- mommy92315| 1 replyGOT A CALL LAST NITE FROM 866-441-6224, SAID HE WAS A SHERIFF'S CLERK, AND HAS BEEN TRYING TO SUMMONS ME, AND ASKED IF I WAS HOME DURING 8AM-5PM MONDAY THRU FRIDAY, I SAID, "NO, I WORK LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE", SAID ALSO, IF I DONT CALL THIS NUMBER, AND LET THEM KNOW I AM HOME DURING THOSE OURS AND IF I DONT CALL THEM, THAT THEY WILL ISSUE A "WARRENT FOR MY ARREST". HIS NAME IS MR. LINE (ATTORNEY).
- HagathaA couple nights ago this man called my number for my mother and then said for her to call the number in question. That guy then said that she owed $7,000 and that the sheriff's was coming the next day between 9 am and 4 pm for her. We called our police and they said that they believed it to be a scam. What angers me is that my mother has a nervous disability and this guy could have put her in the hospital or worse. Shame on him!!! I hope the authorities find him.
- DavidI have received several calls from these people both at my old home number and one of my former employers. One time they said they were the sheriffs office wanting to serve me. The next time it was the county clerks office wanting to know if I wanted to be served at home or at work. I called the number given and they identified themselves as "Asset Management".

- Gatorney| 2 repliesA call was made to my sister's house, where I haven't lived for three years, asked if anyone would be home between 8 and 4 to accept service and left a "case number". I actually am an attorney, and Asset Management is a debt collection company. Under federal law, collection agents cannot threaten legal action, or more specifically say they are going to take legal action, if they have no intention of doing so - something they CANNOT DO if they are not in the proper jurisdiction to file the complaint. You can report these calls, whether you owe the debt they are calling about or not, to your Attorney General's office.

- Lin replies to GatorneyI received a call from someone saying they were Michael Jones and wanted to know if anyone would be home to receive a subpoena from the sheriff's office. They left a case # with the phone number of 866-441-6224. Called the number and they answered as "legal services" which then said they were "Asset Management"
- annoyed replies to GatorneyThe same thing happened to me, they said they tried to "serve" me papers at an address where I haven't lived in for over 4 years. Someone named Michael had called me and told me that their is a "case" against me and left a case number as well. Who are these people? Thank you for the advice in to call the Attorney General's Office.
- shocked| 1 replyI received a call at my mother's residence where I haven't lived in 6 years indicating the same thing. I was going to be served and wanted to know if someone was going to be there between 9a-4p. I don't even know what this is for, and whether or not I owe any kind of debt. This is harassment, and I will be reporting this to the Atty General and filing a harassment complaint. I cannot believe the unscrupulous companies that exist in this world.

- EC replies to shockedThey also call from this number: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-951-808-6328
Judging from reports on 800Notes and other websites, this is just one of many scam operations masquerading as debt collectors. In nearly every report, the same illegal threats of arrest and "serving papers" are made.
The important thing to remember is that no debt collector has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything and it's illegal for them to threaten otherwise. It's also illegal for a debt collector to threaten a course of action that they have no intention of undertaking (such suing you.) And it's illegal for a debt collector (or anyone else for that matter) to impersonate an attorney, law enforcement officials or officers of the court. So whenever you get phone calls such as this, try taking the following courses of action:
1) File a complaint online with the Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
2) File a complaint with your state's attorney general. The contact information for each state's attorney general is at www.naag.org Just scroll down to the national map graphic and click on your state.
3) Check out these websites for more information on protecting yourself against outlaw debt collectors and, if need be, suing them:

They wanted to know if anyone would be home to receive a subpoena from the sheriff's office. They left a case # with the phone number of 866-441-6224. Called the number and they answered as "legal services" which then said they were "Asset Management"
- ClaireYes, there is something on the net right now that talks about this approach to ultimately scare people into giving out credit card or banking information. People are frightened into thinking that a warrant or subpoena has been issued so will release information that they would never normally give out - more like a phishing scam by phone. Don't fall for it!

- kat replies to mommy92315One thing , never tell anyone your not going to be at home and never give them your real name or any other info. If the real police are looking for you , they will find you in person . A friend of mine came home to a cleaned out home , they took everything . This is a hard way to learn !
I'm always at home to everybody , regardless . I leave a message i'm outside in the yard feeding my geese , ducks , chickens and mowing . How are they going to know the real truth . - FEEDUPThe caller said he was calling in regards to a judgement against me. Asked had I been served then gave me the 1-866-441-6224 number to call. I called the guy on the phone then gave me a amount of 1,800 and something balance asked me 10 personal questions about my finances then lied about trying to lower the debt. I called the same number back then somebody else said by debt was 2,360.46 how did it change in a matter of minutes then threaten to garnish my property and bank accounts.

- TDMichael Jones called my mother's house looking for my sister, and asking if anyone would be home between 9AM and 4PM to be served papers. He said he was from the Sheriff's Department, but didn't state which county. This scared the crap out of my mother. My father, who is a retired Sheriff's Deputy, called the number and got a recording listing this number as Collection Management. They asked him to leave his name, phone number and SSN. In hindsight, He says no law enforcement agency is going to warn you there coming. Plus, they usually don't leave a toll-free number as a callback number. We will be filing with the OAG.

- The VillainHaving just gotten out of a legal mess with my husband, I got one of these calls from that Michael Jones and freaked out. I thought, NOW WHAT? Couldn't sleep. I got up and googled this number and found all these posts. Glad I did, peace of mind. I'm going back to bed now and dream of Antonio Cupo. F***k these [***]!!!

- ISLTRUXA previous employer called me today to notify me that the Sheriff's Dept. called looking for me. They left the famous 1-866-441-6224 number and a case number. I immediately called. The lady that answered said the name of the company so fast, that I had to ask her to repeat it three time. Still all I got was somethin Asset Management. Then she started to ask me questions. I kindly stated that I must have mis-dialed and hung up. Remember to block your number.
