- JOyWhat is it?
- consomewhat disturbing statement probably meant to be a joke to certain groups of people.
- r17| 2 repliesthis phone number told me i signed up for a service that required a pin and i have never done so. they charged my cell phone bill and i couldn't even tell you how to get to this service. they told me they would not charge my phone anymore but would not refund the money for the first month even though i never used this service and was not aware i even had it. we'll see if they hold true to their word.
- John| 2 repliesthis company is a scam. they chrge $9.99 to your cell phone bill when you open an unsolicited text message about an "opera ringtone". you need to call your cell provider and insist that they investigate. they will tell you to text back a 5 digit number and type "unsubscribe". this will not work since you never subscribed.you will also be advised to call this 866 616 6076 number. good luck getting thru to them. I am currently working with verizon detailed acct manager to investigate and remove these charges. my advice is be persisteant with your carrier to have them stop the scammers. they will try to have you do it, but your carrier is facilitating the scam by saying its not their company placing the charge on your bill.

- dspreng replies to John| 1 replyWho are you working with at Verizon? My daughter had the same thin happen to her this month. I called Verizon and they told me to send a text message back to unsubsribe. The message needs to be in ALL CAPS otherwise they won't take you off their list. It sounds more comlpicated than that.
- JoeTo am getting these various texts and I did not sign up for the service. I got a hold of the people and the told m that my kids downloaded it. I said no kids I was to old then they said I forgot because of my age. I am currently working with verizon on this mater and I am getting great response.
- PaulSeems to be plaguing Verizon cell phone customers. I called in once and the rep said it was a third party charge in which they have no control over, nor could she credit my account. When I found out that I was not alone, I called back again and demanded it be removed from my bill. They gave me a curtesy credit and requested that I send a text message to 75714 with the word "stop". How will I know if this will stop future messages??!!
- AnnetteMy son was receiving a horoscope text daily from this code # 75714. Verizon was very helpful and credited my account. He did not sign up for this or any service. They also charge you to text them back to stop or unsubscribe. Contact your service provider for a credit. I tried to unsubscribe not sure if it worked.
- TerrySame thing here. Case #75714 ph:8666166076 opera ring tones. My daughter swears that she's never signed up for anything. Verizon told me to send back a text message saying stop. She also said that a text message was better than trying to get through using the phone number. Is there a lawyer on this board?

- Laurie| 1 replyGot my verizon bill. Premium txt message charge to my sons line for $9.99 from this PRE_SMS757141-866-616-6076opera ring tone. He doesn't know anything about it. Never subscribed to anything. Called Verizon they said they couldn't do anything about it. I called this number and they told me my son went to the website called bigtimecrush.com and subscribed. He's never even heard of this website let alone been there! I told them to take his number off their list and I would like our money refunded, to which they said they couldn't do that, but they would unsubscribe him. Now, how the heck did he get subscribed in the first place. Something is very wrong here. It looks like it is happening to many Verizon customers. I am waiting for a call back from Verizon, I want to talk someone higher up! This needs to stop.

- Jean replies to LaurieThe same thing has happened to my son. Verizon told me they couldn't do anything and that my son had to answer yes confirming he wanted the subscription three times. He never even did it once. She refused to help and told me to call the number on my bill. I held listening to music for an hour. This does need to stop. I am going to call verizon again.
- JPI found this charge on my bill today. I called Verizon and the rep kept me on the line and called the 866 number listed in the charge and told that company she had a customer who wanted to "opt out". The Verizon rep then credited me for the $9.99. Its is a scam. I never signed up for any service from this company. My rep said somehow they get your phone number from text message that go out into the world.
- Dawn| 1 replyI am a cell service employee. Unfortunately, this is not the responsibility of the Cell Service Provider as these undesired companies are not owned or operated by your service provider. These undesired companies (ex: DadaMobile, Opera Ringtone, ThumbPlay) need to be dealt with directly or by reporting them to the BBB or FCC. Your service provider has details to provide to you to contact the undesired services, if the person who you speak to does not have it, ask for someone who may.
Keep in mind most carriers provide restrictions you can apply to the phone, either directly from the phone or thru their system. You can either read the manual for the phone or call the service provider & ask them to apply blocks as needed (usually this function is an "all or none" application, though).
I'll try to post the most "popular" companies contact information to this site within the next 3 days.
Just remember, it's not that your cell provider dos not want to help, they are unable to prevent it as the cause did not originate from them. Our goal is to provide you with cellular service which could include requests from 3rd party venders for additional services either not offered by your provider or where services are lacking in detail. Your provider is only the "middle man" & can not directly monitor specific usage unless it could be deemed illegal.
And, by the way, YES, two users on my account HAVE signed up for these types of services in the past. I DO know how you feel & what you're going thru.- Call type: Unwanted
- Mad replies to r17How long did you have to hold before anyone answered? I am at 7 minutes and have heard nothing but music.
- TerryI too have the same issue and again it's with Verizon. My son never subscribed to anything and we received the 9.99 charge. I too called customer service who gave me the number to call to unsubscribe and heard nothing but music for 37 minutes.

- SleddogI got the same thing on one of my business lines. I called and they said that the PIN was entered at 3:16 PM and cancelled 10 minutes later. This is the phone that my wife uses and she knows better. I am going to call the Indiana Attorney General office regarding this scam. Suggest everyone contact the AG of their state, and if enough heat gets on these people maybe they will stop. The AG of Indian is not afraid to file a class action if necessary
- JanThis is from a ring tone company that is spamming cell phones. Report this to your phone company immediately. You will get a huge charge each and every time from this place. It comes under premium text messaging.

- IT Manager| 2 repliesThese companies must be making millions off this scam. I don't care if it's a third party company that is charging my accounts. The only bill that I see comes from Verizon so it should be their responsibility. What would happen if Verizon simply didn't pay these little scam artists? One of my users was somehow signed up for 4 of these Premium Text Services. As our phone bill is usually 300+ pages long I didn't catch these little charges for a couple of months. That's $80 just pissed away and Verizon won't lift a finger to help. Maybe I should take our $30,000 annual cell phone account somewhere else?
- MelissaMy sister had these charges associated with her phone number on my bill, but the bill said that she had sent them a text message two hours before the charge came in. She said she didn't.
Did any of your bills say that you sent a message? - Mom of 2x2Same thing happened here! Just got a charge for 2 "Premium TXT Messaging" messages at the tune of $19.98. Not a lot but still. I wonder if I missed it on the bill before? Called Verizon to find out what it was and was told the same thing, that it was through a third party for something such as a free wallpaper or ringtone. Only problem is when they send the text message to get the "free" item, it signs them up for a subscription. Which my daughter swears she didn't do. After explaining that to me, I was given two different 800 numbers as it was two separate subscriptions. This is such crap. I will call these numbers & see where I get.
