- shopper| 1 replyOn a whim, I signed up at the Sherman Oaks Mall for "big" prizes-----none of which was a time share prize. A few months later, I got a message from someone saying they were Candy Jackson, and that it was urgent I return her call as I'd WON!! Congratutlations! HA! She left the 866 number with the extension of 14117-called back immediately and she wasn't there-asked for voice mail-she has none. I asked what company it was--the woman said PMR gift center--a time share company. Got another call this morning from Candy at 8:30-the ID said it was from 714-687-6160. Called back--it's just another number for Pacific Monarch Resorts. This is a scam and should be reported to the Westfield Malls and to the appropriate government agencies.

- I WORKED THERE(Forgive my spelling, its bed time)
lol... I worked for this [***] company. Its a scam. They rip off there employees as bad as they rip off the people that call. For all of you people on this site... I am sorry for calling you if I did. The least I can do is tell you how it all works if you work there.
In orientation, they MAKE you sign a bunch of papers without reading them.... Literally. They will not allow you to read what you are signing. Then they tell you the pay rate. Its $8 an hour plus commission. If you book people on certain days, you get paid extra. Some days are worth more than others. WHat they don't tell the employees is that you have to get 4 people to show up to these time share presentation. They lied to me and told me that ALL the names are collected by the raffle drawings done at malls and movie theaters... LIE!!! some of these names are bought from other telemarketing companies (I think thats illegal). It gets worse...
They LIE to the new employees about the sales pitch. They don't tell the employee that you have to pay the taxes of all the gifts you receive. The gifts are not cheep if you heard the sales pitch. They also don't tell the employee that the travel gifts only work on certain days and times. They don't tell the employees that the cruise ship is not docked near the winner. Of corse you will have to pay the flight expenses to get to the cruise ship. They lie to the employee and tell them that the entry form is one of the few that is selected. BULL [***]. I am forced to call like 500-600 of you people a day. That does not include the 15-20 other employees working night shift with me (there is a day shift too, and there are other gift center branches, so you are not one of the few).
Also... some times they hold people longer than 90 minutes.
The secret gift claim number... not a secret. You know the secret phone number you call to get the secret code for the second gift. We are required to give that to everyone. So don't feel special. Of corse the travel packages have time and date restrictions.
There are 3 sales levels at the job. You have the trainee who must book at least 1 person by the end of the week or else he gets fired.
The novice salesman must get one of there victims to show up to a time share presentation every week or else he/she will get fired.
The 3rd level is a "TOP GUN". They have the same rules as the novice level but they are less likely to get fired and i will tell you why later.
When you are a trainee or novice level they will give you entry forms that are 8 months or more old. Therefore meaning after a wile you will get less experienced callers. It takes them about year to stop calling you. Anyways, the novice sellers must get at least one person who has said "NO" for a year straight to show up to a time share presentation every week or else they will be fired (makes no logical since).
If that employee gets 10 reservations (not showings) 3 weeks straight, they will be given entry forms that are less than a month old. So how do you book 10 people for 3 week straight with people who have said no for about a year straight? Most of the numbers are disconnected.
If you some how book 10 people 3 weeks straight you become a top hun and get the new leads. Those people are easy to book because they are ignorant and naive of the SCAM. Top guns book about 20 people a week. The only way you can be successful in this environment is to steel from fellow employees employees... or corse... the boss does NOT care about the theft of leads.
Or the boss just have to like you to give you the new leads.
Do not bother telling the salesmen to put you on the "do not call list". They dont have that power to do so. Besides, he/she is not the only employer who has your name as one of there leads.
Also, pacific monarch gives away "GIFTS" wed-sunday in 5 different locations WEEKLY, so dont take it as an annual special drawing.
They may use phrases such as "LIVE DRAWING" to make you think its going to be in front of a live audience or a show... LIE
They may us phrases like "YOU ARE ONE OF THE FEW THAT HAVE BEEN SELECTED", if you have been reading my post, you will no that is full of [***].
They may use phrases like "WON, CONGRATULATIONS, WIN, WINNER", you didn't when anything.
If they want to fire you, they give you the worse possible leads from OVER a year ago from people who did NOT fill out and entry form for a week. Then they will fire you for not "Performing well".
You guys hated when pacific monarch employees call you... I [***] despised calling you all. In fact I was pissed off at the fact that you people even filled those entry forms out for me to call you. I hate the telemarketing business and those who own them, and i at times wanted the person i called to just drop dead. Like i said you hate being called? Imagine being the caller. Imagine working for a company that controls there employees by lying to them.
There are many other sleezy under handed things this business does. Screw pacific monarch. And the sad thing is, the employee is more clueless than the person who answers the phone. There the ones who are the most naive. As soon as the employee "like my self" realize that ignorance is not bliss, and you do not approve of the methods and speak up..lol.. they'll get fired.
There are 2 types of employees there, those who are comfortable [***] people over, and those who are not. When i found out about these lies, I immediately begin searching for a new job.
It sucks, that in this economy this is the only job that seem to be available. I needed work, i figured "How bad could it be?" I rather be a janitor.
HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM
block there [***] number. its the only way.
if you dont block them, being an [***] to the telemarketer doesn't do anything but make that telemarketers day as his or her [***] job more miserable. Besides, they "Usually" don't no better if they are new. Just kindly say I'm not interested and hang up.
Yet again, I am so so sorry for being part of the business. I may have called some of you on this. Weather or not if I did, regardless I am terribly sorry. When I found out how corrupts and sleazy this "business" (is it proper to call pacific monarch a business?) was, I wanted out
PS: Georgina (operator), go [***] your self [***]... AND Jeff (Employer), you are a [***] snake. You will be in the darkest hottest part of hell. Think cold thoughts my "friend" and bring a beer >:)

