- CharlieI received this call today from a Francesca at ECMC looking to make contact with a Nicole Hurley (?). I do not have any transactions with ECMC and I am definitely not Nicole Hurley. I am not calling them back as whoever submitted my phone number to these people deserve to get into a financial bind.
- Caller: ECMC

When our secretary asked if he could contact me via e-mail he said no. Today my principal took the message and he said it was a "personal matter".

- SR| 1 replyA voice mail from Mandy left this number to call back. The message was meant for (name), my ex-husband who has passed away. I didn't call back. Very annoying and rude.

- BigA replies to SRDebt collector, so it goes without saying they are annoying and rude. It appears that they collect student loans so I would suggest that you deal with this.
- BigAYou need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

ECMC is supposed to be student Loan company.- Caller: ECMC
- JanetReceived several calls from 608 area code and then family started receiving calls from 8669456370. All asked for verification of identity and birthdates. This ECAC is not a government agency authorized to make these calls. If you do owe a student loan contact Dept of Education and do not speak to these people.
