agreement to take up the services. The only agreement is a verbal confirmation that you allegedly gave over the phone. Therefore, you should be particularly skeptical if you have been contacted by this number at all!!

    WHAT TO DO
    1. Contact Bank of America's customer service (1.800.432.1000) and request cancellation of the automatic payment to Coverdell (Customer Years).

    2. Ask to be transferred to the claims department (there's no direct number) and file a fraud claim with Bank of America regarding the unauthorized transaction(s). If you use online banking, you should be able to see how often you have been robbed from your money; otherwise, ask the agent to run a history check to see how many times there was a transaction involving Coverdell (Customer Years).

    3. Contact Coverdell's (Customer Years) customer service (1.866.237.8236) and ask to speak with Supervisor Jay Johnson, extension #4260. It is crucial that you take this final step, because there is no signed agreement, the point of this call is to request for Coverdell (Customer Years) to provide you with the recording of your verbal agreement. They will honor your request and contact you back within a few days and play back the recording containing your agreement. At this time, you should also ask to cancel your policy, whatever it may be, with them.

    ADDITIONALLY
As I said before, Bank of America is not liable; however, it is unfair that the bank actually endorses this type of deceptive business practice and even gets a share from doing so. Therefore, you should file a complaint with the bank regarding this issue. Unfortunately, your calls requesting the stop payment and the fraud claim will do nothing to prevent this from happening to other innocent people. So you should keep this in mind and take some time to actually file a dissatisfaction complaint regarding this practice and the bank's association with Coverdell (Customer Years).
This will be a bit more time consuming because you will have to explain to the agent your entire story... and you SHOULD tell him/her EVERYTHING!
When you initially call, the agent will tell you he/she does not know what you are talking about. Do NOT give up. Tell your story!!! Bank of America uses a system called Flagscape. Ask the agent to look up Coverdell (Customer Years) under Flagscape. The agent will freak when you mention Flagscape because general customers do not know about it. Flagscape is the system that houses all of the companies that Bank of America associates with, so the agent will be able to find Coverdell's (Customer Years) information and properly file your complaint.

    THANK YOU
I hope this information is helpful and I also hope you take time to help make things better for yourself and others. You may think that $29.95 is not worth complaining about, but when you multiply that number by the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people who are being scammed, the issue becomes a great cause to fight for.
