- gina replies to lucaswenI just recieved a call from these people and the names I got were mrs. hudson dionne green and eric davis. They also had the my ss# and old address new about a car I had along time ago new of a job I had in 1996 but did not know my current address or job and somehow got in touch with me on my boyfriends phone. It was about a check cashing place from 2003-04 but I would swear I paid it off. never crossed my mind in 7 years. They also said they where going to settle out of court as long as I agreed to a payment it went from 1260.00 to 2 payments of 150.00,I was going along with it until I handed my boyfriend over the phone and he started digging deeperand found all this. They also told me I could end up in jail for fraud, but all were very nice to me. I'm very confussed and don't know what to do. The numbers I got were 678-528-7790, 404-963-9752,They did give me an address 2484 brincliff dr. Atlanta, Ga.but said the could not send me anything until I agreed to the payments and gave the my bank card #. I said I would not give that info but I would buy a pre-paid card and pay them like that and they agreed to that. Someone help I'm so confussed.

- donna replies to SandyI received a call from greenbergstein and associates stating I owed a bill from 2005 to a company I never even heard of 1000.com. Stated I owed $2000 but they would settle for $150.00. Can anyone tell me if they have ever had the #1-6798-0306 # on their phone!
- glad to have stumbled onto this pageI am so glad I decided to do a little digging on Greenberg, Stien, and Associates. The guy that called me said his name was Johnathon Daughtery and said he was a processor for G,S, and A and the number is (678)710-8097, which according to my caller ID said it was from Lilburn, GA. I received a phone call about a month ago from someone similar, but had a foreign accent, and that guy threatened my friends. So this time I thought I would be a bit more cautious and as it turned out I was right. The gentlemen that called me today had a southern accent. I called my husband and he said check it out and so I did and I found all these blogs which helped me tremendously! So thank you very much! This group is a fraud and anyone who reads this please don't fall for their tricks.

- Jeramie RennerI received a strang message on my answering machine. The caller identified themself as jon with Greenberg Stein And Associates. The caller said that there was a complaint in their office reguarding a Melanie Warner who used me as a reference and I needed to call them back immediately. I called them back and and told them I didn't know anyone by that name, they simply said ok and there was nothing else that they needed from me. "I'm sure I'll be hearing from them again"

- Joyce replies to File Complaintthey are calling me and leaving the 866 809 6996 number to call back. They are representing themselves as John from Greenberg, Stein and Assoc regarding an "allegation" filed with their firm. I am in bankruptcy and don't owe anyone anything except what is being paid via the court. Glad I looked this up and found more information on them. I am going to let my bankruptcy attorney "contact them"!
- Anon-These ScammersMy husband received a phone call from my father-n-law, stating that his sister-n-law (my father-n-law's) received a call from an agency claiming that they are calling from the "Attorney General's" office trying to collect a debt. Mind you, we never met this sister-n-law of his dad, and they called her threatening for information on my husband! So my father calls my husband, gave him the numner, and he himself called them to find out what it was about for he never affiliated himself with such creditor. They were rude and threatened my husband with legal actions. He told the company he will call them back, because at this point, he knew that I would know what to do. Of course, like most wives, we don't like it when anyone threatens our husband!! Since I work in an environment where I can obtain information, I did a little research of my own! And guess what, nothing was to be found. Which happened to turn up was this site. Which I am elated to find, nonetheless. I just wished that I was the one they spoke with.
I know the law. Their scare tactics didn't work on my husband. He called me to advise me that he made three phone calls today, spoke with three different "legal arbitrators" and was told if he didn't provide the account information, they will file suit. Ok, here is my thing, you called him. Why in the world would you be asking me for MY ACCOUNT information that you should already have in your system? To top it off, they scolded my husband to oblivion, accusing him of "evading" them...if he was evading them, he wouldn't call three times in one day! I find it appalling that they don't have a website, nor decent professionals working. They told my husband if he doesn't pay for the debt, they will have to send his files to the court...you know what, go ahead I say. We will find out who comes out on top. Before the conversation ended, my husband had asked them to send in a letter, proclaiming who they really are, and you know what...the rep told him that if we don't get the letter in the mail within a few days, it means that they have decided to "file suit" against him. Which I find it funny because here is a list of inaccurracies: (1) called someone whom we met probably once, (2) can't tell us who they really are, just "legal arbitrators", (3) can't reference the account number, (4) threatening to file suit, (5) asked the rep to go onsite and show us what their web page html is, and he couldn't find it himself, only put a nastier rep on, and (6) they wouldn't leave a confirmation number. Things that make you say "hmmmmmmmmmmmmm".
I will wait until a letter shows up in the mail...if it's legit, we will work from there. But from all the complaints on here that I have been reading, I don't think we will see it. If you want to be scammers, ,please find people who are living under a rock. We, who live in the real world, knows how to obtain information on such bogus company that Greenberg Stein is trying to incorporate. I "LOL'd" all the way home while talking to my husband...glad I was not on that phone call!!- Caller: Greenberg Stein and Associates
- MarineI received a call from these people cant even say business because they are not legit. DO NOT PAY THEM A CENT. They called in december stating that I owed money. I took care of what they said I owed right then in there. I asked that a receipt be mailed to my home address since december 15. I have made a total of 9 calls to these so called Greenberg, stein and Associates and they continue telling me that they are going to mail me a receipt showing this debt paid in full. It is now march 21 and I have not proof that this debt has been paid. I am done I am reporting this to my bank as FRAUD and going to see about getting the money that these people took back through my bank via the FRAUD department. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE ANY MONEY. IF THEY WERE A LEGIT COLLECTION AGENCY THEY WOULD HAVE MAILED A RECEIPT WITHOUT ONE EVEN HAVING TO BEING REQUESTED 9 TIMES.

