My husband got a call from 866-913-4426 (number on caller ID). I answered the phone and when I told her he wasn't home and if I could take a message she gave me another phone number 866-543-5788. I asked what it was concerning and she chuckled and said I'm sorry it's a personal business matter and all I can tell you is the name of the company is Credit Management. We pay all of our bills on time so I don't know where this is coming from.

I would appreciate it very much if my number could be removed from all types of calls. Sales or investing or customer service calls.

I am getting calls from both of those numbers several times a day. If i don't answer one then the other number calls. They do not leave messages. Calling even on Sundays. I agree with you it is very annoying. Blocking doesn't work because they just use another number to call so i just let my voicemail get the calls but like i said they have never left a message.

Do what I do: stall them with some made-up life story. If they try to talk you out of the story (Ex: "I'm short on time") keep saying "No no no!" and insist that it gets better. DON'T do that if they actually seem like a real company, but seeing the complaints, they're not a company of any importance.

I answer this call and there is no one on the other end.  It gets old after a while please stop calling unless you are a real person and not an automated recording that takes forever to respond to an answered call

in google voice you can summarily block phone numbers or mark them as spam from voice.google.com

i'll get these people calling and if they dont leave a message i'll come here and check and see if they're telemarketers.

the great thing of blocking phone numbers on google voice? it essentially "disconnects" your phone for that number

I have health problems which include sleep problems, some nights I never close my eyes, then receive a daily call(s) from this number on my cell phone which costs minutes if I answer (and I share my sister's account due to my financial situation.  As many of you have stated they call any day.  I've registered all my numbers with the do not call system, but obviously it does not help.  There should be some way we could stop this.

I've never had to deal with a collection company, so why do they call me.  And I also get regular calls (from different numbers) saying it's my last chance to lower the interest rate on my credit cards.  At times I think I'd just like to get rid of all my phones....LOL

    Turned the tables on them!
I hope the only remaining costs I will have in the Directv matter is to pay someone to haul away my dish and to send the box back, return receipt.

I have been bothered by collectors for a year and half.  I was not in a mental state to fight this when Directv first  attempted to cheat me, and due to large move and the decline in my mother's health to the "pre-assisted living" level, which is quite a level of disability, I had no fight left in me regarding the surprise $120 bill on a "deal" supposed to cost $40/mo. (I have since found another person with a similar experience with Directv.)

I had no idea where my papers or telephone log book were to fight this and I had no energy to fight, so I just stopped paying. This is my second round with Credit Management, which recently found my SECOND phone number. (Look up "skip tracing." They buy your credit report, so as soon as you update your info with a credit card, or get a new one, or sign up for SMS texts, they get you.)

I believe I have gotten rid of them and will repeat the process when Directv sends or re-sends this account to another collector.

The weapon is the Cease and Desist letter. I learned about that here: http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/a/stopcollectors.htm

I sent my via fax and someone was kind to post a handy dandy fax number list on these companies:
    http://www.edcombs.com/CM/Special/Special296.asp

I then used the Cease and Desist template and faxed it using a free online fax service. I received another called I did not answer, and then resent the letter via fax to (972) 862-4222, using "Compliance: Fair Debt Collections Act" at the company's "to" person.

The next call I did not answer either, BUT I CALLED BACK on their toll-free number (careful, toll-free does release the calling number via caller ID, so do an Internet phone call or their long-distance alternative with *67 if you can, or be very selective which phone you use.)  I stated I sent a cease and desist letter and should I FAX IT AGAIN. I stated I did not want calls or letters on this matter anymore. She stated to not fax again and repeated the number I called from, and I stated that it was an Internet phone call service,  but to not call me at XXX XXX XXXX. I have not received any more calls, and about 10 days later in the mail, I received a letter from Credit Management that a copy of my letter has been sent to Directv for their records.

I will keep this letter in a safe place because if they ever do call back, I will pursue the monetary damages allowed under federal law regard Fair Debt Collections.

They are Credit Management, a debt collector.

Write a Cease and Desist letter, Herb, to stop the calls and letters. (See my prior post a couple replies above).

You can fax it with a free fax program such as FaxZero.

They CANNOT garnish Social Security Disability benefits.
