We don't even have a capital one credit card and they call every F$&!ing night. Last night at 11:26PM and 10:30PM the night before. I get up at 2:00AM for work!
    866-381-0453 and 866-929-5306

I call back to tell them to stop. The recorded menu asks for my fuull 16 digit credit card number AND my full 9 digit social security number. Are you kidding me. When I get through to a person they ask for even more personal information.

How did they get my number? I don't even have a capital one credit card!

I get numerous calls a day from Capitol One.  My boyfriends parents have received calls, and also his ex-wife has received calls looking for me.  All this despite them receiving payments every month, on time.  I do not fit in the category of "low-life" trying to bilke out of her bills.  I have made every effort to pay my bills.  So much for them working with me. And they told me that they calls would not stop.  What??  Violation of FTC and FDCPA, expecially when the person they continue to call has asked for them to stop.

I fully agree with you. I do not even have a SSN or Capitol One Credit card, but they keep on bugging me over and over again. If I answer their call, the line would hang up everytime. I have just recently changed my cell phone and my line is on do not call list. I think its time this company faces harassment lawsuit by the public. They are f****** annoying! It is a real scam! Please do not provide any contacts to them or they will get you into trouble........

Yeah, I agree with you. I think we should put up a blog alerting people on the scam numbers. They are trying to see if any Americans are foolish, but we are not. We all should workhand in hand to catch these Capital One crooks. They are wasting our minutes and cell phone battery life. [***] them!

Do like I did and block their number from your phone!  I've tried telling this company over & over & over that I don't have any cap one cards nor have I ever had credit with their company, but apparently the person who had my number prior to me getting it owes them alot of money. So just today after getting no where again, have blocked them.

Credit cards carry out predatory practices with consumers who, like most of the American people, are not experts in finance. It's only fear that when we fall in their game we fight back by not paying them back. If everyone would do the same, credit card companies would stop their predatory practices and only lend money to those who can actually repay the debt.

In reply to you Gadget; how true. I have been unemployed for a long time now as well and they worked with me. They would only give me help for 3 months told me to call back if I needed further assistance. Did so 4Xs and got an indian woman EVERY FREEGAN TYM don't we employ AMERICANS anymore? Okay dumb Q, look at us we would be glad to have their job. Anyway each time I asked for further assistance they said "too bad for you" so, they can kiss it NO HELP--NO PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In a perfect world this would have never happened to anybody no matter how much of a credit guru you are:so don't get me started.

These credit cards companies are predatory lenders. I had one credit card with a 8.9% LIFETIME rate and $25,000 limit. So what did they do when things in the economy got rough? They raised the rate to 18.9% and cut the limit to $5,000. I have never missed a payment with any lender and my FICO is over 780. I have no problem with people screwing the banks, as they screw us everytime we look around.

    Cap One is nasty
They and American Express called a number that I had never given them, but had called the 800 # from, and entered my account number to check my balance.  Sneaky.  Unfortunately, they are not my numbers so it's a big waste of time.

I am behind on my bills, but am about to clear up everything, with the kinder cards first.  The nasty ones can wait.

Be careful of what you say at any point to the callers or persons at the credit card companies, as they will use it against you, some possibly for your own good in the long run, and some for bad in the short or near term.

Ask them what terms they are offering, and ask them to define who might qualify, for each set of terms based on LIFE EVENTS. (such as "unemployed", "divorcing", "health issues") Don't allude to what your situation might be.  LIFE EVENTS.

Good luck and prosperity to all!

The person said I was over $300 overdue on my card and if I paid right then he would make sure I would not be charged a late fee!  I refused and after hanging up I checked my online acoount and nope, I am NOT overdue on payments.  I did send a message to Capital One and complained.  We will see what happens.  He never said it was a collection agency, so I don't know if it is a scam or Capital One employees.  I do not like this one bit.
Thanks to all you others who have posted.

I just have to say that I agree with you. I am in a class called Financial Peace University which is helping with my debt and I love how the leader says "Call them more than they call you."

It is hard to be in these binds--believe me I know--but it is nice when the phone calls stop because you are in control of your circumstances.

They call several times a day, looking for someone who does not reside at my address. I have told them that the person they are calling for does not live here and have given them her phone number.  They said she used us as a reference, so why I am being annoyed. We pay our Capital One bill so I know that they are not calling for us.

received a call from this number today. I do not knew who they are, phone conversation was very short since it seems they got the wrong number. It seems from this page that it might have been Capitol One, which I and no family member has ever had a capitol one card. Hopefully i won't get any more calls from this number. but probably like most people i keep getting phone called from debt collector looking for people I don't know.

I've been trying to work with Capital one for  a while now and nothing seems to work.  I can only pay them what ever I can but it seems to not ever be enough.  What do you do when the majority of what you owe is finance charges, over limit fees from those finance charges and you try to pay what ever you have and the next month your balance is more than the prior month before you pay it.