- A very pissed off guy replies to wilsonOk so here's the skinny:
My now wife got a call from a Jason Pfiser about 3 months ago saying that we had been picked in a car raffle and were now eligible to go to
"a more specific raffle" where a drawing would be made. He asked her if one of us was over the age of 25 and neither of us was, but she told him that I would turn 25 soon. He said that we could get someone to "sponsor" us over the age of 25 and we declined since we didnt want to make this complicated and bring anyone else into this crap.
We forgot it for a long time. So last week I get a call from him seeing if im 25 yet, and I had never talked to him. So I asked him what it was and he explained it... and all i could think of is..
WHY WOULD A TRAVEL AGENCY BE RAFFLING CARS???
makes no sense. Anyhow he said that he would do me a favor and get us into the next selective raffle down the line to a new convenient location of course since we had relocated. He said the raffle location was in north hollywood at Havenhurst and "a-roo-be-oh" which is the phonetic spelling that i couldnt figure out. I tried to search the location in google maps but found nada. All that is on havenhurst in north hollywood is residences and a few restaurants near the sunset strip. Highly suspicious...
The only office in california that has a BBB rating got a B+ even though they have 81 filed complaints with the BBB! Here is the link:
http://www.la.bbb.org/Business-Report/Pacific-Monarch-Resorts-Inc-29003889
The BBB has this to say:
"Some complainants allege dissatisfaction with the company's selling methods. A few customers complain of accounting related issues with respect to association fees or late fee assessments. The company generally responds to customer concerns by providing apologies, researching concerns, and in some cases cancelling contracts or providing credits when warranted. The company has satisfactorily responded to all customer complaints brought to our attention and has indicated that they utilize their customers' concerns to improve their services Although we have received a number of complaints against this company, the complaint allegations are typical of what we would expect for this industry and are not such that we would consider them serious."
Obviously i am now one of the informed and will therefore be ignoring these offers in the future. As the saying goes, if its too good to be true, it is. If you truly win something legitimately, it will be something that will happen immediately, since important tax filing information and taxation on a prize winning will have to be established.
here is a link to the FTC for tips on how to mark these loser businesses.

next time your walking in the mall, WALK PAST THE DUMB PRIZE BOX! - SasjaI received the same call, and also filled out a flier at a mall. I've been through hoops speaking with the company, Pacific Monarch Resorts (PMR). It is in fact 100% legitimate, and if you're confirmed as a winner/finalist, you have the possibility of walking away with $100,000/car, or a choice of 4 other vacation prizes. There are stipulations, those being:
1.) In order to even be eligible for ANY of the gifts, you must be 25-75 years of age, or, I believe, 30+ if you're single. AND, you must earn AT LEAST $40,000 per year. If you're cohabitating/married the situation varies, I'm not sure on the fine print. I filled out on my form that I was 21, and I was still selected, so BE CAREFUL! Don't let them give you the run around
2.) You must sit through a 90 minute presentation about a timeshare their interested in selling you. They do say that the presentation may last more than 90 minutes, but that you have the option of leaving. I'm not sure how optional that is though.
According to PMR, you don't need to purchase anything in order to win one of the free gifts. But, again, they ARE trying to sell you timeshares, you're just not NOT required to purchase, you just need to give up 90 minutes of your time.- Caller: Pacific Monarch Resorts (PMR)
