- Yasmine| 6 repliesThese calls are fraud. Do not let them intimidate you into giving them any additional information. They will say they are coming to your work, your house, etc. but know that it's illegal to do that and it's just a scare tactic. Let the calls come, don't bite and they will eventually leave you alone. I hope this helps someone who is losing sleep over these creeps. Have nothing better to do but harass people into paying them money for no reason. They do not actually own any of your debts. It's just all a scam and scare tactic from public information they have found on you.
- Caller: Legal One and Associates
- JoJust got a call for my daughter, who hasn't lived here in 15 years. The read out on phone was "private number", but she gave me a call back number of 844-286-1150.
- Caller: Legal One & Associates
- JenKend replies to Yasmine| 5 repliesIs it true that Legal One and Associates is a fraud? I received two phone calls from them over the past several days saying they were going to come to my work and home.
- CWG40 replies to JenKend| 3 repliesYes they are. Anyone who calls demanding money and refuses to ID themselves is clearly engaged in some sort of debt collection scam.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them. - CWG40 replies to JenKendYes they are. It was interesting because they asked me if I had received anything in writing about these charges/debt and I told them I had received nothing. The lady on the phone still proceeded to demand I make a payment or someone would be coming to my work/home between 12-5 tomorrow. Scared the crap out of me.
- CWG40 replies to JenKend| 1 replyAnother indication of an outright debt collection scam is someone telling you that someone is "coming out to your place of business or home". No legitimate lender notifies you in advance they are going to serve you. Total scam. Report them if they continue to bother you. Yell at them talk over them yell at them that this is a total scam and that you've done your research. That should shut them up.
- JenKend replies to CWG40That is good to know! That's the part that scared me....I've never had anything like this happen :(
I will definitely be reporting! - Angela JohnsonI received a call from Legal one Associates regarding small claims against me with a blocked number
- Caller: legal one Associates
- Harassment?| 1 replyKeep getting phone calls from a private number. Then a woman named Ashley Parker leaves a voice mail saying that today is my scheduled service and they are coming to my home and place of employment to serve me. She says I need to have my valid ID ready. Has anyone ever had anyone show up? This is ridiculous!
- Caller: Legal One and Associates
- Faye replies to Bring it!| 3 repliesI am continuously getting phone calls from Kelly at Legal One 470-774-9222 leaving a call back number of 855-6279907. I also have a recording. She dishes out all kinds of threat for a summons for fraud and she will be on my door step today. She is sending the police and all kinds of threats. She is calling my son and leaving personal information on his phone. If she happens to call my other son she has reached the police. I wouldn't want her to start her threats with him, because HE IS A POLICE DETECTIVE. That would be a call she would regret. I informed her today that she couldn't take me to small claims court on a fraud charge. I told her it would have to be a Legal Warrant from my county magistrate, but first she would have to take this before a Legal Judge in my city and obtain a judgment. I also told her the she could get all the judgments on me she wanted to, but she could never collect. A person on Social Security is exempt from garnishments unless you owe the Federal Government money such as IRS. You have to owe the government and no other creditor can touch your money or put you in jail. I guess working in lawyers offices and retiring from law enforcement has not left me totally stupid and I certainly don't have alzheimers.!!!!!!
- CWG40 replies to FayeNobody is sending the police anywhere. Nobody is going to court. These debt scammers are basically trying to scare some money out of you. Block their calls and ignore them. Being in civil debt is not a crime and you can’t be arrested for it.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

(678) 641-4867 - nancymac replies to Fayeyep she called me too and my son, I called her back after she called my son and got a voicemail and left a few choice words. What I don't understand is how they get away with it and what kind of person/persons will do this for a living to people, they are horrible. I emailed the State's Attorney but I never got a reply so guess my next step is to call them.
I did get advise from a lawyer and he said to say you have given the information to my attorney, that one stopped calling.
I get several bit Legal One takes the cake. - Charlotte| 1 replyMy son got three messages for me and they were scarey so I called them back and all I got was this is the claims dept. The number was 844-246-6542 and it was also Legal One & Ass. They threatened me with everything that I have read on here with. I did give them a debit number and after I did it I checked the phone number on google and there was no name or address. So I called the number back about 30 minutes later and all I got was a number of someone's answering service and when it said to talk to the operator press 0 I did and all that did was take me back to the same answering service . So I called my back and closed my account before the scheduled payment was made, well they didn't like that at all I received another call this time on my phone and this guy's name was Kelly and he was with Legal One & Assc. So I guess I will see if they serve me with papers. It came up on my phone as a restricted call.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - Donald dimmittYes I got a call also. Pending case against me. Being served papers and notifying my employer. Hahahaha I work for myself. What a joke. I have a friend who works for the IRS who can trace this phone call along with the phone number that they give you on their message I'm going to have him trace the call and the number to the location from which it comes from I am going to have the federal government get involved with this oh and by the way I am on the Do Not Call list that is a federal list not to call anybody on that list dumbasses.
