- Eileen M. Malloy replies to TeresaI just received charges on my husbands cell phone for Jamster, Mobizzo and something else called Open Market - these charges go back to March of this year and amount to over $169.83 plus taxes each month.
First I read all of this here, found a telephone number to call for Jamster spoke to them and was promised two refund checks but it came too easily for me and after reading those same checks have been known to bounce I looked further into it today.
So I telephoned and filed a complaint with the FCC and at their suggestion also telephoned Verizon even though on the bill it states they are third party related charges and that any disputes should be with that company. Just got off the phone with Verizon who I think handled it extremely well, they checked back on my charges after I told them I filed the complaint and that the FCC advised me that as the agent who billed me for these third party charges they should be held accountable. The end result was I am being issued a full refund credit on my VERIZON bill and any and all taxes related to these charges will automatically also come off my bill as soon as the refund is put into effect which only takes 24- 48 hours. They also put a BLOCK on this account so that NO further charges can come thru which is something that the JAMSTER people said might happen even though they said they had blocked the number...
So people call your telephone companies who are doing the actually billing and they should help you - you may have to first file with the FCC do not know if this had anything to do with my good service and refunds but it sure did not hurt to mention I had filed - only thing is I had just filed and they did not even have time to be notified of anything pending.
Bottom line I think it is the responsibility of the telephone company...by the way the FCC calls what this or these companies are doing 'CRAMMING' and it is apparently done more often they you think. I have to say I am now a believer in Verizon once again.. - Eileen M.
