aka Everyone how's been "sued"
My advice, if you're trying to extort monies from people, at least have one of your buddies still living in mom's basement make some sort of website for your "company."
Dumb [***] - Nicole| 1 replyI've been receiving vague messages over the last few days, and today they finally got a hold of me at work, using a caller ID number in my city's area code (tricky tricky). I spoke to Sarah. I told her it wasn't a good time to call, and that I'd call her back. She asked when, and I told her I didn't know. She then proceeded to tell me that if they didn't hear back, that they would file with my county and garnish my wages.
I called her back a little bit ago, after doing some research here and other places. I informed her that I did not want to discuss the debt in question over the phone at this time until I have received a written validation of debt via US mail. She said they only had 10 days to address this, and that she'd rather email me. I told her I wanted it via mail, and she said she'd do both. She then started talking to a man named "Anthony" who she told me was a clerk, and asked him to email me.
I asked her for their mailing address, and she then asked if I was going to send a "cease and desist" letter. She went on to say "Just tell me if you aren't going to pay your debt and I won't bother you anymore." I told her that I simply wanted their address for my own records, and then she told me that they do not accept mailed in payments. I told her I understood that, but still wanted her address. She told me they would include it in their letter.
She then asked if I was trying to say the debt was not mine. I again stated that I was NOT going to discuss anything until I received the letter. She told me to stay on the phone and we could talk about it once I got the email. I then asked her what their alternate company names were. She said she didn't know, but that they were bought a couple years back before her time there. I asked when, and then she started talking to "Anthony" telling him "I think she thinks we're a scam" and "Will you talk to her?" At that point I told her I would have to call her back. She then said "Nevermind, we'll deal with her later. She doesn't want to talk to us now." and then told me she'd be waiting for my call.
Not more than a minute later she called back with a different number, and when I answerd she said "Oh, I didn't mean to call you. My bad." Immediately after that, she called the receptionist and asked to verify my employment and asked for our fax number. When the receptionist asked who she was, she told her she was from FFG and her boss requested it. The receptionist asked who her boss was, and she told her "Anthony" then hung up.
I called back and said I didn't get an email, she said she'd send it again. I asked if they were faxing it, and she said "no", they were faxing a verification of employment request "common practice in our office." I then asked about the parent company again, and asked if it was Veglo. She said no. "You can do all the research on us that you want. We're a ligitimate, licensed company. I've never had someone ask so many questions over $580." I then told her about State of Nevada Cease and Desist order, and she again stated that they were sold. I asked to whom, and she said "Let me check my pay stub". She told me they were bought about a year and a half ago by North American Asset Services, LLC.
She then asked if I was claiming I never took out the money, because "$500 is a lot of money to borrow and never pay back and think you're gonna get away with it." I told her I did not disagree with that statement, but that I did not want to declare anything until I received the letter, and verified that their company was is legal standing. She said she understood and ended the call.
I googled the new parent company, and found this:
FRONTIER FINANCIAL GROUP, NORTH AMERICAN ASSET SERVICES LLC, 1291 GALLERIA DR SUITE, 170, HENDERSON, NV 89014, 702 586 4444
fid.state.nv.us/ New_Qry_CollectionAgency.asp
It looks like they really are a licensed company now. I live in CA, and I didn't borrow $580, so I am going to try to get a hold of the original lender, but I thought I would share this info to anyone who it might help. I'll update if I ever get a letter...they have 30 days as of today to get one to me. :)- Caller: Frontier Financial Group

- sam@ Nicole. Do not give them any money. They will never send you anything in writing only some "fake" email that states what you "owe." This is not a legal proof of debt and they are not a legal collection agency. They are falsely representing themselves as a legal firm.
I will be getting in contact with the Nevada State DA's office to see if they are aware of this company and have any information in regards to them operating as a collection agency.
I have also filed with the BBB.
I will update after I get more information.- Caller: FFG

- MargieI got this letter today giving me 7 days before they sue me? Is this a bogus letter? Says I'm being named as the defendant in the law suit but if I pay what I owe within 7 days they won't file. If I knew how to post the letter on here I would, so everyone could see it. How can they send this letter if it's a scam? They have been calling me too but I've just ignored them. I don't think I should ignore this letter?
- Caller: Ffg
- Alfalfa| 2 repliesDon't ignore it. Send them this letter VIA certified mail DEMANDING validation of the alledged debt they are calling about with return receipt requested. Per the FDCPA they have five days to respond. If they can't (or won't) provide proof that you legitimately owe it and continue calling, you can sue for statutory damages of $1,000.00 PER violation. Be sure and keep copies of everything you send:

Dear {insert name of collector or company},
I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.
This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state).
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:
Because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
You do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA.
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.
I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/Disputing ... ute-letter.html - Nicole replies to Alfalfa| 1 replyOk, so no email today...but they DID send a fax to HR requesting my employment and pay information. The gal in HR told me that I don't have to sign, and if I don't she'd just shred it, so I didn't sign. I should have asked her for a copy!! :( Oh well...
This is rediculous...I know I owe some money, but not $580 (I live in CA), and the company to which I owe (NorStar Cash) is an illegal company also. I'm more than happy to pay back what I owe, but nothing more, and nothing to people who are just going to keep harassing me for more.
Are they allowed to contact my work for verification before they send me the letter I requested? I'm going to be getting in touch with a lawyer here soon... - I finally got it to stop replies to NicoleNo, they cannot contact your employer, they cannot contact you at all after you have asked for validation of the debt and you are waiting on the information. http://www.expertlaw.com/library/consumer/fair_debt_collection.html - RIntI received a call form a J. Spencer from F F G & Associates. He left me a message on my cell and work phone. He said that he will turn my case over to his attorney. This is the second time I have received such a call. I am changing all my numbers. I have not received anything in the mail from this company. I do not know who this is and will not be responding. The number they call from is (866) 202-5030. Good Luck to everyone in their efforts to stop these calls.

- nanaWe keep getting these calls and we never answer them. Do not have any debts we owe or no one has notified us of any checks we have written that has a problem. They obviously have the wrong number or are trying to scam people to get their personal information. I am also going to let my local tv station know about this and have them do a follow up report on it. This kind of stuff needs to be stopped.

- TexGalTo all: I just received a call from this very same person, "Joseph", no last name also stating that he is from FFG &Associates at the same number given by all of you and he says "it was regarding a check that I wrote and wanted to verify information for security reasons". It came from a local number (915). I tried calling back the number on my phone and no one ever answered and did not even get a voice mail. I have no idea what they want so I googled and got all of your remarks, glad I did. I have no intentions of answering his calls. Who would not leave a last name if legitimate? Thanks for the heads up!!

- NieceI received a call at my job on Friday, March 26th @ 5:49 pm from Joseph at 703-436-2220 saying "he has a check I wrote and I need to call and verify some information due to security reasons". He left the return call of 866-443-6985. I looked up both these numbers in the Yellow pages online and there was no record of either one. Does anyone really know if this company exist, who or where they are even located?
