- John A.There was a message left on my phone from this number: 1-866-931-3773 and a woman's voice said that she was calling from the IRS to settle a past debt of taxes. She said in the message that there was a lien to be placed on my bank account assets if I did not respond to the phone number. I don't owe any taxes and I went on-line to look to see if anyone else was reporting this phone number, and I found that other people were also being troubled also by this scam.
Anyone getting this kind of message from this phone number, be aware that it is a scam!!!- Caller: IRS... (scam)
- Call type: Debt collector

- C| 1 reply1/9/2015 This group is still up to there BS about being IRS Agents. I found that they are operating some where near Independence Kansas. I too have notified the IRS and have made it my mission today to keep calling them back and harassing them. I'm also getting called foul names and that I'm going to jail etc... I feel sorry for those taken advantage by this. You would think with them giving the phone number to everyone and still operating it months upon months that the IRS would do something about this.

Reported it to the IRS.

IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. It has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And usually a lot of appeals. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail. - CWG40 replies to CNothing can be done. They are hard core Indian scammer/extortionists and as such beyond the reach of US law. Call blocker might help.

- Robertsame thing as above claiming to be a call from IRS initiating a lien against your assets. SCAM!!!
- BskiTwo vmails with an automated message saying it was the IRS, but all the pertinent info in the message was generic, like fill in the blanks that weren't filled in: ...to inform you that the IRS has decided to initiate legal proceedings against 'your name ' to lay claim to 'your assets' our IRS collector will be contacting you with 'papers'. Hesitations before each of the word in quotes. Unfortunately, it looks like it was set up for a person to answer and respond by pressing #1, so I feel bad for any people who got scared and responded to this fishing expedition.

- PJI have received numerous calls from them finally last week they left a message. I google every number I do not recognize. I just got another call from them but did not answer I recognized the number, When you call them back they answer with IRS officer whoever and that is so wrong How many old people do they scam and get away with it. I am going to file a report with the IRS every time they call they are going to get sick of hearing from me. This is so criminal and I for one don't care where the hell they live they need to be prosecuted. If we all filed reports with the IRS maybe they would do something. I am going to contact one of my senators I know him. I will not stand for this harassment.

- PJ replies to steveThat sounds like a good idea maybe I will start harassing them too! That guy is so stupid. I just feel sorry for the elderly people who may be drawn in by this sort of scam and end up giving them money. I am filing an IRS report every time they call me.
- steve replies to steveI agree if more people started to call them and tie up their phone lines then they won't have time to scam the elderly. Plus the entertainment alone is hilarious..Call and tie up their lines!!!!
- MikeI took Steve's advice..I have been calling them repeatedly and hearing them try to cuss me out in broken english is too funny!!!! If you have time call and harrass the s*** out of them. I eventually got them to admit that they were scammers. It is so funny to hear them get frustrated that i am tying up one of their lines to prevent their illegal activity.CALL CALL CALL
- ChristineScammer claiming to be the IRS, saying that I was going to be sued and my assets taken away. The number to call back is 866-931-3773. I called it because I was curious and the non-American person answered, "IRS". I just sat there and listened and then they hung up.
