- CWG40 replies to MEMost likely a scam debt collectors. No process server lets you know in advance they are gong to serve you; the just do. Scam debt collectors trying to scare you into paying them something. Ignore them. Don't talk to them. DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY.
If you have received a call stating:
1. You have defrauded a financial institution
2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
5. You will receive a court summons
6. Authorities are coming to arrest you
7. Anything similar to above,
a. Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
b. Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are filing a complaint with the appropriate authorities
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency). [abstracted from another site]
They continue to bother you, tell them you are going to the police to make a complaint of extortion. - CWG40 replies to PFDebt scammer. Do not call them back.

Caller is Kyle Calvin who identified himself as a summons server in the local area. His last message stated he had been by my home. Has stated he will serve me at home or at work. I've been asked to call 866-852-8603 & was told he's calling for a company called Mediation Services. He would like to settle the matter (didn't say what it is) without going to court. I'm going to report this to the FBI.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - SVP| 1 replyI having been receiving calls all day today from a company named Mediation Management. They say that i owed money to Ace Check Cashing and that I was going to get a misdeamenor charge if I didn't pay the money I owed back, so I set up a payment plan with them. So is this really a fraudulant company and what would be the best thing for me to do?
- Caller: Mediation Management
- WolfmanJack replies to SVPThe first thing is to cancel the method of payment. Then read up on your rights here:
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
What they have done is criminal and against the law. You cannot be charged with a crime for civil debt, you cannot be charged with a fraud or a bad check charge because the post dated check you gave them became a promissory note and not a negotiable instrument the moment it was post dated. There are so many violations of the FDCPA here it isn't even funny.
