- dejesus replies to Mark| 7 repliesIf this is true, then this world is becoming a joke with any joe blow being able to report on your credit report. If I don't pay my credit card, I stole merchandise and I should get penalized with poor credit. If my meter runs out for 5 minutes and some reflective vest wearing moron decides to leave Blenz for a 20-minute walk around his or her 'area' you can kiss my ass. I know if I get enough of them my car will go bye bye and I have to pay for the tow and walk all the way to Terminal to get my car. Thats enough of a deterant for me to pay for street parking.
If the City just put them against your licence so you had to pay when you renewed your insurance (the actual fine not the BS "penalties" that they have arbitrarily decided to impose which have no real credibility) then they wouldnt need these P.O.S. collection companies who actually think they have important jobs. I hate all these losers. They are pompus. They are full of un- and semi-educated losers who are too lazy to get the skills to get a better job like everyone else does. Oh, congratulations on that 30% commission you got on that $100 ticket. You sure earned you ramen noodles for the rest of the week. Do you have a Linkedin account with the profession 'Professional Collector'? I bet you are proud of what you do for a living. Good job. The worl is a better place because of you. <applause>
I will not pay this until I absolutely have to. I don't think it ruins your credit. If they can indeed (and I really dont understand how they have the ability to do this in this situation) place it on you file as an outstanding amount, I would think it is as the lowest possible R# (ie. not you defaulting on a loan). Pay it when you have to and you're all good. I highly doubt it is an item that will follow you around for seven years. - Suckered replies to dejesus| 4 repliesI don't think you understand the concept of a "collection item" my mortgage broker explained it to me. There are two separate places where you can get reported. There is a list of creditors and a list of collection items, I don't remember their "real" names but, I'm sure you get it. A collection item does not reflect as an R# or I# but as a collection item. Basically, it will show the collection agency name and the creditor they collect on behalf of. If no creditor is listed, then they had probably purchased the debt.
In the case of Vancouver parking tickets, they are SENT to collections not SOLD to collections. It's reported as a collection item to your credit report after 30 days (or maybe 60, I don't know.) ICBC has nothing to do with the city so it would not effect the licensing program. So I guess, either pay them, or ruin your credit for 6 years, do the walk of shame AND THEN pay them anyways.. All this was in the news when this first happened.. Just pay your parking tickets and move on with your life.
Sounds to me you just have a lot of butt-hurt for having terrible credit. ;) - JOHN DOE replies to dejesusTHEY DO REPORT THESE TICKETS I AM A FINANCE MANAGER AND SEE IT ALL THE TIME, I WAS JUST INQUIRING FOR SOMEONE ABOUT IT AND HERE I AM
- JOHN DOE replies to dejesus| 1 replyIT DOESNT SHOW AS AN R# JUST A COLLECTION, AND I SHARE YOUR PASSION FOR THE WHOLE SCENARIO OF SENDING IT TO A COLLECTION COMPANY AND IT GOING ON YOUR BUREAU, BUT I CAN GUARANTEE THATS WHAT HAPPENS. YOU CAN CHECK YOURSELF THROGH EQUIFAX.CA AND SEE YOU REPORT FOR ABOUT $20
- AROINCIT'S A SCAM!!! DONT CALL BACK
- MyUrbanGarden replies to dejesus| 1 replyRegarding City of Vancouver parking tickets...I have a commercial parking permit and asked a commissionaire about the current policy and procedures. This is what he told me...
CoV recently changed their collection policy and now sell the debts to a collection agency (as of 2011). Prior to the change, ticket payment was unenforceable, now the city simply washes its hands of the debts.
Tickets issued before the change are still unenforceable. Now? A couple of tickets won't affect anyone's credit rating (this from a credit agency), but accumulate enough tickets and it could possibly affect it.
The big change regarding towing...the threshold for towing was lowered to 4 tickets and the commissionaires are instructed to specifically target and ticket vehicles with 3 already outstanding.
It is not simply parking tickets...the CoV is cracking down on all traffic offenses. They pull out tape measures to check that vehicles are the required distance from the corner (I saw a ticket given to a vehicle that was 18 inches too close). They guys from Buster's now cruise the streets like sharks--precisely at 3pm--nailing anyone still there at 3:01pm...5 or 6 of them will swoop in and empty an entire block at once.
Nobody seems safe...I've seen taxis, 18-wheellers, greyhound buses and even a CoV Engineering vehicle getting tickets.
Personally, I think this is how the city intends to pay off the Olympics. - jimmy dougie bobby| 1 replyI suggest moving to a better province...
Vancouver is overpriced and if you stay there you will wonder why you didnt leave when you could have- Caller: bs
- vancouver ain't so bad....Glad I didn't answer. It's awesome that it only shows up as a default on your credit rating. I don't want or need credit from anyone so it isn't at all an issue for me. The usual alternative is that like a speeding ticket it shows up when you renew insurance or a driver's license. I recently renewed both and there was no mention of a ridiculous Vancouver parking ticket I have no intention of paying. Meters in residential areas? A $40 ticket that goes to $160 after a couple of weeks? Screw that kind of extortion.
