Listen everyone. I am a police investigator who received a letter that my son owed warrant fines. Took me a couple minutes to establish that there is such a law firm. However a group of low life scam artists are using the law firms identity to as their own. The phone number 866... is not the attorneys number. They are using this number for you to call but it is not for the attorneys number. They will pressure you to pay a fine or be arrested. I recommend you either laugh at them or better yet, call them repeatedly and tie up their phone line all day long. You will get someone to answer cause they wont know who the caller is. I would also notify the Texas Attorney Generals Office and file a complaint. Strength in numbers.

Received a letter stating that I owe $655 for services rendered to an ambulance service that I never received in April of 2003. On the letter they have an acct# of AZ32948 and want me to reference 1270312. Thought it was fishy because I have only lived in my home approx 2 yrs.

I have been receiving incessant phone calls from this number. An auto dialer demands that I call them back regarding an “important legal” matter and reference some number.

I called back and they state that I owe them money for an unpaid ticket from SIX FREAKIN’ YEARS AGO! ... in po dunk little Dime Box, TX for speeding. Only problem is that I took care of this with Defensive Driving, and I haven’t heard a word about it since then. No warrants! No arrests! I’ve renewed my license recently ... Now six years later, all of a sudden some debt collector is trying to get more money out of me after I already handled this.

I called Dime Box up and they state that I never took care of it. Of course Judge Danita Wiederhold who is the judge that I handled all this with SIX YEARS ago is no longer the judge there so I was talking to some new person who basically just had incomplete records or something. And apparently when they don’t think they got paid they send it to Austin who sends it to these jokers in Round Rock.

Well I tell Dime Box that this was handled six years ago, I’ve got no warrants and I just pulled my driving record and it is absolutely spotless ... no tickets, no nothing. So clearly if I had not taken care of a ticket there would be an entry in my driving record or a warrant out for me, or I should have received a letter ... SOMETHING, ANYTHING within the last six years. Well Dime Box tells me “tough” ... “once we hand it over to Austin there’s nothing we can do” ... gee thanks!

When I talk to McLeary they tell me the same thing, “Once we get handed the case there’s nothing we can do until our client tells us to stop”. I told the RUDE phone monkey that I had ZERO intention of paying for this ticket again and she said that I would have to send them proof it was taken. Well that’s all fine & good, but you might have noticed that was SIX YEARS AGO! I don’t even have the credit card I used to take Defensive Driving with let alone any receipts or the certificate. I don’t even remember which website I took it on, so I have nothing to prove my position.

It’s $133 and in this economy that’s a lotta money! But just on principle alone it’ll be a cold day in Hades before I give them my money. I told them, “This is a verbal cease & desist warning”, and the phone monkey’s response was, “This isn’t a debt we don’t have to abide by those laws” ... WHAT?! ... correct me if I’m wrong but this chick just got done telling me this is a debt, but when I give them the verbal cease & desist warning she all of a sudden tells me this is not a debt.

    OK ...

So I ask her, “Since this isn’t a debt that means it’s not going on my credit report, right”? ... “Yes” ... “If I do absolutely nothing about this you can’t really do anything can you” ... “Well yes, but we’ll keep calling you” ... “OK” *CLICK*

I am now in the process of writing a written cease & desist letter with RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED, and if I hear a peep out of them I’m going to look into legal action (class action law suit anyone?). Otherwise I say let the @#$%er sit on their computers, I don’t care, I’m not paying for a dang speed trap ticket twice.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket, but this "law firm" machine man calls me all the time. Now the # comes up "Unknown Call." DPS? No. Scam. If you think you have a ticket, call the DPS and ask them. Don't send $ to this agency.

DPS does not, to my knowledge, contract with collection agencies. They issue a warrant, then have you arrested. Period.

I suspect that it is a branch of ccs (a collection agency in florida) the tactics are the same. all dps in all states handle collecting on their own--they dont outsource. and by the way ccs has been sued succsesfully for their tactics, and are facing a class action.

I work for this firm. YES we are a legitimate business. We do handle collections of outstanding traffic violations. Our clients, which are cities and counties throughout Texas, turn over accounts to us which they have been unable to collect. Some of these accounts may be many years old, but ARE still collectible. Not all tickets get turned over to the DPS database, so just because you're able to get your license and are told you don't have any warrants, that just means it's not in their database. Unpaid tickets don't just go away. There are instances where clients give us accounts that have already been satisfied. Mistakes do happen. The best thing to do is contact the Court where the citation was issued and resolve the situation.

got a call today from them.  L/M under my maiden name regarding a "business matter" - which my business name happens to be under my maiden name.  When I called, they indicated that they were contracted by Gonzalez County regarding an unpaid ticket from 1999.  I asked them to send me the information and they had the audacity to tell me the "burden of proof is on me".  I contacted the phone number to the Gonzalez County JP and cannot locate any information on a failure to appear.  Will keep you all posted with what I find out from the County.

BEWARE of this - it's impossible to prove (without 10 year old documents) that you DID, in fact pay it.  They are, I'm suspecting, trying to trick people into sending money.

I did not receive a call, but instead a letter.  The letter is the same story as many have posted here:  I supposedly have an unpaid speeding ticket from 3 years ago in Caldwell County (I live in Austin) and I owe this lawyer over $200 for it.  I won't lie, I get a lot of speeding tickets- but I'm pretty sure I never got one in Caldwell County (usually I get them around Austin).  I'm happy to see that this is probably a scam, but I will call Caldwell County just in case.

I recieved a call from this company at my in-laws house.  They are collecting on unpaid tickets, failure to appears and a couple outstanding things I had from about 7 years ago.  This is a legitimate company.  I called the court house immediately after talking to this company and they confirmed that it is a company they contract out to if you have old outstanding warrants.  Be sure to check with the courthouse, might make you feel more secure to talk to them and set up a payment.

This group of morons operate out of Arizona and have several offices in Texas. I think the law firm rents out their letterhead as their phone number balongs to "Tek Alchemy" PO Box 1016 Round Rock TX 78680 a web hosting.  NcCreary Veselk has also been charged with fraud making up a non existant county in Texas to sue an individual.  ABA does confirm that it is a licensed law firm, but their collection practices appear shoddy.  It appears they buy notes, relatively small, for pennies on the dollar and them attempt to collect the full amount, the difference being their profit.  ABA would not disclose if there is, are, or were any complaints against this company.  Since most bill collectors have the mentality of a fire hydrant, it may be beneficial to attempt to contact others like yourself and initiate a class action suit.  But dealing with the callers when you get through is like talking to a tree.  You are right, get everything in writing.  If they refuse contact the state's attorney, they when you get their refusal to get involved go the the Federal AG office and your congressman at the same time.  Believe it or not collections are so stupid that when my son died, Verizon wanted to collect for the remaining portion of his cell phone contract "or they would ruin his credit".

I've been receiving calls from them for over a month; always a machine recording. They are looking for someone named "Kirkpatrick K" (and that's not me).

I looked them up online and tried to use their e-mail form to tell them to stop calling my number, but it was, of course "broken." Yeah, right.

    Feels like a huge scam.
