This is clearly a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If she threatened to take you to court and garnish your wages, that is harassment and against the law.  Best advice, get a recorder and inform them that you are recording the call next time at the beginning of the call, if such a threat is made again you'll have amo for a court case.  Begin to log when they are calling, what time, what number, whether a message was left and the name of any employee of the company you speak with.  You may want to find a lawyer who works on FDCPA or consumer cases.  Each violation by a collection company can be fined at $1,0000.  The only way they'll learn is by shelling out funds.  Good luck.

I would like to know how many people have gotten phone calls from Walter Smith of FMS Inc for a person that has never lived at your telephone number? Please respond to tomprice50@gmail.com Just put FMS in the subject line. You don't have to put much in the body of the email. I just want to know how pervasive this problem is? I filed a complaint with the NC Attorney Generals office. I would like you all to do like wise. If there is enough people that they are harassing wrongly I will see if we can sue for improper collection practices. Maybe a class action suit! please only respond if they are improperly calling you number

fms call from walter smith. advised to take off list. they were polite but well see if the calls continue.  how do these people find the phone numbers anyway?

Walter Smith has called for months no one by the asked name is here.  How do we stop this?

I wonder if their continual harrassment is illegal?
I signed up for a DO NOT CALL list long ago so they're the only spam caller.'
Maybe is Florida which is pretty scummy along with Nigeria that allows such garbage!

I have been receiving messages almost daily for about 6 months now.  They are looking for someone that does not live here, nor have they ever lived here or been at my phone number.  I did a web search and found that if you call 1-800-580-7611 as suggested, they will use your contact as a vehicle to get around the do-not-call list rules.  So I have not called them.  I just want it to stop.  I usually get only the tail end of a recording ".......representative.  We will disconnect at this time".  But twice now I have got complete recordings on my voice mail.  The caller is Walter Smith with FMS, Inc.  He states it is about collections and advises the person they are looking for to call 1-800-530-3819 to speak with a representative.

I am so tired of these obnoxious calls. I dont know who they are looking for but they need to find the right phone number!

"This is FMS.  If you would like to speak to a representative, please press 1.  Otherwise, the call will be disconnected. " I hang up but they keep on calling with the same message.  There is no way I would want to speak with a representative of a company with no information about what the call is about.  However, I get these calls about every 2 days and sometimes 2 times per day.  Very annoying and very stupid!

FNS inc. has been calling my mothers house about once a week for a month now. I got the number from her and called them back they asked me to reference my mother's telephone number then a man came on the line and said "this is walter smith are you ______?" when I answered yes he asked me to verify my address. I told him no, that I would not give him my address because I did not know who he was. He replied to this very rude, "why are you on the phone then?, if you will not give your address I am ending this call". Then he hung up on me. I think this is a scam. I do not owe anyone any money and will not give personal information to a stranger!

Wow, if this works maybe I should try it.  The problem is the calls stop for awhile and then they start again.  They have promised to take my number off their calling list 3 times but nothing changes.  I think they send lists out to a lot of different people and promise them a few cents for every call they make.  I am 82 years old and have had 11 hours of back surgery.  I have told them I would sue if I fall trying to get to the phone to answer their calls, but that doesn't  change anything.  I even tried to let the answering machine moniter their calls but then the legitimate callers are inconvenienced.  Someone needs to help!
