Those posts are older, but they are still running this scam with this same phone #. I just got a call from someone saying they were with DHL and I had past due invoices totaling almost $700. I actually got an email that was flagged as spam, but it also said it included the past due invoices.

I have been getting calls from this same scammer for the past couple weeks. Asking for cc number to settle outstanding DHL bill. Said her name was Inglish but would not give the last name. DHL is on this problem through their fraud department.

We know this site is working when scammers like you come here to tell us IT'S NOT A SCAM. LOL.

Do you know where your CAPS LOCK key is? Why not spend a couple of hours trying to find it instead of stealing money.

I got a call a while back like this, funny thing is, we don't use DHL.  In fact, our company only used USPS and FedEx while we were actually in business - closed four months now.  There is and never was a DHL account.  They asked for an outstanding balance of nearly $700.   Good luck who ever you are!

This is a legit #. If you had something sent to you from an international location delivered by DHL and did not pay the duties they are trying to collect.

This is fraud. It didn't make sense. If they don't pay for tax and duty, they can NOT get the package out from custom house, and this TAX and Duty is nothing to do with US nor DHL but the custom house on their country. Are you one of them (fraud)? I got this call over and over.

I knew this sounded like a scam when I went to my DHL office and got confirmation that I had no outstanding bills of any kind. Had me worried for a bit though. They claimed I had an outstanding invoice and were having trouble with my address.  Nice puppet posters here as well.

His answer: ok, we'll wait another week to see if it clears. ???? Now I got an email from support@dhlar.com. DHL AR (accounts receivable?) Strange!!!!!

I had a part shipped for my IPhone, and it happened to come from china (go figure).  Apparently the shipper said they would take care of the Duty and Taxes.  Apparently, according to DHL customer service, the responsibility is on the receiver of the goods and the shipper can pay for it.  I tried contacting the shipper, but could not get anyone who spoke English.  This number is the actual Account Receivables for duty and taxes for DHL customers who don't have a regular account with DHL. So I paid it, and will never use this shipper again.

I had something shipped internationally as well and it is a fee that you have to pay. However, I though i paid the fee already because it was much more than the $31 bill issued recently. They sent me an additional bill for the remaining coverage and when i forgot to pay it, I received calls from the same number so I am just about to send payment in the return address envelope to satifiy the $31.00 debt.

Not sure but if you hear anything different, let us all know but so far it appears to be a legit number.

This is a legitimate DHL Customs phone number. Ask them for the invoice number, the amount, and the airway bill number. Have them email you the invoice. Then go to DHL's website, call their real number, ask for their customs payment department, and verify information. I was able to verify the info that the rep on this phone number provided via www.dhlmypayment.us (for US shipments) (http://mypayment.dhl.ca/DHLMyPayment - Canada shipments), which asks for airway bill number plus email address and gives you the total and the invoice number. The information I saw on their bill payment site matched what the rep gave me. Thus, it is a real, legit number. I have no reason to lie and I took time out of my day to confirm this information for you silly kids. Cheers!

Furthermore, I just called 1-800-722-0081 which is DHL's billing phone number and had them look up the invoice number that I was provided from the guy on the 866 number. It all matched. Paid and no more phone calls from DHL. To note: DHL prepays customs duties and taxes under $75, which is when you will receive a call from this phone number. If duties and taxes are over $75, they will reach out to you via the supporting documentation they have on file. Hope it helps!

I have been getting calls every day from this number asking for someone who I don't know and has never lived here in the 42 years I've had this number.   Thinking it was a scam, I never answered or called back, but there were several responses on this site that verified it was a legit number for DHL Accounts Receivable.

Today's call mentioned that something was shipped to Beverly Hills.  I called the number and actually got the same person who had left a name and order ref. number.  I told him he had the wrong area code. This is definitely not 91210.  He was very polite and appreciative of the call back.

If only all the other calls were legit! Some call every day, 3 or 4 times.  I don't think my call blocking is working. We rarely answer the phone.

Received a call from unknown number and they left a message stating they were from DHL and I was to call them by 5pm tomorrow about invoice D05349191 at 866-896-4505 or I would be sent to collections.  I am the owner of my company and have never used DHL for anything, obvious scam.

Spoke to DHL, the number on the original Customs Duty Invoice 1-800-722-0081, just to confirm that they received my payment, which they did. I asked about this phone call that I received from Joann 1-866-896-4505, the DHL operator said that the call was from their third party collection agency. The collection agency probably didn't receive an update status regarding my invoice.

As we never order anything, and buy ONLY from reputable brick and mortar stores in the USA, this really angered me. Why would I buy something from a place called "American Crafts" that is from a foreign country? I never craft, and I'm sure my husband doesn't either. SCAM. You idiots who PAY are only encouraging these thieves.

YOU were PAID by the SCAMMERS to "take time" out of your day. Why would ANYONE be so STUPID as to pay first and ask questions later? PLEASE, PEOPLE!!! You are being had: STOP PAYING THEM!!!

What angers me most is HOW did THEY know I had just ordered something, and it had not yet arrived? Somebody hacked something to discover this...I am changing all my passwords right now, just to be safe. Again.

My first course of action was to call Amazon, where I ordered the items. They confirmed the items were ALL shipped by Amazon, NOT DHL, and that this is a common SCAM. The order number/invoice number did not match either. The truth is, I have not ordered ANYTHING that is being delivered via DHL, and nothing came through customs where they paid charges. Why would they? Think about it!!! How long would a company stay in business if they paid for things before buyers authorized payments?

Go to the DHL WEBSITE and click FRAUD at the bottom of the page in red and yellow. They will not pay for your stupidity if you pay these crooks. Here is the official notice from DHL:

Fraudulent Use of the DHL Brand
Attempts have been made to defraud Internet shoppers by the unauthorized use of the DHL name and brand via phone or email communications and graphics which appear, on the surface, to have originated from DHL.

In most cases the communications concern the sale of consumer goods over the Internet where payment may be requested before the goods are delivered.

Please be advised that DHL does not request payment in this manner. DHL only collects money due for official DHL related shipping expenses.

This security notice does not affect the obligation of a consignee to pay shipping, customs, VAT or similar charges, where these are properly payable at the time of delivery.

DHL accepts no responsibility for any costs, charges or payments made which were improperly incurred as a result of fraudulent activity.
