- VeraThis is legit. My son's ex-girlfriend put his name down as a reference some time ago. As soon as my son said he no longer speaks to her, they removed his name from the references.

- LisaThis seems legit. I spoke to someone and they were confirming my son's phone number for his student loans. They had my correct name and his correct phone number (cell) - their automated system had tried to call his cell and must have gotten a bad tone, so the number was marked as invalid. As I was listed as a reference on his student loans, they called me to confirm. They didn't ask for any other information.

- chloethis IS NOT LEGIT in spite of all this stuff listed here. they called my husban's business cell phone and told him (In a recording) he owed money on his "student loan". we are in our 70's and graduated in the 60's. we DO NOT have any "unpaid student loans" plus we know NO ONE who is even in school anymore. they were reported to the fed's for spaming.

- YvonneSaid on recording that I was used as a recommendation for a student loan. I don't know a single person that would list me for a student loan. I set them up as a contact with a silent ring tone.
- BarbaraToday (05/02/12) I received my third call on my land line from this telephone number. The message says it's about someone who gave my name as a reference for a student line. I never called back as I suspect this is a scam. Even if someone does give my name as a reference, I would not agree to be a reference or to sign anything.

- Diane RobertsMy friends have been getting calls from this number and 518-474-0741 because they are listed as references for my daughter's student loan. I called to try and clear up the situation as these are elderly people and do not deserve to be harassed by this company or the 2nd one. I was told that the reason they are being called is because apparently my daughter at some time was late or delinquent with paying her student loan. They said they were calling her references because they did not have current contact information for my daughter. When I went to give them the information, it was the same information they already had.
So, I asked if they could stop calling my friend now that they have current contact info. There reply,NO!!!! We will continue to call until your daughter calls and removes them as references. Okay, that sounds like blatant harassment to me. I gave them what they were looking for and they still refuse to stop harassing my friends. Also, I suggested they call my daughter themselves to clear up this matter and I was told that they cannot call her. Only the computer can. Oh my gosh. What bulls*** is this. She told me that she will update the contact info and the next time the computer calls hopefully my daughter will answer.
This stuff is getting so out of hand. Her effing loan is current to date and these calls will never stop. I thought that once you asked them to stop calling they had to. NOPE. They said not until my daughter calls and makes that request herself. I guess I should have lied and said I was her. Maybe then they would have stopped the calls. However, I actually have morals and principles and wouldn't lie. Guess I am a minority today.
Any other ideas? Oh, but to verify that my daughter is who she says she is, she has to give them her social security number. Makes me very skeptical that they are legit.- Caller: Ed Financial Services
- NoStudentsHereCalls my place of business often; our numbers are not the sort given out at random and are not listed, so this has to be an automated phishing scam of some sort. All the posters saying this is legit, I don't know what company they're calling back because this number goes to a load of tripe. The institution where the loan was procured wouldn't send out sniffers to get their money, they'd call you from a legitimate number. As for the "references" bit, I've never heard of that. I'd be wary.

- AngelaReceived a call today from this number but claiming they were a rep from AT&T which was a complete lie. The call was based out of Connecticut and AT&T confirmed that they are number is in NO way affiliated with that number and the questions and manner the phone call was conducted is NOT standard practice. After doing some research, I found this number is registered under a company called electric.com. I am still in the process of finding out more. If anyone has any further information please post it so these people are not able to scam or take advantage of anyone else. Thanks.
