also been receiving calls from this number. i don't know who it is.

Received a phone call from this number.
Showed up as unknown on the caller I.D.

My son answered it and they asked for his brother said it was about his student loans.

called from 1-866-778-4568 stating (a  recording nonetheless) that we are a reference for someone who has a student loan.  they state they are "something, financial institution services."  we dont have student loans and am thinking if someone was using us as a reference, then we would know it.

it was also on a cell phone, weird not on a land line!!!!

Wanted me to call about a student loan someone had put me down as a reference, they are calling me several times a day in the last week.

I wouldn't tell these folks anything.  Pretty fishy.

This is a student loan collection service. My nephew put my cell number down and listed me as contact person. They keep calling me about his debt.

Got a message to return the call regarding being a reference on a student loan.  I called back and the agent asked if my name was Maria, I said no and I don't know a Maria.  He asked if I knew an Ed Lopez and I said no.  He said that they must have put down an incorrect number and they would remove my number from their system.

They were calling me about my ex-boyfriend's loan. I just called them and told them I don't speak with him anymore, and they said they would remove me as a reference. Pretty easy.

It's ED financial, they were just calling to update addresses and phone numbers.  its a student loan service

They seem like a legitimate business, but I still wouldn't give them any information. Even after I told them that I didn't have an account with them they still asked me for my social. Below I posted the links to the Better Business Bureau and their homepage.

Just received a call too. They left a message and spoke very quickly. I don't have a student loan through them - no way I'm calling them back.

It's EdFinancial wanting to ask a question about a loan. Mine was just to verify they had the correct address.

Ed Financial calling to verify my address (they had the correct address).  They said they had returned mail and wanted to verify my address.  They did not need to look up my account or anything; I just said my name.  Slightly fishy.  But I do have an account with Ed Financial, so I'm not going to worry about it.

they are legit. got removed by choosing to ask about a new loan (option 3 maybe?) and waiting for a human. if you wait through the fafsa bit one comes on eventually.

Never ever had a student loan to begin with.  It's A$$ & I.

These guys aren't calling because you have a student loan.  They call because someone listed you as a reference for their student loan.  My sister listed me, and they were just trying to get her phone number because she had it changed.  May be worth calling them back....to whoever listed you anyway :)

Hey.  I thought I'd know it too if someone listed me, but I got tired of them calling like everyday, so I finally called them back.  Turns out it was legit.

My mother has a loan and she gave me as a reference without telling me but I figured it out that I was listed as a reference for her and called her to confirm it so I have to call them back.
