This # has called 10 times in the last 3 days, around 9.30 am, 2.30pm and 7.30 pm.  Tried to answer a couple of times - just to send them packing - and no answer or sound on the other side.  Yes, I'm on the "no call list".

Some people have claimed that this is a called from AT&T telemarketers or what I like to call them SPAMMERS. AT&T needs to GET A LIFE, if for any reason we decide that we need to change our phone service, internet service or tv service WE WILL CALL THEM,  There is bit need to have their telemarketers aka spammers hound us, Also what are they not doing something about these spammers by shutting them down.

Calls 2, 3 times a day, 7 days a week.  I don't answer unknown callers. If this is really AT&T, they must be desperate for sales as they do the same thing to your email address!!

Hey there Ann. Just wanted to let you know that this number is not a scam, the people who are calling are telemarketers who are subcontracted by AT&T to sell DirecTV and their U-Verse services. I've looked into it, they call from a building called Servicom in Nova Scotia, Canada. While they aren't working directly for AT&T, it's not a scam.

Keep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!

Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.

If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?

If your call was legit,  telling about it won't  be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer!

Hey there, I'm not sure if you know this. But they will continue to call unless you specifically tell them to "Put you on the do not call list" at which point they are required to stop calling you, this allplies to any company. Just a tip of the trade. Also saying "I'm not interested" at the start of the call will not get them to stop calling.

To be put on the do not call list. It's a very simple thing, all it takes is for you to answer the phone, wait for them to say their first thing, reply with that, and the calls over. It can take up to 30 days to completely remove your number from the system.

While you're not wrong that many scammers are out there, this number (unless someone else is using the same number) is not a scam number. They don't ask for any critical information, they do a simple credit check (that any company does) which for me didn't even require my SSN.

Also, most of the people that don't know why they were being called didn't answer the phone. Thus didn't talk to anyone, I mean why would a sales call leave a message on the phone? It doesn't do the salesmen any good, just wastes time and fills up someone's mail box.

Whether this number is being used by scammers or not has yet to be determined, but the fact that so many people reported about relentless, repetitive calls suggests it is not a call people want to keep receiving. Just because you've had no issue with a caller from this number, it  doesn't mean this number is not being used by scammers or shady telemarketers, of which both are indistinguishable by people who are harassed by calls from this number.

First that never happens.  They will hang up on you before you get that sentence out.  Second, if they actually did honor your request it doesn't take more than a day, since the request is required to be honored immediately.

I think "Joe" and "Just Ask" are a couple of the scammers trying to do damage control.

I don't know how it's possible for them to hang up on you before you can get the sentence out, when their goal would be to talk to you in the first place? Also it takes up to 30 days to completely remove your number from their system, they can click the button to do it, but it doesn't mean that it happens instantaneously.

Nope, just a former Telemarketer who understands how these things work. Also note that there is a difference between a telemarketing "Sales person" and a person who's trying to "scam you over the phone" as a scammer is trying to use your information for malicious purposes, and a telemarketer is no different than the guy at your local car dealership. Just selling different things.

    1.  They hang up on you because they are answering multiple phones, and another sucker looked more interesting.

    2.  Asking a scammer to remove your number from their list is nugatory.  All that does is challenge them to call even more.
