- sameoldBS| 1 replyI kept getting these calls on my answering machine too. I also tried to call that number back and kept getting a busy signal. So I had to take today off from work without pay to catch these creeps. They finally called today and I talked to a lady there who kept insisting I owe a hospital in OK city for some heart surgery I never had. Heck I've only been to OK city once in my life and that was when I was 14. On top of all that, I never had heart or any kind of surgery in my life. She just fought with me over the phone and told me she was going to take me to court. I told her to go ahead! What else can I do?

- Cliftton NJthey called me- I didnt answer - no message - I have had an intense increase of suspicious calls such as this from about 6 of the same phone numbers this past year o so. this is the first time for this particular number as far as I can tell.
- jg| 3 repliesWe have been getting the same calls as everyone else. We have had this number for nine years but when we moved into a new apartment, debt collectors have been calling repeatedly for a person that has never been at this number. The message says to stop listening to your own answering machine if you are not the person they are looking for. They have called multiple times. I finally called the number I found on this website and they have hopefully removed my number from their list.

- tiffany| 1 replyWe just moved into this house 3 months ago, the guy they are calling for is the guy who lost this house. We just got a home phone last month and they call multiple times a day. I have asked them to stop and they haven't . they call as early as 8 a.m. and now I have to shut the phone off or turn off the ringer so they stop waking up my young children and newborn. Very annoying. Maybe I should call them multiple times a day to tell them to take me off the list since they don't seem to understand the concept of DO NOT CALL.

- ec replies to jg| 1 replyUnfortunately, debt collectors are exempt from the Do Not Call regulations. Instead, report their harassment to this FTC link:
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 And file a complaint with the consumer affairs division of your state's attorney general; the contact info for each state's attorney general is at www.naag.org
You can also send the collection company a letter directing them to cease all communication with you and warning them that you'll sue them for damages in federal court if they don't comply. And if they contact you more than once after receiving your letter, then they are in violation of the law, and you can lower the boom on 'em for fun and profit. Just be sure to mail the letter via certified U.S. mail with a return receipt request. (By the way, here's a long list of federal lawsuits filed against FMS, Inc: http://dockets.justia.com/search?query=fms&se ... 1&max-year=2008 )

- SharronI have got this same message at my house.I called the # and asked for Walter Smith and I spoke to a Robert Morris instead and he was telling me that I owed some money for something that was clear back in 1992. I had just recently purchased a house and this was not on my Credit Report and the sum he was telling me that I owed was large enough that it should have been on my report for a default on something and it wasn't. I am suppose to call this person back this afternoon and give him my credit card # to pay off this debt. Should I do this?

- Aggrevated tooAutomated system calls every night at same time asking for someone i don't know. I want to make the calls stop, so I press 1 for an "important business call".
Rep says: is this "some name?"
I say: no, who is this?
Rep: is it really important?
Me: Yes, because FTC regulations require you identify your self
Rep: (hangs up)
So, I call the number on caller ID, and someone answers the phone. I ask them who am I calling, and she asks me why? I say, I keep receiving calls from this number and I want them to stop. She says my number was removed. I ask to speak to the supervisor of the rep who hung up on me, and I speak with a per son claiming to be Tonya Maupin @ ext 2501. She says she cant tell me who called until the "dial tech" gets in in the morning. I will call tomorrow to find out more. In the interim, I have my fax set to keep dialing their toll free to return the favor.- Caller: NONE

- DanaReceived calls every few days for over a year on recorder at work. Looking for Maria Garcia. Then they quit calling for her and now ask for Kelone Stevens. A long time ago they were calling me for somebody else, who they finally gave up on after I had called them back, but not for a while after my call. Can't understand why they keep "placing" their deadbeats at my number.
- Caller: FMS Inc
- disgustedi got the same exact phone call. if they are infact an official debt collector, where is it in writing???? send a letter, what account it is for etc. if it is in fact valid, they should have all that info. the guy is EXTREMELY rude, asks me for personal info, and i told him i wouldn't tell him anything without knowing what "debt" he is talking about. told me he couldn't tell me anything, so i told him i couldn't tell him anything! they will leave a mysterious message to intrigue the person to answer the call, then start asking you information that he should already have!!!! beware and ignore!!!!!

- JaniceI have received a couple of these calls also from a Walter Smith, asking for a person first by the name of my son and secondly, my mother...both of whom recently moved in with me. When I have called them back they INSIST my mother/son is the ones that took out the "loan" which is past due in payment. When I told them my mother is 84 and and has NOT be able to do any type of business for several years now, they CONTINUE to insist she has done so. When I told them my son's middle name is not "so-in-so" they continue to accuse me of lying. Not knowing at the time I may be dealing with a scammer, when asked I told them the last 4 digits of mom's SS #. Immediately the person hung up. Next time they call I plan on threatening them with my attorney. I would hate for my mother to answer the phone in her state of mind. Thank God I handle all her business and banking matters. SO GUYS....IF YOU ARE READING THIS, YOU BEST NOT CALL ANYMORE AS I HAVE MY ATTORNEY STANDING BY. Oh yeah, for anyone reading this...they claim to remove your name when they "figure" out you are the wrong person...but that's a lie! Hang up, don't call them back!

- Not Mr CzikGetting repeated annoying calls looking for Mr Czik. Not at this number, calls won't stop. Tried calling and asking them to stop and they said they WILL NOT because Mr Czik gave my number. I know that is a lie. becasue once I got someone that told me they got my number from public records because my name appears somewhere with Mr Cziks name. I have to pay for these calls because of the phone plan I have. these calls are really making me very angry.

- KatieSI've received messages just like the ones everyone else on here has described, except that the number was cut off. By googling the company name and "Walter Smith," I found this site. I called the number and spoke to a woman asking if I was the woman they were looking for. I told her "no," and she asked if I knew the woman. Again, I told her "no." She said she'd take my number off, so my fingers are crossed!
- RoyWants to know if a certain P.O. Box was ours and we told him no but he continued to ask personal questions and when we stated we were not comfortable answering his questions, he kept on going and kept saying things like "what are your intentions, legal action", etc. They don't have the right person connected to the account they are calling about but they still keep calling even though we had a live conversation w/the person at the other end.

- ADT| 1 replyI've been receiving these calls twice a day for the last week. Same situation as everyone else is having, recorded message asking for someone by the name of Willie Smith, which I've never heard of unless you count "Will Smith" ;). I returned the call today and was promptly put through to a woman after a brief message that said "this call may be monitored". She verified the number I was calling from and asked if I knew anyone by the name of Willie Smith. I said no and she said my number would be removed and thank you for calling. I'll keep my fingers crossed. She was polite enough and it was not hassle to get through.
