    not to be scammed replies to Queenbee
    I believe a bench warrent is for non-appearance (i.e. not showing up in court for a traffic ticket). This is typical of scare tactics used by collection thugs.  If this case were to to go that far it would be in civil court, at least
    here in South Carolina.

    Actually, we are talking about whoever is reached by calling 866-959-3156.  I wouldn't trust them to give me the time of day without lying, much less tell me accurately how to spell their name.  A skunk by any other name . . .

    Give me a break, not paying. I don't give a rat's hindquarters how they're spelling their name this week, they're still a bunch of crooks.

    wow. you sound very hostile. I am interested to know if you ever got ur money. how dare you call someone a scumbag when you're trying to scam them and they catch you. you should be ashamed of yourself and the people you represent. I hope you never get a penny, not even a paper one. Someone should take you to jail.

    Same thing here.  This "process server" has starting phoning my place of employment and I have the same issue, calling from a blocked number, refusing to give any kind of detail, etc.  I told him that he obviously knew where to find me and to quit calling already.  I haven't been able to find out who this is specifically to report them.  These tactics are illegal and are considered harrassment.

    Heh heh, happy to report yet another week and no subpoena. Eff you Palmer / Palmar and Associates.(Know what? I don't have to make sure how I spell it since your crappy staff cannot be bothered to give out that information). Eff you right in the ear with a rusty nail you lying, limp [***] fuckwads. You're all talk with no balls.

    I'm not sure if they called or not this week as I don't have to answer any numbers I don't recognize. My phone is for MY convenience. So suck it, losers. Such big men who can CALL to make threats to women but don't have the working gonads to actually show up. I bet your wives (the few of you who managed to get a woman, that is) laugh their [***] off whenever you leave the bedroom.

    The "Process server" is someone within their company.  I think these bottom feeders to be the former Orca portofolio management and formerly Global Bureau of Recoverery.  Their tactics are very similar.
    Same scum, different name.

    Another week and still no subpoena.  Maybe the "process server" got lost. Or maybe he's as dickless as the rest of them.

    My husband got a similar call a month ago regarding a reported "checking account overdraw" from 6 years ago when he lived in TN. I spend over an hour on the phone with these scammers and had a feeling that they weren't legut. I called my State's Attorneys Office after the call with information from the call and they advised that anyone who would only accept pre-paid credit cards and deposits into their account at Bank of America was probably a scam (which I figured). I also started a report with the BBB on 11/7 and there has been no response from Palmar & Assocaites (Upland, CA).

    I had another call to my cell phone from them several weeks ago reporting that I was a "reference" for someone that I have never heard of. These people are crooks and after your hard earned money. DO NOT PAY THEM A DIME!!!!

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do no
    t pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    My story is like everyone elses on here, a James Howlett claiming to want to serve me and has "tried" on several occasions? I was on maternity leave for four months house bound not one person came looking for me. They have called my mother and the next door neighbor looking for me, told me they were retained by another debt agency that represented usbank when I asked for a supervisor he said he was it?? When I asked for a superior he said call RM funding? I asked for the number he said he didnt know and maybe I should call the people I have the debt with and follow the trail. SCAM! When I asked for an address he gave me this after back and forth unplayful banter, 1042 n mountain ave suite b14, upland, ca 91786. When I googled the address there was no such thing as suite b14. So most of the time they call me from an unknown number today they were being really bold and called me from 909-303-7021 which is james howlett. and a 562-803-6456 this persons name was Tom and when I asked him what the address was he said I dont know it?? When you google the company it doesnt exist either. These people harrass and they are overstepping their boundries using scare tactics and VERY rude he told me to sht my mouth and open my earhole. Said I was whining when I asked for the number and then refused to provide me with any valid information. When I called my lawyer he said to ignore these people they will eventually go away, these people must be stopped even when you call and get the asnwering machine you press "0" the operator not available and there is no company directory. I cant believe these people can get away with this level of harrassment. and scare tactics. DO NOT PAY, let them know you have reported this number to the authorities for investigation.

    Be careful I almost payed these people. But from the advice of others found out in the end it was a scam. They originally called from a 877 number which was then linked to the 909 number. No website. was unwilling to send written evidence and very sketchy.  Thank you for all your posts. This has been reported the police. I hope they don't get to anyone else. Palmer and Associates is a real company but PALMAR and ASSOCIATES is not. PALMER is a buisness funding company for first time owners.

    My wife was also contacted out of the blue by this 909 number, claiming to be a "Michel" and demanded that she either pay $200+ by the end of the day for an extension, or pay over $1300 due immediately following, or they would contact the police. Seriously? Fortunately, she knew better than to give this individual any information and let me find out what I could from him. Set up a dummy e-mail and had him ship whatever documentation he had, and ran the information on the form. Came to this website as well as verifying his address as a UPS store. All this for a story about how my wife didn't have a zero balance on her account when she closed it, and added her name to my account AT THE SAME BANK. Apparently everybody forgot their raisin bran that morning because no one from that particular bank called, e-mailed, or regular mailed anything about it to us, as well as refusing to deduct funds from the new account to pay the old one (which that bank has done in the past). Running a credit check report as well as CHEX system report for final confirmation. Good luck people.
