Actally an update....

I noticed the above comment about comcast and today is also my billing date... My acct is up to date but maybe their system generates a call when a bill is sent out. Just a thought.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!

I called this number because someone said that this meant you service was going to be shut off that day (it costs $100 to turn it back on), so I called the number and there was a recorded message that said it was Comcast.  The guy then said it was a courtesy call and asked for my phone number and said some other strange things, which I later confirmed were WRONG when I called 1-800-COMCAST.  I almost gave that guy my credit card number!!!

This isn't a scam. I don't know what the previous poster is talking about, but this is definitely Comcast.  They call me like clockwork every month on the 27th from this number, because I pay my bill a month late every month.

Might be Comcast what is funny is, I just got done talking to Comcast to about 1 hours ago. got my bill lowered and made a payment. about 30 min later I get this number on my Caller ID no message left. might be a case of the left hand dose not know what the right hand is doing in the company?

They sounded legit thought, knew how much my bill was and when it was due.

I just had the same message. First of all, Comcast will never call you to recoup their money.  They send out a statement and thats it, you don't pay your service is interrupter.
I played with them to make sure, gave them my real first name, my moms maiden name and my adresse from 15 years ago.  They "confirmed" it and proceeded to ask for money.  BE CAREFUL!

This is comcast. if you have them for phone service they have to give a courtsy call before disconnect. they will call a few times before they disconnect it.about a week to a week nad a half before they do it to let you and give you a chance to take care of it.

I am not sure why Comcast wouldn't leave a message if they wanted to resolve something.  I haven't received my bill this month, and maybe it is them; however, it's probably a good idea to call their main number when you call them back, just in case.  
To Comcast (if it is you)- I never answer 800 numbers on my cell phone, because I am not going to waste my minutes on solicitation calls.  I don't appreciate someone calling me and not having the courtesy to leave a message.  Not what I call professional.

I agree with the above geekGirl.  I called the number back, refusing to give personal information.  They would not say what it is about.  Got crappy with me on the phone and in a threatening voice, said "you'll find out soon enough."

Called Comcast (1-800-COMCAST) after getting a call from 1-866-868-9244.  They told me they never call from 1-866, they use 1-800 or 1-888.  Comcast told me to report the number and not to give them any information.

Left a message, claims to be Comcast, but I have my
doubts. Called them back, was put on hold. I hung up.

This number shows up on my phone without the last 4, so it looks incomplete. They called me at 8:30 on a Saturday morning (This was the 2nd time they called but the first time I answered). They said it was Comcast and they knew all my account details, that I was one month late on a payment and how much I owed. They said they could take my payment over the phone right now, and I seriously almost did it, but then I realized it was stupid to give my credit card number over the phone to someone who called me, so I told them I would pay online.

If this is a scam, it's very well done. I seriously believed it was Comcast.

called me, left no msg. must have been tre importante.

They called me a ton over the course of the last week (I was away on vacation) and left 7 messages. All going: "Hello this is an important message from Comcast. Please call us back at 1-866-868-9244". I'm not going to call them back. It sounds kinda suspicious. Though now I do wonder if they're legit because I moved out of my apartment a couple months ago and canceled my Comcast service. What if they just need to call and say I missed a bill before I canceled or something like that?

I got this phone call two days ago and they left a message saying to call this number back as there was as there was an important message.  I did not trust it, and actually looked the number up first.  Seeing that many said it was comcast, I opted to call comcast through their own 800 number.  Asked the guy if that was a comcast number, and he verified it was.  He mentioned that I was a month late on my bill and that is why the call.  Paid the bill  yesterday, so hoping the phone calls stop.  May take a few days to catch up i the system though.

This number has been calling me repeatedly for about 3 months now, ever since I got this number assigned to me.  It is driving me crazy.  They ask for Dana Williams.  It must be her old phone number. I have tried answering and telling them not to call me anymore but nothing works.  so annoying!!!
