IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. It has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail. - Paul replies to debbySame story. They used Tony Foster, Mike Jones, Anthony Williams. Call them back and tie up their lines and they get pissed off.
- Paul replies to steveI have done the same. Call for an hour with two phones going. "Tony Foster" accused me of harassing them.
- R-RToday a family member of mine had gotten a call from this number saying exactly what you all have said, stating his name as William George. He scared her into thinking that it was real. She was told to borrow the money and not to tell anyone. However, I got her to tell me. I had recieved many such calls before, so I knew what to do. I reported this to the police and then called her over to my house. I then called the number and told them in a loud and firm voice that I was their boss and that they could not run business by harassing the customers. The so called Mr. William hung up immediately. I called him again and told him that he wouldn't get any further in business if he hung up on his boss. He hung up again. When I called a third time, a different man answered. I asked "is this Mr. William?" He said "Mr. William is on a different line, who am I speaking to?" I told him my name and asked "who am I speaking to". He replied that he was my father. I told him to stop this disgusting business of his and to stop harassing innocent people. He said " first why don't you stop harassing me?" I told him " I will continue to harass you 24 hours a day until you stop this. " he then said " YOURE GOING TO HARASS YOUR FATHER??" I told him yes I will harass my father because I am your boss. Then he hung up. I tried many times from different phones to call him again using *67, but it went to the voicemail that some of you have previously mentioned. I called him again about half an hour ago, but it is now giving the error tone. I believe that they have changed their number, so we will have to stay calm and stay alert to identify fraud calls. BEWARE OF ANY NUMBERS WHO CLAIM TO BE IRS AGENTS. This is not the legal process that the IRS follows, so DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES release any information or money to these con artists.

- Danielle DahmAutomated message stating an iRS officer would be visiting and that our bank accounts would be seized.
- Lilly replies to RoseThat's exactly the message that was just left for us!
- MichaelReceived a call from a "Mr" Tony Foster, who was actually asking for my wife by name.
I asked him for what reason and he stated that he was a Revenue Officer with the IRS out of Washington, D.C., and that they were investigating a tax fraud filed by my wife.
1. I work for the IRS out of California, and asked for his employee # which he stated was 15190 (employee numbers are not 5 digits and are by IRS area's)
2. My wife doesn't "file" taxes. I do through a CPA
3. When I said I thought this was a scam, he became belligerent and said that "we are coming to arrest you" and I said "bring it on!"
At that point, he hung up.
So, I'm going to go and take a shower, brush my teeth, and put on a clean set of clothes and sit down in front of the TV and wait for the "IRS thugs" to come and arrest me!

- Mike| 1 replyThis automated call came to my voice-mail and I recognized the content similar to a previous scam attempt. When I called back I asked who I was speaking to and the Indian Man said "William Jordon" Last month in a different scam this guy said his name was "David Clark" Either case, not very common Indian names.
I am employed with the IRS and asked for his department and then it became quiet and he hung up on me.
Folks this is a scam and don't let it alarm you. Your name and address is public knowledge and available all over the internet. It may sound validating when they present personal info on you but anyone can gather this info.
They operate outside this country, use internet calling software, spoof their phone number, and change it often.
Educate others. That's the best thing you can do.- Caller: Fake IRS
