- Anon A NonDebt Reduction Scam. Starts with an automated message, " Due to these hard times...blag, blag, blah... press 1 now to have your interest rates lowered to zero".
Of course I pressed 1...might as well have some fun with some scammers while I am home quarantined and Bored!
Man came on the line, extremely HEAVY accent stating his name is "Tony Brown" (yeah, right buddy, not with that accent it is). Stated he would lower my interest rate to 0% and reduce my debt. He asked which card I was interested in accepting this opportunity for, Visa or Mastercard. I stated for my Visa card. He asked for the exp. date, gave phony date. Then he said this is for the American Express Card starting with 47**, I said no, this is for my Visa, I don't have an American Express Card. He started speaking a foreign language with someone and then hung up. Hmmm, I guess he didn't want to lower my interest rate to 0% and reduce my debt afterall... LOL- Caller: Card Member Services

- Carplex Wongotweet| 1 replyScammers of this type call frequently. I waste their time by playing along. I give them a fake card number and when it doesn't come back as valid, I tell them that I was deliberately wasting their time. When they inevitably become agitated, I do one of two things; tell them that I am the God Baal and they must bow down and worship at my feet or I start oinking and squeaking. I tell them that this is the sound of their mother having sex with a pig and that is why they have a little, curly tail. This usually infuriates them enough to hang up.

- KTI received about 5 calls from this number in a 24 hour period. I was skeptical it was a scam. They did leave a voicemail saying they were calling from CitiBank about my account. I logged on and sure enough, I somehow let my payment go late by mistake. I have made the payment and the calls have stopped. While some scammers may be spoofing this number, it could also be legitmate.

- Tedejr replies to Carplex WongotweetGood for you. I suspect that they are spoofing the number. No utility would allow the use of a legitimate toll free exchange for a scam. Anyway, if they are spoofing, it may be through a web service that charges by the minute for each connection. The longer you keep them on, the more they pay.
BTW, yes, I also fork with their head. But not as elaborately as you have. - Rabbi RickThis is a scammer pretending to be from Citibank, and other financial institutions,
