- SmelseaThis number keeps calling me. I'm 16, It's getting really annoying. I'll have my ex Marine Dad call for me!! :)
- Caller: Billing info
- LCThis is legitimate but you can be extra safe by calling the billing number listed for your hospital rather than calling this number. Just tell them you received an automated call, and they will look up your account.
I went to the Swedish Medical Center website and called their billing department directly. It was an outstanding bill that I didn't know about.- Call type: Debt collector
- L. Donegan| 1 replyNo message but constant calling non-stop. If they are not careful they will face a complaint filed to the BIA Including the Tribal Court, as they do not have a valid Indian Traders License persuant to the Fair Indian Traders Act of 1896. It stipulates any entity doing business in Indian Territory is to have such license which supercedes UCC Code of Business Law. Such penalties are $10,000.00 per event plus 10 Years in a Federal Penitentury.
- Caller: unknown company
- zorg| 1 replyGot a call from 866-365-2211 saynig they were from Swedish Billing and asking for someone with a name similar to mine, but not actually my name. I corrected them and they asked for my date of birth and address. I told them I would not give that info to an anonymous stranger on the phone. She gave me the same number to call back with a "reference number".
I have no bills that are overdue, so I called my clinic. They said they are not aware of any Swedish billing office using an 866 prefix or making calls from an 8XX number. They gave me the billing office local number. The billing office has no record of any overdue bills, no record of any contacts with me, and no idea why anyone would be calling me about a bill.
This is clearly a scam. I reported it to Swedish.- Call type: Debt collector
- SB replies to Adam| 1 replyI'm not trying to be rude, but I actually used to be a temp for the company that you're talking about. The name of the company Health Services Northwest and they do all the billing for Providence Health and they also do the billing for Swedish Medical Center. They are owned by both medical facilities.
I understand that you may think that it's "phishing" but it's not. They are Swedish's billing office. Anyway, I don't care either way what you do with the call when/if they call you again, I just thought I'd let you on some info. - ummm replies to opossumsIt concerns you because YOU really DO have an acct with Providence? So, why did you lie??? You just didn't want to give your name because you wanted to avoid the obvious call they were making to try to get pmt for the services YOU used! God, people are bums!
- people are so stupid replies to college studentget over yourself! Answer the call then and let them know that you shouldn't have any bills with them!!!! Grow up!
- Concerned Citizen replies to L. DoneganThey don't do business on tribal land without license, the number is a central billing office, which could be calling you for any number of non-tribal land medical facility buildings. Get over it and either a) arrange for the bill to be dealt with or b) tell them they have the wrong number if its not you.
- Concerned Citizen replies to zorgIts not a scam, and whoever you spoke with likely has no clue about any of the billing matters. Its one of the swedish billing offices and theres any number of reasons for them to have called you (which at the time of this posting, you've probably already found out about) Next time try calling your "clinic" and asking for the billing dept, instead of talking to an admitting nurse who likely has never seen your bill or dealt with it.
- Concerned Citizen replies to RutzigaIn all honesty, your bill was legally due the day you left the hospital. Look it up, thats the law. We're not in Mayberry anymore either, the hospital does not know you personally, nor know how long you have come to them when they bill you. And if you are one of those who complain about companies getting to big to have personable service, just remember its that big entity that saves lives, and those little clinics of old, who know you, your kids, and your wifes grandma sue, who killed folks for lack of facilities to help.
- NotSoJollyRoger replies to Boat poorLet me be crystal-clear: I work for the company.
First and foremost..."Patient Accounts" is NOT the name of the company. Automated messages are left with "Patient Accounts" and the phone is answered, "Patient Accounts", because the company does the billing and customer service for four Swedish Hospitals and 12 Providence hospitals. When I leave a message asking for a call back, I make it a point to mention which hospital's bill/bills I'm calling about. The automated system doesn't have that ability.
Regardless of the size of the bill, calls are made after the first statements are sent out to ensure that everything (address, insurance information) is correct. Many times, info has changed, or was given/entered erroneously at the hospital, or there are questions and/or concerns, but people forget to call in, as it's low on their list of priorities.
And, yes...the calls are made to see about trying to get the accounts resolved, too.
Hope this helps. - LPI received a call from this number today. It seemed they had a wrong number, because they asked for someone whose name I never heard of. Not sure what they were calling about.
- Caller: Not sure
- S.WintersThey have been calling me for 2 years now, trying to get me to pay medical bills for my deceased father... Uh.. illegal much? One, he leaves one ex wife and one current widow (my mother) still alive.. Two, I'm his youngest child out of 6 other children.. Three, once he is dead nobody is legally responsible to pay off his medical debts (I have checked on this fact).. People need to stop doing such scandelous things to steal a mourning family's money..
- Call type: Debt collector
- Legit callThey are with Providence's billing - I used the ER at St. Peter's Hospital, and after I paid it showed up on my banking as Providence.
They initially unfortunately do make it seem like it's a collections call, which I've had before for other bills in my past but didn't have for them (I was just there last month).
But after we did the verification dance (I gave her my name, didn't have my reference number, but she confirmed everything for me after I confirmed a little with her) the gal was very polite and helpful w/my bill. I guess it's just SOP for a group that runs multiple hospitals to outsource their money collections.- Caller: Providence St. Peter's Hospital
- Nina replies to SBThen why do they hang up just as I answer the call.
- I, Anonymous replies to MELISSABilling people take note: How about sending hard copy notices (aka LETTERS) to folks? As far as I'm concerned, there is NO need to call people at home about any billing items. Letters can be addressed to the correct recipient; there is no need to "verify" who is speaking with whom; and specific information can be provided. And, guess what - most folks usually leave forwarding addresses with the post office when they move.
In an age where scam calls, ID theft, harassment and phishing abound - why on earth would ANY legitimate enterprise take this approach? Don't use HIPPA as an excuse. I work in a field where we are very sensitive to this and that's why - 9 times out of 10 - we WRITE to the correct person.
Also have to wonder why you would continue with this approach when it doesn't appear to be very successful (note the number of responders who hung up, didn't call you back, etc....). - SamI received a voice mail from this number several times. I will not return phones calls where they can't even properly identify who they are and why they are calling. I don't care if they are legitimate or not.
- Caller: Patient Billing 866-365-2211
- DanielleI just got a call about my providence bills, this is totally legit.....
- Caller: Providence Billing
- TracyThis may be legitimate, but I think it's ridiculous to expect customers to call back this unknown, suspicious number and divulge sensitive information to a complete stranger. What moron thought this would be a good idea? Just send me a bill for Pete's sake and stop pestering me to make a payment, especially when it's not even close to being over due.
- Caller: Providence Business Services
- Call type: Debt collector
- LaraSince I didn't recognize the calling number, I didn't answer. I looked up the number even before a message was left. At first I was concerned to see seemingly everyone saying this was Swedish healthcare calling (I have never been to a Swedish facility). The listened to the message and they did identify themselves as calling on behalf of Providence hospital, which I do have an open account with.
