- christian replies to Sara| 1 replyHi, My daughter was also called for an audition and a call back then we were told to pay 385 as a deposit then 905 later. the money is to cover the photoshots and the seminare in toronto (may 2010). I realy don t know what to think about it.
- ZacharyI got called back during the summer too, i'm not sure if it's a scam or not, but the photoshoot they said was going to happen did happen, I went and it was great. I don't know if it's a scam or not, but i'm willing to give it a try.
- Samantha R.| 2 repliesI was just curious about what these threads were about and what they said about showcase and I must say that it is NOT A SCAM. Because of showcase worldwide I am currently signed with W Models in Vancouver, New York Models in New York, Nathalie in Paris, Independent in London, Why Not in Milan and Ace in Athens. This would not have happened if i continued to sign expensive contracts with local agencies that shall remain nameless lol and only offered expensive headshots. I have done very well for myself in this industry and I continue to use some of the photos that showcase took of me. They kept theyre word in everything that they said they will do for me and it paid off. I worked very hard and so did they. Very nice people. My friend also went for an audition but we didnt go in together, they didnt know we were friends, she didnt make it and neither did her boyfriend who went in after her without them knowing so. Therefore it is not a scam. They dont pick everyone. It really depends if you work hard at it or not and how much you want it. If your not willing to invest money into something that is of good quality, then continue to sign expensive contracts that make you sit on your couch for a year with not a single call for auditions, instead of meeting real agents for three days.
Good luck guys. - Samantha R replies to christianwell if your daughter is very involved in the arts she should have a good chance of getting signed. Like i said BELOW on this thread, i worked very hard at it and it paid off. Showcase did my photoshoot just like they said and i learned alot about the business at the seminars so i think its a good investment. Specially since they arrange a meeting with all those agents. you just have to really show them your daughter is the person for the job. just like any other job. I hope you guys have as much fun as i did.
Good luck. - Pierrot replies to SaraI'm from Montreal too, and I'll be going.
Is it Legit?
I've paid and everything but I want to know if anyone's actually been to the convention and been signed or whatever? - duhamelj| 1 replyactually, the money is for the weekend itself, because over 40casting agents/record companys/modeling agencys from around the world come, basically they bring Hollywood to you..it is not a scam, I know a few people who have went in the past (and i got invited this year) Marie just makes lots of money on the talent she already has(from them getting work) so she pays for new portfolio pictures(for free) the 385 or watever is a down payment for the weekend because they have little space, and they get your contact from websites you've signed up for, your agent can refer u, or even if you've auditioned, those directors/casting agents can refer. Can say its a scam until you follow through with it
Showcase Worldwide seems like a scam because it seems to good to be true, getting a chance to audition in front of disney, dreamworks sony records, cosmo, etc. but its not, if u get in, you really are talented! - Lenaya| 1 replyokay this is a totally legit thing. i was supposed to go to the 2009 one, but they're transferring my money over so i can go this year. if it was a scam, they would just stick to the original 'no refunds.' it is not a scam, and its totally worth it.
- Lenaya replies to duhamelji totally agree. i was floored when i got in. but its a totally legit audition process. it is absolutely not a scam. thank you! =)
- JillI ATTENDED SHOWCASE A FEW YEARS AGO. I WAS ABLE TO BE SIGNED A FEW DAYS AFTER SHOWCASE THINKING THAT IT WAS A SCAM TOO. BUT NOW IM SIGNED WITH FORD MODELS, IM ALSO DOING SOME FILMS IN THE U.S. GOTTA START SOMEWHERE!! THE MONEYS GOOD HAHA CANT COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT AT ALL.
- Christina replies to yoitsascamAny agency that asks for money up front is bogus!! Usually new models do test shoots with a Photograpers team (wardrobe, MU, hair). Please don't fall for this dirty trap.
- dasky replies to Whitenobody pays for an audition. this is obviously a scam.
- Arahne N.| 1 replyMy whole take on this thing is that it's ligit. My auditioner's name was Katie, nice to talk to. got her number and everything, i seriously almost didn't pass because at first i tried out for singing, but my voice kept faultering so she gave me a script and told me to read one of the commercials for 13-17 yrs and i did it perfectly. she asked allotof questions, and kept writting things down. it was pretty fun. Can't wait till SCWW in May =)

- Diaandmia| 1 replyOk so dont worry guys ! It IS NOT a scam ! I promise !
SO many people got refused !
If it was a scam, they would probably try to get everybody's money !
So when they say no , it means you don't have the potential !
They basicly tell you not to waste your time or money on this industry !
So they told me yes for acting and modeling and actually heard m sing and said to work a little bit on my voice as well because i might just make it there too!
So please if they take you in, dont pass up on the opportunity and go for it! Because you dont know when this chance could come up again !- Caller: Showcase worldwide
