This happens to me too.  Over and over.  I have stopped answering the phone and just keep blocking the calls.  I am sure there must be a way to stop it, but I just dont know what it is or how to do it without involving lawyers and spending money.  So blocking is what I do and they just keep using different numbers to call :(

keep trying to get a debt from 10 years ago. We settled when I cleared the new house I bought in 2000. took off report and all but they (capital one still sells to scum) They have called and used several names.

You need to turn them in to your state attorney general and let them know that you have done this and also enter a complaint to the BBB in your area.  Next time they call just let them know this is what you have done and that if it persists you will turn it into the U.S. Attorney General.

Received a call today 4-3-15 from (866) 423-1568 on my cell @ 2:58pm CST. It was a collection agency looking for someone else. I told them that they had the wrong number & hung up & blocked the phone number.

They have called me and called, even early and late on Sundays.  Calling for someone else.  I'm gathering info and reporting them.  The guy on the phone had the gall to say, "Oh, you must have forgotten [Not my name] that you took out this credit card."  Uh-huh.  He argued with that it "would be so much easier on all of us if you just paid your bill." And when I insisted I don't know her he said his "spies" gave him "my" number.  The conversation did sound stalker-ish.  He said he could tell me my social security number and last two addresses and such.  Crazy town.

What trashy bottom feeders!  I said "I'm documenting and reporting you so go ahead and take legal action against this [Not my name]. Stop calling."

They called back about 10 minutes later.  I guess they autodial because often no one is there and they don't leave messages.  Oh my gosh.
