I ignore them, too.  I never returned the call to the medical debt collector.  No doctor or hospital ever sent a bill that went unpaid.  The 'debt collector,' themselves, never even mailed a bill!  They'll have to do that first before I can do anything.  The 'debt collector' stopped calling after about 5 years.  We just don't do business on the phone with strangers unless the matter has already been initiated in writing through the mail like normal businesses and government agencies do.  Scrue the bogus debt collectors!

the bills are always mailed people just ignore them and throw them away... your insurance company sent you an explanation of benefits... it is the debtor's responsibilty to keep track of their insurance benefits... when do you ever go to a hospital or Dr and not owe anything... if your credit card statement or utility bill gets lost do u not pay those?

Maybe their brains are frozen.  This company NEVER returned that little itty bitty green paper saying they got my letter and they never validated the non-existent debt. Unless they are really creepy nasties who put it on your credit report when they are not permitted to and then you have to dispute it and get it removed. Oh yes, I know this company well!!! They did this over an ambulance bill that was paid off on the first invoice after the insurance paid and even though we had the proof.  When they hire people they prefer that their intelligence quotient be in the negative numbers. Creepus.

Duh, oh brilliant one, I don't owe anything when my insurance has paid 100% of the contractual amount.  So, yes, you can go to the Doctor or Hospital and not owe anything. Wow, you must be great at your job. By the way, are you susan or SUSAN? Creepus

Still, the posts from shameless shills do give us some insight into their thought processes, intelligence levels, and moral development levels.  It's good to know what you're up against when antisocial fraudsters are preying on you - even if you can tell that they're ignorant.

That's a good point - scammers and scofflaw debt collectors have been known to place bogus debts on reports.  Unfortunately, often that means that the consumer actually has to pay a lawyer to send the credit bureaus a letter stating that if the bogus/paid off debt isn't removed, the bureaus will be sued.
