Same $2400, same bogus phone #, and now I have to have it removed because it's too narrow and the draw on my furnace is below acceptable. He was also very chummy to me, including asking me if I lived alone. I called the police and will report to BBB too. Unbelievable how some people are so amoral and can actually sleep at night!

I just had the liner removed (it's practically brand new) because it was too small and the drawer from the furnace was dangerously low because the $2400 liner he put in was too narrow. The new company also said he did a poor job. Does anyone know John's last name? Nassau Consumer Affairs is investigating. To complain to them, download a form and send it in. It would be good to have his last name. It seems, it may start with a C.

MINEOLA, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced today that John Calvert has been sentenced to 1 ½ to 3 years in prison after pleading guilty to defrauding homeowners out of more than $17,000 by telling them that they risked carbon monoxide poisoning unless they allowed him to make unnecessary, and poorly done, repairs to their chimneys.

Calvert, 46, of Plainview, pleaded guilty to Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree on March 15, 2007. He must also pay full restitution to the victims.

Rice said that between January 2004 and February 2006, Calvert, an employee at Hicksville-based Complete Chimney, Inc. improperly dealt with seven clients who had either agreed to a chimney cleaning through a sales call or had called the company directly. Calvert, after arriving at the home, would convince the homeowners that more substantial repairs were necessary or the homeowners could suffer carbon monoxide poisoning or have their chimneys fall over due to structural problems. Calvert was paid $17,177 by these seven clients for unnecessary work.

In addition to being unnecessary, the work Calvert performed often left the homeowners with more problems than they started with. In one case, a new homeowner was told that her chimney was crumbling, that carbon monoxide could be backing into the house, and that immediate repairs were necessary or the chimney could fall in a high wind. After $1,600 work of repairs, the homeowner noticed fumes emanating from the chimney every time the heat was turned on because Calvert had incorrectly installed a chimney liner that was too small. The homeowner was without heat for one month.

Patricia Curley, owner of Complete Chimneys, Inc., located in Hicksville, and her employee John Calvert, allegedly operated an unlicensed chimney cleaning business. In total, 26 consumer complaints have been made in Nassau County against Complete Chimneys, Inc. Fourteen of the complaints have common patterns of fraud, prosecutors said. In each case, Calvert would come to the homes scheduled to have their chimneys cleaned and inspect the chimneys requesting payment in cash so that a lower price could be offered. While cleaning the chimneys, Calvert would allegedly use scare tactics to frighten the homeowner into believing that their homes were in a total state of emergency and that if their chimneys were not relined with masonry work, the family would suffer from carbon monoxide and soot poisoning. He appeared to be using a prepared script when speaking to homeowners and insisted on immediate cash payment so that the work could be completed immediately. In a number of cases, an alleged dangerous condition had been created by improperly completing the unnecessary work. Calvert previously owned and operated Nassau Suffolk Chimney, located in Hicksville, a currently unlicensed company. The defendant has a pending unlicensed home improvement charge filed by this office regarding his operation of Nassau Suffolk Chimney.

My father-in-law was scammed by this parasite knows as John Calvert. After agreeing to a chimney cleaning three sub-humans showed up and conned him into unnecessary chimney work totaling $3,200.00. They left that day and never came back leaving the bricks from the chimney all over the roof and a liner which is at least one inch too small. John actually followed my father-in-law to the bank to take out his money. The bill has no phone number on it and the company name is Affordable Chimney (no phone number)  and all he knew was a name John. Thankfully an alert neighbor got the plate number of the van because as she put it "these guys looked shady". With that plate we were able to get the registration and some detective work provided the name Anthony Ingenito who claims to own Affordable Chimney (located at 2468 N. Jerusalem Rd., Bellmore, N.Y., 11710). We are currently suing in small claims court, went to Consumer Affairs and filed a Better Business complaint. The Bellmore address is really just a boiler-room sales office but the dope there was all to happy to give me Ingenito's name. Michelle was it a red Ford van with ladder racks because that is the van these guys used in Levittown.

They call him "ONE EYED JOHN"   DJohn Calvert was associated with Complete Chimney and was arrested due to scamming people.  People have to learn to check with Nassau County Consumer Affairs before hiring anyone to do Chimney work.  DO NOT LET ANYONE COME TO YOUR HOME WHO HAS A TELEMARKETER CALL YOU. MOST ARE SCAMMERS

John Calvert, John Citrangolia, one eye John currently works for Lawrence Stuwart All American Chimney and Duct cleaning located on Rome St in Farmingdale NY! Since everyone has a complaint about this scam artist maybe we should join together and protest outside their office for refunds!!!!!!!

FYI everyone "Michelle" was John Calvert's girlfriend!!!!!!!!! Don't put innocent people's information out there especially the business owners that hire him being unaware of his past!!
