They have called my cell 3, 4 or 5 times a day & I have asked them to quit calling me.  Each time they say they are sorry, but they keep calling me back.  I ask them if it is a sales call & they say no.  But I know it is.

This is Credit Acceptance Corporation, specializing in suprime financing for cars. A lot of complaints have been filed against them on the Ripoff Report:

They call and call and call and they never seem to stop calling.  You tell them to stop calling and they just keep calling, like they have the right to continue to harass the f@%& out of you.  Something needs to be done about this.  I have contacted the FTC and reported this complaint, but shortly after I did I received yet another phone call from them.  I am working on contacting the AG's office as I type.

Yeah- so far they have called me every day this week 2 or 3 times each morning around 8:30AM. They finally started leaving messages but I can't undersand what the woman says (esp. when she says where/who she is calling from) and each message says the exact same thing word for word. All I know is she wants me to call her back btw 9AM-9PM- I haven't tried to yet. Its getting so frustrating b/c they keep waking me up and just when I get back to sleep they call again.

The caller has left me several messages in the past few days.  I was also sent a text message, to call said number.  The person called today and I picked up, but he or she hung up right away.

Keeps leaving me messages on voice mail at work. Always the same mans voice with the same message to call back between 9AM-9PM. I've never used them and never given out my business phone number to them. The calls started about 2 months ago and usually get a couple voice mails weekly.

Credit Acceptance is indeed the company in question. When you answer and they "hang up", it's because an automated calling system has contacted you, and your answering the call has let the system know you are currently at home, and announces that fact to the "agent" responsible for contacting you, who will call you back shortly after the first call.
As for contacting you at work, you only need to call them and tell them never to contact your work number again, or you will call upon the services of a lawyer.  I did this, and they stopped immediately, though I had to tell them twice to stop calling my wife's work number.

This is the second number with the same area code and prefix that has been calling me. They must have given up using the first number. The message for Credit Acceptance is the same for both numbers as well as another that comes up as Unavailable.  If I read it correctly, it is a scam operation using the name Credit Acceptance to get you to call back.

Re: Harrassing Calls from Credit Acceptance Corp
Thanks Pam for the id of this company that began calling me last week at approx. 8:30 AM & 8:50 PM. almost every day; I've told them the person that they asked for does not live at my number but they have been persistant by continuing to call. I have turned on my answering service & they have began to hang up and left one inaudible message. I'm even more concern because my number is new (April) & not publised ????

This number called us about ten times within a three day period.  They would ask for our son and I'd tell them they reached his parent's number, that he does not take phone calls at this number- finally told them we are on the "Do Not Call" list and I would report them.  No calls for about 4 days and all of a sudden we are back on their list, so once again I told them I was reporting them for fraud.  Looks as if there's a long line ahead of me with a similar problem
