Received an E-mail telling me to call this number or 416-785-1331 to verify my account information because of Credit Card fraud. I believe this is part of a scam to get your secret code off the back of your credit card. DON'T call this number back.

This was a legitimate call from the CIBC Visa fraud dept.
Called regular Visa line to verify and they connected us thru instead of calling back the number.  It was a safer way.  Our Visa was compromised so it was a good thing we did not ignore the call.

A caller claiming to be CIBC anti-fraud department told me to dial this number, or 1 866 454 3339. I'm quite sure they were trying to get my credit card number from me.

This number is legit. I had a message to call this number regarding credit card fraud from CIBC. I called the number on the back of my visa card instead, just to be careful. They confirmed that they were calling me regarding a suspicious charge.

I received a call from 1-866-454-4339 from a guy named Vladimir who claimed to be from the CIBC Visa fraud centre telling me that my card was compromised and that there is a fraud alert.  The only problem is is that I don't have a CIBC credit card.  It was cancelled quite a while ago.  When I told him this he put me on hold and then when he came back he  changed his tune and then told me that he had made an error and that it wasn't my card at all.  It was another case he was working on.  Seriously?  It was a really disturbing call and when I tried to call back to verify, I was put on hold and eventually I hung up because I couldn't wait anymore.

I received a call, 9 PM. No message. If it is from CIBC fraud centre then it is definitely a scam. I am new in Canada and I don't have a CIBC account from Adam.

    IGNORE THIS CALL!!!

This was a legitimate call from the CIBC Visa fraud dept.

I called regular Visa line, the number on back of my Visa Card, to verify and they confimed that this is in fact their fraud dept. phone number.

Our Visa was compromised so it was a good thing we did not ignore the call.

I have to wonder if CIBC has some sort of "leak" somewhere as this is the second time we get this call. Last month it was my wife's CIBC card, now mine.

They did in fact replace my wife's card and are now sending me a new card.

One thing I pointed out to them was the lack of info that they provide to show they are legitimate. I am going to write to them to suggest that we should set up a password that I can ask for if I want to identify them when they call me. They wanted info from me but were not willing to prove who they were.

    Scary stuff.

Called me today. I called back, it IS CIBC CREDIT CARD FRAUD DEPARTMENT. They knew I had trouble last night trying repeatedly without success to buy microsoft points from my xbox 360 on "xbox live" and my credit card account was flagged because of my many attempts. He said he would unflag my account and now I don't have the problem I did last night.

As many people have mentioned above, this is the legitimate number for CIBC's credit card fraud department. I got the same message about 20 minutes after I had made a rather large purchase online, and the service rep went through my spending for the month item by item. If you get a call like this and haven't spent anything big recently please pay attention and call them back. You don't have to use the number they left; you can call credit card services via the number on the back of your card and they'll direct you to the same department.

It's CIBC.  They cancelled my card because I did some transactions in a retail store where a lot of frauds happened, so they wanted to prevent some problems...

They called, left message for someone I'd never heard of, which raised my suspicion. However, I am a CIBC Cardholder and have received this kind of call before. I called them back to let them know that they had left a message for someone I didn't know, and they were appreciative. THey also confirmed that no activity had been occurring on my account. Plus, just to be sure that I wasn't being asked a whole bunch of security questions by a fraudster, I called the regular CIBC Customer Service number and received confirmation (a) that the number I was given is legitimate and represents the CIBC Fraud Department (b) that my last call was noted in my account, which confirms that I spoke to a real CIBC person.
