I also received a message from this company, suspicious when they were using my old married name so when I asked who they are or what they want they said wouldn't provide any information until I assure I am the person they are looking for so I said "I am not saying anything until you confirm who you are" then she said "well, when you can confirm who you are call us back" and she hung up on me!  Very rude people, my phone didn't display a business name so I don't know which company they called from.  I am not calling back, and will block this number.

The number calls my cell at least four times a day. I do not owe anyone money, no bad credit. I just want them to stop. A voice tells you to hold and then offers you stuff to buy.

I see that I have posted the permanent solution to your problem on page 9.  You can use it to stop the calls, or not.  Up to you as it is your choice.

I read all these comments after getting a call from this number. I did not answer....and we do NOT have any debts so they wouldn't be trying to recover any debt from us but maybe trying to get personal info. They are now blocked.

They want my social security number.  The other part of this is... I live in Washington state on the west coast.  They must be on the east coast because they're calling before the crack of dawn.

This company buys old debts, over 7 years old.  No longer valid because of statue of limitations.  The buy them for 10 cents on the dollar. ( $1,000. debt for $80.00)  Then they harass you to try and collect.  People who don't know will agree to make arrangements to pay the old debt.  It has been written off buy the original company and is no longer on their records.  Problem is, once you agree to pay it, the time on the debt starts over.  IGNORE ALL CALLS FROM NUMBERS YOU DO NOT KNOW.  Also, thier callers are very rude and filthy mouthed.

I would still like someone to tell me where that "statue" is located.  All I can find is a law called the Statute of Limitations, which does not affect the validity of the debt or the time they have to try to collect on it.  It only states how much time they have to legally sue for the debt.  I notice that you have posted that same misinformation several times now, as I know I have corrected you at least once or more.  Purposely misleading people is neither prudent nor helpful.

    Hey BigA
The information that Kevin is posting is correct.  The Statute of Limitations is usually 4, 5 or 6 years.  At 7 years (+ 6 months) any debt has to be removed from your credit report.
Scumbag Bill Collectors that buy junk debt can try to collect for as long as they want but since they can't sue you and it is not on your consumer credit report the aged debt is not collectable also know as "Zombie Debt"  Not that they won't try.

Like Kevin and others say just don't answer numbers you don't know.  I recommend that folks use some call blocking software once you see the number is from one of these bottom feeders.  If you accidentally answer do not give them any information such as SSN, full name, etc.

Here is a link to SOL for each state:  https://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/ ... ations-1282.php

Hey "SKipTraceBuster"  both you and "Kevin" are wrong.  SOL varies by state and can be anywhere from 3 years to 15 years depending on the type of debt.  I do not need your link to know that.  The Statute of Limitations, as I have previously stated, and I think we have had this conversation before, only applies to the time they have to sue you. Get it?  Sue.  That has nothing to do with the debt expiring.  Can you understand that simple concept.  Of course, you can certainly provide me with actual proof that I am wrong.  But since you have scuttled your own argument by providing me with that link that clearly states
    Quote:
Collectors have a limited time to file lawsuits over unpaid card debts
.  I think this is the end of this conversation.

If the debt is too old to sue over, too old to show up on your credit reports, and it's your legal right under the FDCPA to have debt collectors stop calling and writing you (just got to let them know)... who cares? Sure the debt is not "forgiven" but for all practical purposes most debts go away after several years if you manage to avoid a lawsuit. Heck even if you get sued you still have a chance of winning, problem is some estimates say 90% of consumer debts end in default judgment.
