I keep getting that call too, that they want to file a formal complaint against me.  Scarring everyone in my house.

I don't answer calls I don't know. Good thing. Why do people do this stuff?  Wait.....is this a scam too?  Ya just don't know.

Had two phone calls in past two days, attempted to return call and they asked my bday/social and other info.  when I refused, person threatened me with court action. info they had was from previous address I lived at over 7 years ago although they state I opened accts there in 2012.  all info was inaccurate and they were fishing for additional info on me.  also called a prev roommate of mine and threatened him to give info about my whereabouts although I had already contacted the company back, again twice, and both times was hung up on

This number keeps calling me and my family and they leave threatening messages and keep harassing both myself and my family members

I got a call from the 866-204-0484 twice saying the exact same thing 2 days in a row.  Then 3 days went by and i just now got a call from 866-896-7987 with the same recorded voice threatening message....This is ridiculous!!!

Fake debt collectors, telling my husbsnd I owed money from 2001, and if not paid Id be arrested, luckily I know what debt I owe and it isnt on my credit report. They have now started  calling parents and siblings telling them a formal complaint was filed against me after I blocked their #, they are truly relentless 866-896-7987

  I received a call from 866-896-7987 which was a prerecorded message, prompting me to press any button to be connected to an agent. I was connected to a female agent who quickly (too quickly) identified herself and the company she represents. I asked her to repeat what she said as I didn't understand her. She said it slowly, and stated she was calling to speak with Smitty (me). I told he I was Smitty, and asked her what this call was about. She insisted that I verify some information about myself before she would tell me what the call was regarding. I explained to her that she called me, and I told her that I was the person she was looking for, and as such, it was she who needed to explain to me the purpose of her call. This went back and forth until she threatened to hang up. I hung up first.
My husband and I had filed chapter 7 bankruptcy almost one year ago. A payday loan that I had defaulted on was included in our list of creditors, and the payday loan company was notified of the "stay" imposed upon them by way of our bankruptcy filing. I do not get calls from the original payday loan company, or they would be in violation of the automatic stay order. Instead, the payday loan company provides my information to third party collection companies who will be given a percentage of the money they are able to collect from me. Our bankruptcy has been discharged, and my payday loan is no longer a valid debt, yet these collection people will stop at nothing to intimidate me in to submitting to their demand for a payment I am under no obligation to pay.
  When you file bankruptcy, it is public record. A complete list of your creditors, their addresses, and amounts owed are available for the public to view (pacer.gov), and anyone can access your bankruptcy documents, and act as a free agent to collect on a debt under the pretense that they are an authorized collection agent. Your name, address, phone number, and tons of personal information is available for these vultures to use in an attempt to scam you into paying them for a debt you no longer owe, and one in which they are not authorized to collect on.
  If you're getting calls from this number, it is a last ditch attempt to collect on a dead debt, and they know it, they just hope that you're stupid enough not to.

Report them:

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.

Total scam.  See my previous entry.  There is no "complaint" against you.

Ignore and block these calls. If you were the subject of a pending civil lawsuit, you'd have received a letter from the attorney for the other party.  You'd have a paper trail.

Then, if a case was filed, you'd have received a summons delivered to you by someone licensed to serve process in your locality.  You would NOT have first heard about any civil law case from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.

You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list.  The court clerks are usually glad to help and are familiar with these kinds of scams.

Report them.  See my entry.  You might want to invest in a call blocker as well.

They are saying I owe money from  2011 a pay  day loan

called saying that had a formal complaint against my daughter and to call back with any information on whereabouts.  Add to my scammer list with no ringtone. sounded phfishy to me!

These scammers need to be in jail. Legal complaint against me bull! Wonder if I should give them my work number as the police department to get ahold of me.  Or maybe the prison

I received same message, really sad that people can justify this to themselves

I am tired of getting threatening phone calls

3-15-2017 I got a call from: 866-896-7987 on my cell phone and they left a voice mail. Same message as everyone else. Please stop!

They call our house speaking fast, threatening me,
saying that I am going to be prosecuted for a mysterious complaint that is being filed against me. They have called my wife's autistic brother on his phone screaming at him and scaring him to death, if he doesn't tell them where I am! They also started calling my mother in law and my father in law, leaving threatening messages at their homes! My wife and I don't owe anyone... and this is becoming emotional abuse at this point!! Everyone in our family is distressed over this and don't know how to make them stop! We can't afford a lawyer and when we block the #, they just call from a different one. Help!

For the time being you'll have to rely on call blocker.  Simply ignore and block the calls.   Don't let them bother you.  This is a debt collection scam and all they do is make threats.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
