- Fraud| 3 repliesCard members services!! This is a fake company trying to get personal information from you.

- Sheila| 1 replyI work for a company that handles fraud prevention for many different banks. This is our call back ph#. As far as I know it will not show on the caller ID. Please be advised that if you do receive a call and they say to call this number back, you ARE a victim of some sort of fraud already and we are trying to let you know about it. If you are concerned you can call the phone number on the back of your credit card and they will transfer you to us.

- AnnThis is definitely a phishing attempt for personal information. Don't fall for it.
- Caller: cardmember services
- AngeloIt is not fraud or phishing it is Card Member Service Special Research unit so if u receive a call and they adv you to contact that number you account is in jeopardy of having fraud already on it but its always best to contact number on the back of ur card to ensure that you are speaking with correct company and if u were adv to call this number you would be transferred to the fraud dept as soon as u put in ur acct number no matter what the reason u are calling in.

Not clear if it is legitimate, but it isn't the number on the card. - SherylJust got a call and voicemail from a blocked number saying they from US Bank's Fraud Department. The number they provided is NOT the same number as US Bank's Fraud branch. Afraid this is a scam.
- ChrisI work as a Fraud Investigator for a bank. One of my customer received a call from this number. I believe it is legit, and possibly affiliated with US Bank. But shame on them for asking callers for their complete card number. That is a typical tell-tale sign of a phishing call. Very bad practice.
- Zeke FYes, the phone call was suspicious: no caller ID, almost no detail given in the call other than my name... so I called the card issuer (Elan) using the phone number on the back of my card. It turns out there was some attempted fraudulent activity -- someone trying to change the billing address on my card to another state. According to the customer service person I talked to, the person doing the fraud had a surprising amount of my personal information: my address, my middle name, the last four digits of my SSN, etc.
So Elan has put a block on this account and is sending me another card. In other words, the suspicious call was actually what it said it was: a warning of fraudulent activity. They could have handled it better on the front end (that call), but they handled it very well on the back end (the real customer service).
And btw, when I pay my bill for this credit card, I do make out the check to "Cardmember Services", so that part, at least, is legit. Or could be. - Fraud Risk AnalystThe number is valid. When you call you will be asked for your card number so we can access your account. From there we will verify we are talking to the correct person (and not a fraudster) by verifying standard information on your account. As others have said if you are concerned the number is fake then we recommend you call the number on the back of your card. If unsure which card we should have left the name of the bank we are calling on behalf of.

- MaryJones replies to FraudI got two letters from Cardmember Services, Fargo, ND, claiming that two different credit card applications were made to Elan Financial Services and U.S. Bank National Assn claiming to have used my personal info. They wanted me to call immediately to verify that I did not apply for it. Both letters had the same 1-866 # Fax #s and P.O. box #s for snail mail responses. Both letters (although addressed to me with correct address) claim "the address on the application was 105 Clubhouse Dr. Kennesaw, GA 30144."
I checked reverse directories and found at least 31 names associated with this address! About half of them were foreign names--definitely non-European, but didn't look Muslim, either. Located this close to Georgia Tech, and located in an upscale n'hood, I first assumed "frat house", but when I continued to search I found that most of these people were at least 50 yrs old (one was 85). Two were young 20s, but very few in the 25-40 range. I truly feel sorry for whomever actually owns this house, as someone may be using their mailbox - FredericksReceived a phone message from a woman whose name I couldn't make out. Called the number on back of credit card. It was legit.

- JulietThis number is legit. I called the number on the back of my card and someone had been trying to steal my points.

CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - mosesI got a message that left this callback number for US Bank credit card Fraud Protection, and verified this is a valid US Bank number by talking to someone at a different fraud number found on US Bank's website. Seems my cc number ended up on the internet somewhere and they're mailing me a new card as we speak!

- MikeIt is legit - I called the number on the back of card and went thru the fraud protocol. Asked if the number was legit and she said yes, it is. Still, takes longer but no harm in calling the number on the back of the card and going thru the prompts for peace of mind.
- SophiaIt's legit. I spoke with them about a large transfer that got flagged at this number. I followed up at the main 800 number for Elan credit, which was the primary credit holder for the credit union I have my CC through, and it all followed through.

- Mike L| 2 repliesMy wife called me at the office and said I received a call at my home number about my card. I called back from my cell phone and was asked to give my credit card number, after being on hold for about five minutes. Whenever I called a number regarding suspected fraud before, they picked up right away. When I told them I didn't have my card with me, I was asked to give my social security number and told "we'll have to look it up that way". I declined to give my social security number and hung up. Seems suspicious to me that credit card number and social security number are the first two things they would ask for.

- Mike L replies to Mike L| 1 replyI got the number on the back of my card from my wife and it turned out to be legit. However they should not ask you for your card number and if you don't have it your SSN right off the bat.
