    I didn't receive the call myself, my Dad forwarded it to me through email, when I got home from work I remembered I hadn't listened to it, when I did I was shocked. I could not think of a reason I would get that kind of phone call threatening me with legal or IRS issues! Luckily I did some research and found this information before I started panicking.

    Received a phone call from this outfit. Was not home but they left a number and noticeably did not identify themselves. That was the first thing that caught my attention. Ran the number on the Internet and just what I suspected a whole sham outfit. Will stay clear of them and will not return any call to them.

    I have worked in Collections for 10 years and got a message from "Federal Pacific" stating a possible IRS matter and Legal matter. I knew I didn't owe the IRS any more and I also thought they were a scam and ignored them. In the 1st week of February, in the mail I a 1099-C and after researching what that was I found out that when you don't pay a bill a company can file and you now pay the IRS taxes. Lucky for me this was a bill that I had already paid off and once I provide them proof that I paid it they closed my account.

    We keep getting calls from 866-552-1035 about returning their call.  Somebody keeps calling for Robert Pratt.  There is nobody in this household by that name.  I called the number and told them that nobody lives here by the name Pratt and that I have lived here for 28 years.

    They have been calling me for the last couple of months and I haven't answered because I didn't know the number. Then on the voice mails they have left the same message about a tax and legal issue, but won't say what it is about. Then today I got a call from the same guy that always calls saying that now he is with Federal Law Firm to give him a call back at the same number he always leaves. Still have no idea what they are calling for.

    I keep getting a call from this number saying it is, "from an attorney"  and that I should call back.  These people obviously think this scare tactic will get you to call back.  What a bunch of idiots.

    This is a scam. The company also uses the number 800-460-6141. They claim they are a law firm and need a couple of digits of your social security number to verify your claim. The name of the company is Bushers and they located on Olive Way in St. Louis, MO. They are not a law firm or collection agency. It looks like they are listed as a lawn service.

    I've received several calls from this number - (3 started at 8:00 a.m. this morning, ended when I called at 10 this morning)  identify themselves as from "Attorney Chad Stetwar, Law" then give the 866-552-1035 number to call.  Issue is the person they are asking for does not live here.  I called to tell them, "Rachel" asked who I was and how I was related to the person they were calling for.  Told them I wouldn't answer any of their questions, and why were they calling me for a person who doesn't even have the same last name as I do?  She woudn't answer, said it was "in the file."  Then asked me to identify myself, where I lived, my address, etc.  Said they were harassing me and told them NOT to bother me again or I would report them.  She got very rude and said she couldn't help me if I didn't verify who I was, I told her they had my number and to take it off their list.  Said it might take a few days.

    This company reported themselves as a "Chad Stewart Law Firm" and stated that they were calling regarding a debt for a "Bradley" and my last name.  There is no such person at my home or to my knowledge.  I have no past due debt.  They did refer to themselves as debt collectors representing a law firm.  They provided, on their message, an address of PO Box 27198, Salt Lake City, UT  84127.  I hope that this is helpful for anyone being harrassed by this company, and I hope that Bradley burns in hell.

    Yes I received the same kind of "Official" call from these people at 866-552-1035 stating that they were handling a very important legal matter and either me or my attorney must call them back. The real funny thing is when the phone company listed my name in the phone book they printed the wrong first name and that was the name this fly-by-night outfit asked for.

    I'm not going to waste the time to call them back,  as if they do have a debt under the name they were asking for it isn't me.

    What a joke!

    800Notes is not a clearinghouse to stop unwanted calls. Here is a press release from the FTC to help you deal with unruly debt collectors and stop the calls:

    Who's Calling? That Debt Collector Could Be a Fake

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    Do not give the caller personal financial other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>
