Just found a $34.95 charge on my account!

Found an 800 number on the Gretawire.com website.  800-397-5761.  I called there tonight and a very pleasant male with no accent answered.  Stated he was in Cyprus.  His name was Aristotle.  He asked for the reference number and I gave him the reference number.  He stated my wife's name.  Then he stated he would refund my money.  He stated it was for Image World and an adult website.

I told him that he had stolen our account information and that we had never authorized this transaction.  He stated that he would reverse it.  

He told me to have a nice day at the end of the conversation.  I asked him how I could have a nice day, when I have to now go and close out my bank accounts.  I asked him how he sleeps at night.  

What was sick about it, is how nice he was, and how calm he was.

Yes...this did happen to me and I used to be a MK consultant years ago.  They put a paper check through for 39.95.  IW subscription. Same phone number 866-367-7116.  I filled a fraud report with my bank.  I hope they catch whoever is the scamming.

Thanks so much for this info!! I've been trying to slueth this crap all weekend. I turned all the info over to the bank, but they were totally blase' about it. Since this is totally personal to all of us, it is a huge relief to get a contact that might actually be able to do something about this schmuck(s). Thanks again!

I was billed 34.99 from iw subscriptions on my checking acc. I finally got through the 866 number and they said it was image world. never heard of them. They canceled the account and will reverse the charges. She was very friendly. I still cant figure out what image world is. can anyone help me figure that out. I want to file complaint but I'm not sure who to say this was.

I discovered a $39.99 charge on a checking I was closing.  This left me with a insufficient funds.  I called the number they said they would reverse the charge but I had to talk to the bank about the insufficient funds.  I trid call the number tonight and it is busy.

Just found the same sort of charge from IW Subscription for $39.95 in my checking account. I used to have a ProPay account several years ago, but I believe that it was closed. I'm on my way to the bank, and I will file a complaint with IC3.gov

you should be able to file a fraudulent check claim with your bank, even without the company's address because it was a transaction you did not authorize, unfortunately once you do that they will put your account on fraud hold and make you open a new checking account (trust me, its a big pain in the butt), but if you don't they won't be liable anymore

yup thats it, I used ProPay a number of years ago when I was a Mary Kay Consultant. I forwarded it to my banks fraud investigation unit.

Same thing going on with my account, too!!

Tom...have your bank conduct a fraudulant investigation.  That's what my bank did....let's catch these crooks.

The bank can't catch them, only the FBI can so please file a report, everyone.  It only takes 5 minutes online to do.

I also found a fraudulent charge with this phone number on it.  $34.99 was electronically removed from my checking account.  I already went to my bank and notified them to unauthorized activity.  I also got through at this phone number and the girl gave me the info that they are a billing company for numerous accounts.  I gave her the reference number on the electronic check and she told me it was a company called Image World that charged me.  This is an adult site.  No one but me has access to this checking account.  I do not log onto adult sites. She also told me it could have been through a ProPay account I have linked to this checking account.  Be sure to contact your bank and report the fraud.

seems to be related to an internet credit card processing service called Propay.

my bank said it was done over the internet supposedly, and a "check" was sent to them with our routing number.  I called the 1-866 number and a man said that it would be reversed , but he had no details about what it was.  he stated he was only the collection agency.  I contacted the police.  I have only used the propay account twice over the last four years, the last time a while ago.  my wife, however is a Mary Kay consultant.

I received the $39.99 charge to my account as well. After calling and speaking to the woman who couldn't give me ANY inforamation where i did authorize any charges, i went to my bank. They asked me to leave my account open to see if any more of these charges come thru. I started to look on-line to see what i could find and came across all of your comments. I did have ProPay for Mary Kay 8 years ago. The charges they said would be reversed. But i am going to go police right after i close my account. I also found another 3 sites that said to call Det. Flynn at Pitt County Sheriff's Office at  252-902-2767. I think i'll call him too!

I, too am a victim of this crime.  $39.95 taken out of my checking account that was linked to an old ProPay account!!  arrrggh!! I called the 866 number on Jan 7th and again, very nice lady assured me that they would reverse the charge.  She said to allow 7-10 business days.  Well, it's now been 12!!  I'm so sure they are going to reverse the charges!Yea, right!!  I called the 866 number again and now all of a sudden that phone number has been disconnected!  Imagine that!  Guess I'm out $40 bucks - just glad it wasn't $400!!  I still have the account open but my bank put the account so it can receive money but nothing can be withdrawn from it.  They also said that there were a bunch of accounts that this happened to right before Christmas.  I live in Indiana, near Cincinnati.  Hope they catch these crooks!

Yes, I had it happen to me. I just found it and am going to my bank today to file a dispute.
I use propay and am an MK consultant.
