the person said i could refinance my mortgage at 5.5% if i call them back and give them more information but never said what company they were calling from.  sounds fishy to me especially since i tried searching for the phone number and there is no listing.

Bogus call.. no company identified.  Fixed timelimit to call back.  All beware

Caller:  Linda, Senior Underwriter.  Call Scott, the underwirter on "my" account @866-509-0393 X... they require some additional information since "my mortgage company" has authorized an adjustment of rate on my mortgage to 5.8%.  No company name.  Not legitimate in my estimation. Scary!

Message left to call 1-866-509-0393 Ext 117 for 5.87% mortgage rate due to my recent payment activity.  Offer good onlyfor 3 business days.  Didn't understand name of company.  If it was my mortgage company it wouldn't need my permission to lower my rate by 1%.

Got the same message yesterday.  I called because was curious what company this was and when I called back it say "you reached the Underwriting department".  Of what company remains a mystery.  Also under the number 888-271-4478.

Call was from Michelle at 888-271-4478 regarding an adjustment to my mortgage rate.  Need more information.  Call 866-509-0393 x117 and ask for Scott within next 3 days.

The clear indicator about this is that I am not a homeowner, and I don't have a mortgage at all. So this is definitely a scam. They called from 888-271-4478, and asked that I call back at 866-509-0393 x 117 for Scott. Total b.s.

Its First national lending corp. They are just trying to sell you to refinance.

Be wary? After answering some financial questions, person said she would call me back in 10 minutes. It's been 1/2 hour and so far... nothing!!

Person called from 888 271-4478 (which when called back, is a fax #).  Message said to call 866 509-0393 ext. 117.  When I called back the person answering the phone said the company was 1st National Lending and he could help me.  When I started asking questions and told him I was on the no call list, he very quickly apologized and said he would remove me from the list. George's direct number was 800-578-2035 ext. 102.

Received the call today and called my personal mortgage company. They said that in order to change the interest rate on your mortgage it is necessary to refinance.

I always say, if it's too good to be true, then it is. Best bet is to call the source directly and confirm the facts before committing to a message.

Same as all the others. This is evil: it could easily entrap an unwary elderly person.

See just above. Google "First National Lending Corporation" (use the quotes otherwise you get another equally fun bunch - NLC without the First). Fun bunch.

Same message as above. Especially suspect since they offer to "lower" my rate to 5.875%. My current rate is lower than that!

Got same voice mail message as above. Funny, since I don't have a mortgage.

Caller identified herself as "Mishelle", a Senior Underwriter,  said my existing mortgage company wants to lower my rate to 5.87% for 30 years to save me money, and that it would cost me nothing; I would only need to ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS!!! To do that, I would need to call "Scott, an Underwriter", at 866-509-0339, ext.117 and that the offer is good only for 5 days. BEWARE! Somebody already knows your Tel.#, your address, and probably your name, all they need is the missing information about you and your property,  and then you and I, and hundreds and thousands of trusting people who probably already find it hard to pay their mortgage may find themselves in deep trouble.

Received call today with same old message, "This is Michelle, senior underwriter concerning your last paylment.  We can lower you payment below your current rate of %.875% without out-of-pocket costs.  Call Scott at 1-866-509-0393, ext. 117.  this offer is only good for the next 3 days."  Called number and got, "Underwriting Department".  When asked who they were they responded, "First National Lending". Advised that I was on the DNC list and they would remove my number.

"Michelle" left a voicemail on my home phone identifying herself as a senior underwriter...calling because of my recent payment history...said she could offer 5.875% interest rate but that the offer was good for 3 business days. Gave same information as other people reported, i.e., to call "Scott" an underwriter at 866-509-0393, ext. 117. My caller ID showed the number 888-271-4478/Unknown Name.
