They claimed to be the fraud department of a credit card company.  They told me my credit card would be frozen until I entered my personal information.

DO not take calls from this number!  It is fraudulant.  They are trying to get your identification informatin (social security, license, address, etc...) so that they can create credit cards, etc.. in your name and steal your identity.  This is a SCAM.  Watch out!!!

Got an automated call asking for my husband (who was not available at the time). They left this number along with a "message code" that he is instructed to enter when he returns the call. It also left 302-457-1650 if he would be calling from outside the US.

The day after I got a call from this number, a freeze was put on our credit card. I called the number on the credit card (not this 866 number) and they verified that they had placed a freeze because they had seen some questionable charges. The charges were all legitimate. They verified that the 866 number was a number for their fraud alert service and that it was a legitimate number. I would still recommend calling your credit card company rather than a number provided by a phone message.

Claimed a lot of fraud activity on my credit card and claimed to be the fraud unit. Said they had a hold on my card until I called and verified the activity.  They provided an extension: 934559.

I received the same call everyone else describes, suspicious activity on the account, call this number, use this 6 digit message code.

Well I did NOT call the number they gave me. Instead I called the number on the back of my card. The customer service rep said there was a "fraud flag" on my card and transferred me to a different department.

I had bought a laptop online the day before and that charge was large enough and different enough from my previous charge history to be flagged automatically by the card company's fraud detecting algorithm. All I had to do was confirm that it was a real charge and the flag was lifted.

So although I did not call the number the fact that there really was a fraud flag on my card on the day the call came in is strong circumstantial evidence that the number is legit. That being said you should ALWAYS call the number on your card or on your statement. A customer service rep can always transfer you to whoever you need to speak to.

The telephone number 866-559-0021 is a legitimate number of FIA Card Services , one of the country's largest credit card managers. You can verify this number by calling the number on the back of whatever credit card the mysterious phone call referred to when they gave out the last four digits of your card.

If they called you, they are trying to help verify that some of the unusual charges were indeed made by you. It is a helpful service and not a scam call.

My call from them was also legitimate (and not a great surprise).  But when I called the provided number, the message code they provided me didn't work.  It would have helped if they identified the card they were representing - fortunately it was the one my wife and I most often use so I could guess which card to call.  If you know what card might be raising the flags, you can't go wrong calling the card.

My call from this number was also legitimate.  I am not sure why they called me based on the charges they were asking about, but was painless to go through the process of verifying the charges.

I'm also very suspicious of calls about fraudulent activity because they're usually asking for info to scam you. So, I also called the number on the back of my card instead and indeed there was a fraudulent charge and they're issuing me a new card. If you get a call from this number and are still paranoid about calling back, just dial the number on the back of your card.

this is not a legit number.  if you press 5 0's you get told to call 800-426-1763, which goes to card holder services, you know raceal with the low interest rates.

This was actually FIA Card Services Fraud detection.  I do not provide information either when receiving such requests. I caled FIA Card services number on the back of my card and I did have a fraud detection alert set on the account (which actually turned out to be false positive).

Same advice as above, never provide personal information for such requests unless you have called the number on the back of your card.  It turned out in this case the original number was legitamte.

It was FIA card services.  I refused to call the number based on the varied opinions here so I called the customer service number and was directly routed to the Fraud detection department.

So, it was legitimate.  I complained that their call reeks of a scam.  The service rep was very pleasant and I'm sure immediately dismissed my concerns. Have a nice day!!!

It is actually from FIA and is legitimate. I advise, however, that you call only the number on the back of your credit card when receiving a call from this number.

I got a legitimate call from FIA (Fidelity) card services fraud department. The number is for an automated system. I couldn't understand the name of the company where the charge was made, so I called the number on the back of the credit card and talked to a rep, who verified that the charge was attempted. They reversed the charge. If in doubt, call FIA directly and ask if there have been possible fraudulent charges.
