Have scammers used social security number scams with calls from 866 area code

Apparently so. These ppl called his grandmother's number, his wife's and his as well. They've also been using a different toll free number as well. They leave voice messages  for the person they're calling for (robocalls) on third party voicemails which is illegal. They're calling about alleged payday loan debt.

I just got a call from this number.  It's from Star Point Mitigation.  The voice mail started out with a robo call saying my name. Then a real person came on who talked a little too fast for me to fully understand.  Apparently there's a "complaint" against my social security number and demanded I or my attorney call back immediately.

It seems a little suspicious to say there's just a complaint against me with my social security number attached to it and no further information.  I've blocked the number since I've gotten similar calls before from other 800 numbers but never called back because they turned out to be scammers.

Same thing as abover they call about a complaint against my ss number. They say a muffled first name and then my last name. [***] need to be arrested.

These losers were so excited to finally talk to a live person that they just fast talked through the script about payday loans, a bad check was written, lie after lie, a totally made up HUGE number like $1785.33 and the good old "we can settle out of court today for..." all in less than 2 mins. Once I told them they were a dumb generic scammer intimidating people into paying nonexistent debt, the screaming match started. It was some old guy. He knows hes a scumbag because he started asking for some lady and saying I sounded like her. I will enjoy repeatedly trolling them with a dialer and soundboard, and putting it on youtube. They're amatuers, and I bet they're not gonna last long.

Apparently a collection company that uses heavy-handed threats and intimidation. Or a scammer scaring people inro paying something they don't owe. They have actually treatened to find us and come to our house.

I got  three calls in one day from different numbers. First one said I was on the east coast.  And as soon as i told her that have not been on the east coast in twenty years she hung up. Second number said my info was not in their system.  And never answered the third

Recd scam call from this number stating that there was a complaint filed against my ssn#

Called me saying my name was associated with a social security number that will be going to litigation.

I didn't receive the call. My mom did and they left a voicemail. They said my name in a robot voice, then spoke fast enough that I had to listen a few times to pick up what they were saying. They said that me or my attorney had to call back their free legal department (Starpoint) for them decide what to do for something regarding my social security number. I called their number 1(866) 697-1462 and spoke to someone, asking about my name. Gave my phone number and my mom's number, the one they left the voicemail on. They had nothing to pull under all 3 of those.

As soon as I asked if it could've been a scam call, they said no, they're a professional company, not scammers. Clearly didn't understand that I was asking if someone could be using their company for phishing attempts because she immediately rushed me off the phone. I'd never give my social security number over the phone to an unknown company, nor should I ever have to provide a full social to a professional company.

I got the same call.  This isn't the first time I got a call from this number.  The woman talked so fast I could barely understand what company she was calling from.  I'm glad I saw these posts.

Same as all the above. She talked so fast that as far as where she was calling from all I understood was "Beth...mediation." Maybe that's their tactic. Hoping we'll hear the word mediation and we'll call back to stay out of trouble.

Just like everyone else, left message that my SSN was associated with a complaint and needed to call back.

Received same phone call yesterday ,exactly ad described  ,robot voice then fast talking woman had to listen 3 times to message to make it out smh

Same voicemail as all the above messages. Scammers for sure.

Same experience as everyone else.   I did some digging and then filed an FTC complaint (recommend everyone do this) at www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
Here's the info I found:  The company has a website.  It does not have a Privacy Notice or other legal disclaimers that it should have.  The company was formed (incorporated) very recently - in March 2018.  The location address is a virtual office from a company who owns a building and sells imaginary suite #s - "We will give you your own suite number in our Dover, DE office. You can use our Delaware address for your websites, mail, business cards, and whatever you need."   I called and asked for their Tax ID Number.  The person would not give it to me yet wanted me to give my social.  I blocked the number.

Got the same exact call. 17/19/18 it the 3rd time this week. Just the same old phone scammers.

These losers left a message for my husband's 2nd wife, who he divorced over 14 years ago. ...He sure does not know where she is or does he care.... Good luck you morons..
