I looked at a missed call from this number 866-307-7745, and listened to the voicemail that was left and this is verbatim: "I received this automated voicemail, this is verbatim: "Pleadings against your name, so the next 24 hours we will be marking a lien on your assets and your bank account due to your inability to settle your dues with the IRS. A bill collection officer will visit you soon to complete the paperworks. If you have any questions, then please call our tax default line 866-307-7745. I repeat 866-307-7745. If you want to talk to one of our representatives, press 1 or else press 9 to disconnect."

I was at work, but I called back and a man with a thick Indian accent answered. He asked for my phone number, and he asked if he was speaking First name and Last name. I thought it odd that the IRS didn't know my full name. I have two first names and another full middle name. Anyway, he said his name was Ben Johnson and his ID #31129, and also gave me a case number. He proceeded to inform me that I owed $3,899 in unpaid income tax dues and if I have a lawyer that can represent me. I had said no, he then said this call will now be recorded, please refrain from interrupting until I am finished giving you details. If this call is interrupted, I will take that as tax evasion and a warrant for your arrest will be issued.

The whole thing sounded fishy. I have not missed filing my federal and state taxes, but I am not fully versed in tax laws, so when he said this was unpaid income tax dues, I started panicking. I told him I was not aware, never received any other phonecall, nor anything in the mail. I asked him how can I verify that this phonecall was not a scam? He told me that I could go online on FTC.gov and call them up. When it continued to sound fishy, I decided to walk back inside to my office and passed a co-worker and he asked me what was wrong. At this time, the "IRS" man had put me on hold for a good 30 seconds, but got back on the line as soon as I was speaking to my co-worker. He proceeded to tell me that due to the sensitive matter, I cannot involve nor disclose any information to any third party. I told him that I was going to call for a lawyer on the work line and said I couldn't do that, that the matter had to be resolved within 45 minutes. I was finally at my desk when he said this, so I decided to google the number I was calling and found this page and thread. I told him that I found the number online and THAT THIS CALL WAS A SCAM and then he hung up.

I am so glad I didn't give him any personal information. SO THANK YOU GUYS FOR SAVING ME FROM A SCAM! <3

I will also be filing a police report, They had my name, address, and phone number. I hope they didn't completely stole my identity!

OMG.....!  I received this call at work and freaked out and as he was talking  I walked over to my boss and advised him of what was going on and that I had to leave work a.s.a.p.!   The caller named "Ben" said I should not disclose any information but I told him was talking to my boss and then he up.  I did leave work go home I was so upset and then dialed the number back and I was disconnected every time I tried to engage the number.......I then got a call from my boss and he told me that he had thought it was fishy because the IRS don't work in that manner and he had information from another co-worker that received the same call and it was a HOAX!!!  OMG these people really need to be arrested how in the world could that be done I hate them and I wish them all to go to.....well. you know where!!  Thanks guys  I am so relieved that this was a hoax but it is very disturbing knowing that these people are out there.

I received 3 calls from the same number. I never returned the call and the caller stated that he was from the IRS and that I needed to settle my debt or they would freeze all assets. That's funny I ve never owed. Im concerned about all the people that fall victim to this scam and where are they sending their money. I was also told that someone was on their way tomy house to file paperwork against me all on my vm. I automatically ignored this.

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

I just got a call from that number. It said they will garnish my wages, etc. said a collection agent will be coming to my door to get the paperwork started!  We are all up to date on our taxes, don't owe any money. I figured it was a scam when they say the part that is supposed to be your name they say "this is for your name" if it was for me I think you would know what my name is!

Now they are using this number as Jetworld wide international.  I received a call that I won 750,000  wow(yeah right)  I had to call US Sweepstakes  at 1-702-866-9313 with my claim number, then I had to call US Bank Jennifer Baxter to release the check.  Then I had to call 866-307-7745 Jenny Brown to setup delivery.  For only 400.00 they were going to deliver a check for 700,000. and 500 - 100 dollar bills.  So I said ok I will pay the 400.00 out of my cash when you deliver it.  She said that's not following the rules they are in black and white so darn I guess I wont get my 750,000. I took up most of their day calling all over (mine too) but at least they were not scamming anyone else at the time.  Beware this is a big scam

Says they have my routing and account number to my bank but won't state what bank I even go through when I asked.  Never took a loan out  at this place and when I said something, the woman says if I want to dispute it they'll see me in court.
