American Express

this same number called me on my cell phone today and has been calling my home phone for months. When you call the number you can never speak with anyone, it has you leave a message. I finally called the 800 number for American Express and they have no record of me or of that 866-896-5338 number belonging to Am Ex. Scammers must be at work

Is this really American Express calling?

I recieve calls from 866-896-5388  two to six times a day for weeks now they say that they are from AMEX and to call them back using my cell number as a refferance  I don't have a Amex card and havn't had one so called to find out what it was about .They had never called me
Is there a way to stop these annoying calls ? I am already on the donot call listand have also reported it to FCC

Calls multiple times a day with recording asking for William Polly (my EX-husband for nearly 10 years) saying that they are American Express and telling him to call back at the same number referencing my home phone number.  I don't know if he has/had an AmEx, but it is doubtful.  From what I have read about this number online, they are a telemarketer, not American Express. I am on the DNC list.

I just call a call from this recording. When you call back they ask for somebody I do not know and they represent they are american express in an Indian accent.

THEY KEEP CALLING AND I KEEP FILING COMPLAINTS WITH THE FTC.  HAVE ALSO FILED COMPLAINT WITH THE ATT GEN OF TX - THEIR CORP OFF HQ.  BUT THEY'RE STILL CALLING FROM THIS NUMBER AND THIS ONE AS WELL - 800-964-7365.  DON'T KNOW IF THEY'RE LEGIT - DOESN'T MATTER HAVE ASKED THEM TO NOT CALL, THEY REFUSE TO ABIDE - NOW THEY'RE BREAKING THE LAW...

Calls the business line daily, or several times a day.  I am the receptionist, therefore I have to answer the phone.  No one is there.  I believe at first there used to be a recorded message saying something about an American express card.  But this is a business phone line and

I receive multiple calls daily from 866-896-5338. The caller ID shows "Number blocked" or "Unknown". A reverse 800 phone lookup shows nothing. I did answer once or twice and there was no-one on the other end. I yelled "Whover you are, do not call me again!" I disconnected my answering machine and do not answer the phone from this number. The phone rings incessantly for way over 6 or 7 rings. I ultimately received a letter supposedly from American Express stating I owe several thousand dollars. I have not had an American Express card for over 15 years. When I did, I had to pay the balance in full every month. There was no outstanding balance. I had a government-issued American Express card over 10 years ago. I retired on disability in 1999 and any outstanding debts were taken from my disability pay at that time. There is nothing on my credit report. I get letters of invitation for a "pre-approved" American Express card all the time, both at home and at my business (owned by me). Why would AmEx want to give me a new card if I owe them $3000? I wasn't sure this letter and the phone calls were related until I read this article. Now I will write a letter to them asking to validate the debt per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If it does not stop, I will report it to the State Attorney General's Office.

ITS BEST TO PAY YOURS BILLS, PERHAPS YOU FORGOT TO PAY.

The audacity of American Express.  I had a 600,000 points with them and the first time I used the points to get free concert tickets, they cancelled my card for a lame excuse and took all of my points away.  I didn't pay them the final bill I owed of $6k because of it and the collection agent they sent after me sided up with me.  The collection agency gave the case up and told Amex THEY were wrong.  Other than dent my credit score they haven't been able to do anything because they know that a court case would show them to be the horrid people they are.
Now Amex is calling me telling me if I want a card again they will give me one if I pay the bill but not reestablish the points.  Why I or anyone would ever trust this company again, they are despicable filthy liars that should be in prison.
I can't wait for the democrats to pass tighter laws against these crooks.

Have been receiving the calls every now and then for the guy that must have had my number before me (I have had this number for 7+ years) and then dropped off the face of the planet.  I have received calls from what appear to be his friends and business acquaintances as well, so I guess "AMEX" finally wanted some money from him.  I tried calling the number back and tried to repeatedly hit 0 and then # to freak out the system with no avail (they must have a really good infinite loop in the computer code).

I finally got to talk to a person by pressing 1 for current or former customers and then # repeatedly until I got a person.  They stated that my number was listed as a "good number" for reaching the person I did not know which I then assured him that since I didn't know the person it was obviously not a good number to reach the person they were looking for.  They assured me that my number would be removed from their lists.  If they call me again, I will do something more forceful.

Broken english woman asking for an AMx ACCOUNT HOLDER FROM OVER TWELVE YEARS AGO.  They do not worry about harassment or DNC since they are based in India.

They called my business line. Because I saw that the caller ID was a toll free number, I just answered, "Hello". They promptly hung up. I then called back their number and was told it's American Express. He kept asking for my phone number which he knew because it was on his caller ID. When I asked why they called and hung up, he had no answer, just kept asking me questions. So, I told him that American Express would not hang up on me. I asked, "Where are you?" HE HUNG UP!
