    duh...
Read all the posts again. This is not Comcast but could very likely be someone who has access to their account info. I too just talked to them a couple of hours ago and I was told that I had over two weeks before service would be disconnected, well within my time frame to be able to make a payment. BE CAREFUL. Do not give these people money. Always call the number you know to be associated with any account back directly. 9 x's out of 10 the company will tell you they have no record of their company trying to contact you. All reputable companys keep a log where they record pretty much every call they make to you. I've had this happen with banks and cc's. You can't be to careful.

I've been receiving calls from this number for several days now.  As a rule, I never answer calls I don't recognize.  Their machine leaves my machine a cut off message telling me to call this number back, so I've been curious.  Considering everyone is saying that it's a Comcast scam, I find it curious as to why they're bothering me because I'm not a Comcast customer.

    In closing:  Fail scam.

Not a scam.  It really makes me laugh when people jump straight to "scam" on this kind of thing when there are dozens of better reasons, starting with maybe you just need to pay your cable bill.

Comcast does call from this number.  We got the call as we often do when we're close to disconnection (TV service only), googled the number (bringing me here), and checked our Comcast bill online.  Sure enough, we've got some charges that were due a couple of weeks ago.  Paid those to current, so while there may be another call (they likely only update their lists once a day, and it's a holiday weekend so it might not happen 'til Tuesday), we shouldn't get shut off.

Probably scammers. I keep getting (stupid, continual) messages to my cell this week from the 866-868-9244 urging me to call regarding "an important message from Comcast." Our bill is always automatically paid, and Comcast does not have my cell # associated with our account. So, I just reported this to the 1-800-Com-cast call center, and they are investigating it (i.e. the 866-868-9244 could be a fraudulent caller) - in other words, the COMCAST call center has no record of the number or why they would be calling me. Whoever it is calling and leaving stupid "urgent" messages should not be trusted. If it continues, I will report this to the FCC etc, and so should you if you get harassed by this number.

I got a call from this number and let it go to my voice mail.  The EXACT message they left me was "Give us a call back at (866) 868 9244."  The fact that they didn't mention at all who was calling makes me really suspicious.  It really doesn't help much either that when I looked up the number, I got this site, with half the links saying this is a scam and half saying it's legit....

It's legit folks! It's Comcasts' collection department. I have been late a couple times with my bill and they start calling when it's about 15 days late. They are only calling trying to collect, which they have the legal right to do. The calls stop almost immediately after you pay your bill. I agree their method is unprofessional, however it is also unprofessional for us as customers to not pay our bills on time.

IF it is Comcast, it is NOT the collection department as my bill is automatically paid and I've still been getting calls multiple times a week. Even when I answer, I just get a recorded message to call them back at this number. The caller ID removes the last digit. I refuse to call back because if there is a problem with my account I expect a person to call me and give me more information, not just a recorded message telling me to call another number. I've checked multiple times and my account is ALWAYS paid up to date. FISHY!!!

I have been receiving at least 5 spam calls a day lately. When I received this call today I told the woman that I would call Comcast directly. I have automatic pay and had received an e-mail from my bank earlier in the day that stated my payment had been made. The Comcast person said not to worry and apologized for someone calling me. That still didn't answer my question as to why I got the call or if it was legit!

    It's not Comcast -it's a scam
They say they are Comcast, but don't believe it. They left a message on my Google Voice number that's not listed anywhere, and certainly not associated with my Comcast account at all. I wonder how many people are foolishly giving these scammers a credit card number.

Answer the call and when the message says 'hello' rapidly hit the pound sign 4 or 5 times # # # # # after you have verified that it is a computer and then hang up.  This will kick your number out of their system and will quiet things down for a while.  If you owe Comcast money then this is why they are calling.  If they are harassing you for a bill that is not yours then try the method I shared with you, it is a nice little trick for charity telemarketers also who are allowed by law to contact you three times a month even if you are on the no call list.  Thank you Comcast for [***] out my number within hour of signing up.

After nearly two months of calls from Comcast (one every three days) I can say with some conviction that 1) This call is from Comcast's billing department, and 2) Comcast has the most incompetent customer service department on the planet.  Following are some notes.

    1. I called back several times and gave them my account number and was told (at different times):
    a.  There was no problem with my account.
    b.  This was a standard call once my 6 month discount period was over.
    c.  This was their way of contacting me to see if they could offer me additional services

    2.  When I complained and asked about how to file a formal complain I was told by a "supervisor" that Comcast did not have an email or regular mail address I could write to.   I could only fill out an online form (with the area the size of a twitter feed).

    3.  I checked on filing a small claims court suite for harassment, but it seems that if I am a real customer there is no way to stop them from calling.

    4.  I finally resolved the issue by calling back and refusing to give them my account number, but by asking what account was associated with my number.   They found three -- with different addresses.   They would not tell me anything about the accounts, but would say that one of them was not associated with my address (which I gave them).    I told them to remove the number from that other account and the calls stopped.

    5.   I also wrote a letter to Comcast corporate offices in Philadelphia complaining and got a call back from someone who said he was from Executive Customer Relations.   He repeated the same false claims about this being a "standard" message at the end of my 6 month intro rate.     I ranted for a while, but all in all I feel like I only wasted my time.

If there were *any* other provider of high speed internet service I would choose them over Comcast.  It is very unfortunate that they are the only alternative to DSL in my area.

I will never buy any other service from them.

    It's absolutely a scam
I get these calls all the time on Google Voice numbers that aren't associated with any Comcast account. If it was Comcast, they'd call the phone number on my account, which is a Comcast phone number.

Don't believe the people who say it's Comcast. They are wrong.
