Yes, they are a pretty evil bunch. Whatever you do, don't give them remote access to your computer. Some of these operations are playing a much longer game than "take the money and run." All it takes is a simple key logger to swipe all of your banking details and passwords.

Right now that is your best defense. If you see this fake virus alert again, someone PLEASE make a screen shot or post the domain. Some of the malicious URLs are purposefully complex, but usually the domain will suffice.

None of these fixes are working. Running windows 8 and every time I access task manager it goes straught back to the blue screen. It seems to be attached to " Professional Cleaning Software" that popped up. I called and it's a scam. They pretend to be MS...then want to charge $500 or $2000. Any suggestions to free my pc up?

Can't even get alt control delete to bring up the task manager.  I feel like there's nothing I can do but throw out the computer since it wasn't an expensive computer and isn't worth spending $200 to fix it.
