- Jim replies to kabThe bottomline is the best way to stop calls about old debt is to send the bottom feeding debt collector a cease and desist letter and then sue them if they violate it.
- jmartinezMy wife received a call from a person calling herself "Christal" from a supposely company by the name of Nat. West. Bank. I looked it up - there's no website on this "company." (?) She's trying to collect a debt I know nothing about. The number she gave to call back is 866-938-8060, which is a number many people are getting called from (or have to call to). This is definitely a sham operation and I would advise anyone the following: 1) Don't give out any information to these con-artists, 2) Never send any money and 3) Immediately report them to the autorities including the phone company for using their system to run their scam.

- MarkThe so-called "Source Receivable Management" calls my home phone, ans. mach. picks up, and their pre-recorded b.s. states "this is not a sales or marketing call, this is regarding business we are currently conducting, ..."gives your name, and then gives the 866-938-8060 number to call back. Funny thing is that they NEVER say they are a debt collection agency on this message; also funny that I had NEVER been called by SRM until a few days after I called NCO and got them to quit calling me about a different debt. NCO Fin. Syst. actually had a more professional sounding pre-recorded message: it DID state that it was an attempt to collect a debt, and their pre-recorded message didn't mess up for no reason; also, NCO's msg. didn't sound like it had been recorded in someone's living room with the TV on in the background!! The SRM called me from a 877 number (not sure of the rest of the #; don't have it with me at this time), but I discovered the number they called from by way of *69. I then called the 866-938-8060 from my NET10 cell phone. First of all, you hear classical music, then someone answers "can I help you?"-not giving their name or company name (seems shady), I asked "yes, what company is this?", to which some guy mumbled something & I asked him to repeat that, then I understood "Source Receivable Mgmt." he then sort-of like an afterthought said that "attempt to collect a debt/may be monitored and recorded" mumbo-jumbo. I told him that I had a msg. on my ans. mach. to call them. He asked if they gave a reference number, I said no, then he asked what number did they call, I told him, and then he gave me enough info to verify it was indeed for me, calling that pre-recorded thing a "courtesy call" and told me that they were offering a settlement. I told him I've been unemployed and can't pay anything, and then 2 days later, the same company called my home #, left the same 866 # to call back, and I did (from NET10 ph.). Talked to some woman, gave her the same info as 2 days prior, and she said they would note the account. Then I decided to use my *69 and found out what number they called from---THIS IS WHERE IT GETS DISTURBING & INTERESTING: I call that 877 # from the NET10 phone that DOESN'T SEND THE CALLER ID INFO, I get a more professional sounding "please wait for the next available representative to assist you" and when a woman picked up the line, she says "yes, can I speak to........"then she gave my name, to which I was dumbfounded, asking "how do you know who I am?", to which she replied "it came up on the thing as the number you have called us from before...I see we have talked to you already today, so how can I help you?" I said "yes, I just wanted to follow up as to why you call from a different number than the number your message says to call", and wouldn't you know it?.....the call was mysteriously ended. I guess they don't like it when you show that you're on to them!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this info helps you all!

- lone stranger replies to IrritatedSource RM appears to be a bottom feeder dealing at least to some degree in junk debt.
They are aggressive callers and use Broadvoice communications. They are unswayed by the truth in caller id act, and your caller id will normally have either a city name, or "Broadvoice", the name of their phone carrier.
If you try to call them back, you may appear not to get through, although it is more likely that they are just creating the appearance of a failed call. Your call may be logged by their computer. If you get a person, it is difficult to get any information from the collectors, but the info you need is posted below.