- LOLOk folks got a message today from 866-809-6996 they say they're from Greenberg Stein & Associates. They left a message on my answering machine a Ms Hollanberg? stating that there is a case pending against me and to call back before she proceeds with the investigation, gives a case number and when I call the company back to ask who they are and what type of business they are, the girl who answered the phone would only say Greenberg Stein and Assoc. when I asked her what company or type of company she told me she didn't have to repeat herself 20 times and wanted my case number. Then called me a [***] and hung up on me. LOL Then I googled and wow here they are. I figured as much as most legit. companies or Lawyers will tell you when you ask who they are and what they do. Let me tell you a few things that I know NOT TO DO: Number one if you have an old debt and this is what they're trying to collect check out your states Statutes as the one I live in is FOUR years. Every state varies and they can only proceed in the state in which you reside. TWO: NEVER make an arrangement to pay them unless you KNOW you owe this bill because as soon as you agree to make a payment it starts the date all over again, thus there goes your statute of limitations. If they take you to court which I seriously doubt they will make sure that when you get before the judge or if you have to do a sworn statement you tell the judge this has gone beyond the Statue and this is an ABSOLUTE DEFENSE!!!! Furthermore if a legit. collection agency calls you they will give you an address to write to, tell you who they are, tell you who the bill is from originally and they will usually be more than glad to send you paperwork and most times have been sending notices through the mail along with phone calls. So, if they tell you the police are going to show up at your door, tell them you will wait until your local law enforcement arrives and of course the police in your city or town will have the paperwork if it's legit. What happens if these companies buy these old debts for nearly nothing and they hope to scare people into giving out their bank info or to get them to agree to make payments and as soon as you agree to make payments the date of the debt starts AGAIN!!!

- LOL replies to jamesjamesJames, whatever you do if you DO NOT OWE this DEBT, DO NOT AGREE TO MAKE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS. As soon as you AGREE to make payment arrangements this makes the date of the supposed date start all over again!! In other words the statute of limitations has likely run out on this debt check your state's statute. If you agree to make payments or acknowledge this debt they start the date as of the day you make the agreement. Then they have you. They are trying to strong arm people into paying debts they know nothing about or that have passed the statute of limitations hoping you will agree then the old date goes out the window and they have years to try to collect again or even take court action. The state I am from the SOL is 4 years. They have to use the SOL based on the state you reside in and if by chance, which I highly doubt they will take court action but if they do YOU have to make the judge aware that the statute of limitations has gone by and this is an ABSOLUTE DEFENSE!!! Do NOT TALK to this people much less GIVE ANY OF YOUR BANK INFO!!!!
