I got a call from someone at 866-446-1071 and when I call the number after hours the answering machine says the company's name is AMG. The guy who left the message said I was facing criminal action, then backtracked and said "court action" and was very intimidating and official sounding. He wouldn't say what the call was supposedly relating to just that I needed to call him within a certain timeframe. I called and got a message that he was unavailable and to please leave my name, case ID number and lawyer's name. I don't have a lawyer and although I owe a ton of debts, I have no idea what this guy is talking about.

After doing a few Google searches I found an entry for a similar phone number - 866-403-5319 (https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-403-5319)- that appears to be for this same company - AMG or Allied Mediation Group. Obviously they've got more than one 800 numbers. They sound like a real piece of work.

I called this number 1866-446-1071 back they wanted my bank account threaten me with civil law suit and when I said I could not give infor out he said he would e-mail mre some papers because they dont have to mail you anything. That is not all he even gave out my last 4 numbers of ss to my x- husbands wife which they live in FloridaI still have vioce mail I got from them. Never Received e-mail from them either.

Same thing happen to us, his name was Owen Shorp with AMG Mediation with 866-446-1071 number, extenion 104. He said Vanderbuild Collection agency was trying to collect an outstanding debt from a sprint account from a phone line with our old number we had in 1999 also had the last 4 of the ss#. Said he is the mediator for a civil case that would be filed in 48 hours if we did not pay him $620, if we didn't we were looking at $3,200 in court costs just to fight it once it had been filed even if it is a faulse claim. There is nothing on our credit report that shows outstanding debt with sprint, nor does sprint have record of this account having debt. Spent a lot of time checking our credit reports and with different divisions of Sprint to legitimise this thing and there is no recoed of us even being late let alone having a collection claim.

i got a call from AMG as well and it was a very ligit debt that i had forgot about and i checked with my own lawyer and he advised me to pay... i was thankful that i took care of it because not all things show up on your credit report..that is even said in commercials for debt consol...a week later i was tryin to finish the process of buyin a house and i had received a letter from them releasing me of the debt and it actually would have been the only thing stopping me from getting into my new home...granted i have other debt i was right at the score i needed to be because they worked with me to get it taken care of. My lawyer advised me that what he was saying could happen..so why take the chance? you people know you owe it and so just own up to it. grow up- pay your bills!

I just recieved a call also by this AMG they said it was very important that I call them back, when I did some girl answered the phone didn't even use the company name to identify the business,she didn't tell me her name just said hold on and never got back on the line. I guess leaving a few minutes before 5:00p.m. was more important.

I got a call from this AMG Company in March 2008 and then again Aug 20th 2008. (I can find no website for them and they call from many different numbers). They said I owed them 700+ dollars for a unpaid At&T bill from 2002. However, I PAID this bill in 2002. I spoke to AT&T and they said I owe them Nothing and that I DO NOT have an outstanding balance. These scams make my blood boil and infuriate me. I have not recieved one piece of certified mail from this so called Laywer Chuck Vanderbuilt on the East Coast. I spoke with a Michael Patrick (he was VERY rude and threated me with the court and asked me if I had a lawyer) on Aug 20th and he told me that if I didn't paid him by 5:00pm East Coast time, he would send me a jugdement. I have yet to see anything or recieve any documents. If I owed any money it would be on my credit report... I have clean credit to this day. Please DO NOT PAY or buy into this SCAM!! They are trying to scare people with verbage and old, PAID debt! I can only hope to God that the elderly people they try to scam, will be smarter and will NOT give them any Credit card information. I am looking into this matter further to see if I can save people from the unfortunate! Thank you.

The second phone call came tonight (first call was a week ago).  It wasn't even in reference to me, but an ex-sister-in-law whom I have had no contact with for several years.  They inferred they were an attorney's office and there was a civil suit pending that they needed to contact her.  I gave them the last contact number I had for her (in Alabama).  Similar call tonight on my answering machine - at least this time she gave me her name w/ an attorney's name, but no state as to where she was calling from and never a mention this was a collections agency.  My return phone call to them in the morning will be VERY different.  Please remember to NEVER give out any personal information (don't even verify anything they may already have).  Get everything they claim you owe in writing before sending any money and NEVER allow them electronic access to your checking account and don't send post-dated checks.  Abuse is a way of life for a lot of collectors (not all of them, but most).  It is illegal for them to harass you, use profanity or threaten you into paying.  A great website is www.daveramsey.com (a great financial guy/author/radio host) that can help you deal with this kind of problem and get you out of debt to boot.  Do a search for "debt collectors" on his site and there are many links to go to (one even to the Fair Debt Collection Act-1978 is interesting reading).  If you owe the money, pay it, but don't be harassed or threatened into it by an abusive collector and always get proof that you owe the debt.

This is the second call I recieved from this number. They are stating that a Citi account (which I setteled years ago) had been purchased by Stanley Cumberland, attorney at Law. There were over $4000 in legal fees, and if I didnt pay them immediately they would file a lean on my tax return. (Please do not buy into this if you recieve the same kind of threats) Know your rights, know that these people are severe drug addicts who are like vultures trying to use scare tactics to pick meat off of the bones of old debt which is illegal.

I received a call last week from this company Allied Mediation Group about a pay day loan that I got last year and never paid back. I explained that I am broke and that if I could pay, I would. The lady I talked to was not mean or threatening she worked with me on some solutions to handle the matter. She actually removed 20% of the debt and my parents helped me pay it off. Why is everyone so upset about this company, they are only telling you about debts that you ACTUALLY HAVE! I just think it's wrong to make this company out to be the bad guys!!!! Grow up and stop blaming others for your problems! That is why our country is in sooooooooo much debt now, no one wants to pay.

What is up with the people defending this company? No everyone does not owe a debt. Debt Collectors are known for this type of thing.  I had an outstanding debt that I eventually paid, and I bugged the heck out of them until they sent me an official document stating that I had paid the debt off in full..  My credit is clean, and I have no debts to my name. Every once in awhile I will still get a call about the "debt I owe". When I tell them it's paid, they say no it's not and keep on harrassing me, then I pull out the document and give them the Reference #, the names, times, and dates of the people I spoke with.. and everytime Miraculously they say.  We apologize, I don;t know how your name got on our debt owed list. I am seeing now on our system that you have paid in full.. Our deepest apologies...etc etc...

 What you have to do, is not be rude back.. I know its hard.. you want to flip out on these scumbags, but just state the facts, make sure you have all your documentation that the debt is paid, the names and #'s of people you spoke with.. Make them aware you've initiated complaints with the FTC, the BBB, and the Attorney Generals office of your State.. and they should stop harrassing you.

The people writing the posts defending the company are amg collection employees. They scan websites like these and post fake stories between collection calls. The company requires them to do it to limit down time.

they called me and stated I have a loan in2011 at the time I was in and out of hospital and donot remember getting any loans and I was some strong pain meds, at the end I had to retired and and now they say you pay or we will take you tocourt I stated to do it
