- Hater of LiesThis is a Collection Agency which fails to identify itself as such. They use a canned scipt to sound like they are from the Government or IRS.
The person who called me said it was "a Message about a very important legal and tax matter." Tread carefully with these people; Any company willing to trick you to get you to call them back can't be trusted.- Call type: Debt collector
- nikcrsI received the same call today. They said their name was "Federal," and they had an important message about a legal and tax manner. I called to tell them they had the wrong number, and they asked for my information. They guy on the phone was so rude when I told him it was none of his business, that I hung up on him. Thanks for posting messages about them. I went ahead and blocked their number from future calls.

- Called in NCReceived msg on my machine yesterday that said I or my attorney needed to call Ivy back at 866-552-1035 extension 244 regarding a "legal tax matter". This scared the daylights out of me! We are currently making payments to the IRS as our taxes which were due this past year were more than we could pay in one lump sum. When I got this message, my heart jumped and I immediately went into a state of panic. I thought for some reason the IRS was going to cancel our payment plan or suddenly we had gotten on the IRS' "bad list". How dare this company use such a scare tactic!
I called the number back at 5 a.m. this morning knowing no one would be there, but hoping I would get a recording which would identify the company--in case my assumption that it was truly the IRS was incorrect. Ivy's voice mail said she is with Federal Pacific. When I googled Federal Pacific after that, that's when I found out it was a collection agency. --That's when my heart slowed down!- Caller: Federal Pacific

- FraudThis is a fraudulent company. I've been getting the same threatening "legal and tax matter" call for a while now. I finally decided to call "Ivy" back and find out what these threats were all about. Turns out they were trying to collect on a debt from over 8 years ago that I legitimately paid and closed years ago. Their big mistake was asking me to give them my social security number. No legitimate collection agency would ask for a social security number if the debt they're trying to collect is REAL!!! My husband happens to be a lawyer so the next time they call they get to speak to my attorney.

- Joe| 2 repliesThey have been calling me for the last 3 months warning me of a "potential legal matter". I never called back since I am not aware of any legal trouble that I could be involved on. This morning I they left a message in my phone at work stating that the call was to try to resolve an issue with the IRS and that his decision could highly affect me with the IRS and my tax status. The guy name was Ti (don't know if spelled correct)and his extension is 244. I decided to call the IRS and they recommended me to search for the phone number on the internet. I ended up on this site..thanks God..!! I was scare that I have done something wrong with the IRS (whom I don't mess with). I don't know if this is an illegal practice, but the law should go after these scammers.

And this is a list of federal lawsuits filed against Federal Pacific alleging violations of federal debt collection and credit reporting laws: http://dockets.justia.com/search?query=Federa ... 2&max-year=2008
I suggest you do the following:
1) File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
2) File a complaint with your state's attorney general. The contact information for each state's attorney general is at www.naag.org Just scroll down to the national map graphic and click on your state.
3) File a complaint with the Utah attorney general at http://attorneygeneral.utah.gov/contact.html
4) Check your credit report to make sure Federal Pacific Credit has not reported false information on you. (If they have, sue them.)
5) Send Federal Pacific Credit a letter directing them to cease all communication with you, and warn him that you will pursue legal sanctions against him under the provisions of the FDCPA if they fail to comply. Be sure to send the letter via certified US Mail with a return receipt request, and save a copy of your letter. If they contact you more than once after receiving your letter, then they are in violation of the law and you can lower the boom on him in court for fun and profit.

Looked the number up and low and behold, I found this information. Will send out the certified letter tomorrow. Jerks.
- dianaReceived phone call at 8:35 PM! The lady agent did not want to be specific as to where she was calling from. Only said "FPC". I got a little worried. Looked up the numer and found this. This isn't the first time they contact me - they've been bothering me for the last 6 months for a debt that's more than 7 years old and that I resolved about 4 years ago! I already sent them proof that my debt was paid, and contacted the credit bureau - they erased that debt from my credit report. What is wrong with them?

- collecthearts46 replies to ecThanks for all that info! I have been dealing with these people since last year. They say I have a dept from 98. I explained that I did in no way occur this and explained why, then the man switched me to intercom, said he was tired from phone calls all day, and that it was just me and him...I cut the call short and hung up. The next two people said they will go thru my taxes...I'm just going to give them back the crap they're dealing out...I don't like their sneaky tactics, let them take me to court!
- scam targetI have been getting calls for two years from these tricksters. It's always the same canned pitch ... "I'm calling about an important legal and tax matter that will affect you ... I have to make a decision on this soon ... when you call, refer to case number _ _ _ _".
I urge anyone who is receiving these calls to contact your State Attorney General and report it! This company is using unfair and illegal telephone solicitation practices to lull unsuspecting people into a collection scam. - John| 1 replyGot call from Federal Pacific (801-972-4550). Callers name was "Ty Bradley." Was trying to collect on some bogus credit card debt. Claimed he would contact IRS. Hung up on him and he called back. Asked him to send a letter in the mail and he said "absolutely not." He was ranting about what he was going to do when I hung up on him.

- Alfalfa replies to JohnTell "Ty" the next time he calls you do NOT need his permission to send his bosses a letter demanding that they validate the debt they are calling about. Furthermore, you can inform him that you are filing a formal complaint with the FTC for violations of Section 809 of the FDCPA for refusing to comply with your verbal request for debt validation:
§ 809. Validation of debts [15 USC 1692g]
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing --
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer's written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor.
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
(c) The failure of a consumer to dispute the validity of a debt under this section may not be construed by any court as an admission of liability by the consumer.

Dear {insert name of collector or company},
I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.
This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state)
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:
because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
you do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA;
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.
I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.
