- J| 1 replyThis is a legitimate company. They recover student loan debt. Go the website:http://www.finaid.org/loans/collectionagencies.phtml and you will see:
FMS Investment Corp. (dba Financial Management Systems) (founded 1992). For more information, write to Financial Management Systems, PO Box 1423, Elk Grove Village, IL 60009-1423 or call 1-800-889-6321. Listed as one of their collection agencies. The girl I spoke with gave me the 866-296-7956 and her extension.
According to their website, http://www.fmsdc.com/home they collect in the private and government sector. So they are trying to collect on some sort of debt.- Caller: Financial Management Systems

What you need to do is send a certified letter to Cease and desist..... http://www.debtletter.com/sample-letters.html <----- there are some sample letters here...and I think a form on one of the FDCPA sites - i couldn't find it just now but I know I ran across it. Anyways - Legit company but really on the edge of whats proper in this situation.

Make up your mind Ex. Those statements can't both be true. - 40Kstudentloans replies to Sir Bedevere| 3 repliesI think she was being sarcastic with that first line.....at least I hope so. These idiots have been trying to get me for years my family just tells them I'm in a mental ward that fends them off for a few months.
- LMAO replies to 40Kstudentloans| 2 repliesTrying to avoid the situation doesn't solve anything. Eventually involuntary actions will be taken and your money will be garnished one way or another. Honestly do you think by taking a loan and not paying it back that the government will let you get away with it. Also this messes with your creit. So good luck to you. If I were in your shoes I would rather try to avoid involuntary actions from being taken against me......
- Resident47 replies to LMAO| 1 reply... which is partly why I take specific voluntary actions when strangers on the phone say they want money for a debt. I record their calls, I answer their letters, I demand validation, I state how and when not to call me, and I sue them when my rights are denied.
I find that most debt collectors want "to avoid the situation" when I am active in my defense. They either quit trying to collect or they ignore what my Certified Mail says and blunder on through multiple FDCPA violations. Then when I offer violators a chance to settle, they still "avoid the situation" by not responding. Then when named as "Defendant" their "rising star" lawyers continue "trying to avoid the situation" through cheap buyoffs and scare tactics, doing anything to prevent a trial on the merits. All they want is to pay out some hush money and get away with more sins. High judgments and black marks in the court records mess with their insurance rates. Good luck trying to turn this into another dreary lecture in "responsibility". - LMAO replies to Resident47No lecture. Just know its federal loans and the government will get their money one way or another. simply put.
- KitDebt collector calling anyone with the same last name. Even if you don't owe any companies anything the call and won't take you off their list
- jjj replies to KFirst of all they are calling people and lying about why they are calling. They act like the person they are calling about has given permission to call. Scam, scam, scam.