- jlem| 7 repliesYou guys r ridiculous.
I am a debt collector and use to work for ARO INC they have 3 branches one in markham ontario, kelowna bc and montreal quebec. aro.ca check it for yourself. you always have to verify dob and address before proceeding with the call, all the info is infront of us. it is only for security purposes since calls are recorded. pull up ur credit bureau and check it. lol it will say it will say it was reported to ur cb from aro. lol.
by ignoring the calls..u allowd ur credit to b affected, while when u first get into collections u have a certain time frame before it is affected..soo in a few words..ur an idiot. lol- Caller: Aro
- Willow replies to jlem| 1 replyHiya pot, meet kettle. When you come here using text speak, you appear to be an idiot as well.
Nevertheless......not everyone who has posted to this thread owes the money, which makes these calls a nuisance that should be ignored (by the ones who DON'T owe). So you can just take your generalization that the people here are ridiculous and go back the bridge you crawled out from under. - Sir Bedevere replies to jlemWhy is it that everyone who works for one of these collection outfits is an illiterate knuckle-dragger who expresses himself like a high school drop-out who's smoked too many joints?
- Tamianth replies to jlemLooks like another weiner for the Awards!
Here's your award!
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_t2XtzNscZxc/SXcMp0p ... 400/Idiot+1.jpg - dejesus replies to jlemGet real - you need this info to "serve" us with an official letter. Listen - my credit is great. I have a good income. If ARGO or whatever the hell they call their 3 or 4 person outfit with no signage on the ront door has the ability to report unpaid parking tickets it may be shown on the report but not as an outstanding debt unpaid. I highly doubt I would lose a mortgage with a family income over $125,000 over an unpaid $70 fine. They could not have the right phone number. They could actually have the wrong person. If it came down to it - you pay it, bring your updated credit report - done.
Why don't I pay it? Because these cockroaches think they have the ability to add on lump sum "interest" to these small debts and maybe its my personal vendetta. For example - I had a $300 owing from when I was a student 15+ years ago. I know the Statute of Limitations is 7 years (varies by Province). Another "company" keeps sending me an invoice once every three months for $1,490!!!! that I can pay in 100 million installments or I can pay the balance outstanding of $300 and they'll drop the interest. Can you beleive this sh*t? They know they have no ability to collect on a 15-year old debt and they know they have no obligation to collect the $1190 in interest some math wizard in their "firm" came up with.
F*ck off collection agencies. Yes people who work for these firms have no education. Maybe they are students trying to make money to support their school. But for the most part - its younger people who were too unmotivated to get a post-secondary education to do anything better with their lives and hear of collecting commission from the odd suckers to get them the odd $500 paycheck they can cash at money mart.
I live downtown. I pay for parking 95% of the time. I've easily paid the City of Vancouver hundreds of dollars over my life to use their streets to put my vehicle on while I spend more money in a restaurant or a store. ARCO - go get bent. I'll pay this if/when I need to. - BBBunch of scammers. Who believes anything these third party piece of craps say anyway. anyone with a phone can set up "a collection agency" in their parents' basement.
- DerpThese guys are fools. They keep leaving me messages saying they represent Revenue Canada (who I am in perfect standing with) then they finnaly get through to me in person and the guy tries to tell me its a revenue issue and he represents revenue canada, but he cant tell me anything until I verify my address because it is a 'Provincial matter'
Oh, the 'provincial branch' of the 'federal' Revenue Canada? What a clown.- Caller: ARO
- pfft replies to jlemOk, explian to me what the is provicial Revenue Canada issue is, since when did Revenue Canada represent a provincial matter. Fuuuuu
- wiggins adjustmentsAnyone with an Android Phone, please just download the "Calls Blacklist" app, and block the number of any collector as soon as they call. Problem solved and peace of mind. :)
- nursegot a call from 888 563 7673, however call back and it sounds like a sex line! hilarious. we get calls from ARO, perhaps another idiotic ploy, i hung up
- KatieI just called them, pushed 0 for "receptionist" as soon as she answered I asked her to please stop calling my number.
She asked for my number and I gave it to her, she then proceeded to ask if 3 different people with 3 different last names resided at this house---maybe she thinks I live in a boarding house-- I said no, and please so do not call ever again. She said, "sure no problem" in a bored voice and I hung up...we shall see.- Caller: ARO
- MelI also received these calls. I was ticked for parking on my OWN residential street with a permit that had expired 2 days prior. PS the ticket price for parking on your own street, where you live, in Vancouver is ENOURMOUS. In any case, I wanted to confirm these calls are mostly likely on behalf of the city of van for parking. Whether we get hit on our credit remains to be seen.
