IT"S a scam. Yes i admit they got me!!!!   what a waste of my money. you pay 300 down, and once u get to the second audition, you have to pay another 395. And it's an audition of like about a thousand people. And of course, EVERYBODY makes it passed the first audition... and then they tell you that u have to pay right away, and the other portion later bla bla bla. DON'T DO IT and spread the word.

I got caught up in the scam.
Someone made a blog of a walkthrough as to what you can expect: http://showcaseworldwidescam.blogspot.com/201 ... ually-huge.html

I got "complimentary photos" delivered, but I had to pay for them on arrival. I refused to pay $30 for 2 photos b/c complimentary means free. the agent, Ana Crededor, sent me a nasty facebook email (seriously, through facebook? c'mon!) and a harassing voice mail message because I refused to pay. If I can cover scam costs, THEY can cover the 'charge' for complimentary photos.

Anyways, what you are paying for is a chance to audition to their "big time agents" and maybe a photoshoot (not photos).

I am not going to the event b/c a plane ticket, hotel, and food would cost almost what I got scammed.

I took part in this convention when I was a bit younger. It's not a scam. It is legit---but it is pretty crafty, too.

It's a big cattle call of talent that SOME of the prospects get somewhere with it---most don't. I was one who didn't. But they give you what they promise--the opportunity to meet and showcase your skills in front of talent signers, etc. It's hours of waiting, and five minutes of performance time. But it's still an opportunity.

It's expensive, it's hyped up and the amount of return is...pretty minimal, unless you're one of the, maybe 50 out of 3000-odd prospects who get signed.

BUT it's not a scam. They do their job...they just phrase it well.

I'm a local agent from St. John's Newfoundland.  Two of my models went to this it was set up on the sly by someone who books for this agency.  I knew nothing about it until today.  One of my models called me and asked me about it.  It's a complete and total scam.  They have to pay $385 up front and almost $1000 after and they are both students.  She even promised one of them an audition for a Colgate commercial.  As an agent I never charge models anything up front.  I always make my money from the calls they do, and any work they get.  This is a complete and total scam.  Don't fall for it.  It's not worth it.  They are just doing this to get money out of innocent people.  EVERYONE that goes there gets a call back and then they call you back and expect you to pay the money right away.

I am currently trying to figure out how they found our numbers, but unfortunately I do not remember any websites or agencies that I have contacted in the past that could've served as a potential referrer for Showcase Worldwide.

If you feel like you can help, visit the blog and make sure to post a comment! :)

these people called us last night, someone named marcia. they called last year too.
we went last year and so did hundreds of other hopefull teens. everyone was being
asked to pay $385 to go onto a second round and then $900 to go on to meeting the
agents. i don't know of any talent agency that asks for money, that kind of money.
we didn't go for it. and we certainly are not going for it this year.

Thanks all for insights into this operation S/W. My 16y/o is heartbroken coz her mean ol dad figured this was a bit too dodgy for a poor workin stiff. There are many "success" stories posted too but the up front fees and other fees we haven't heard of yet ensure we will not be attending the second audition. She'll just have to do it the hard way. Like every other successful artist. Through hard work and dedication to her craft.

I got a call randomly one day from a lady named Francine at SW, saying that I had been selected for an audition that coming Saturday....up in Woodbridge. Woodbridge??? Why in hell do would I haul my ass to Woodbridge for an agency I've never heard of? I told her that I wouldn't be going to any auditions. She proceeded to call me 2 days later to confirm my audition time. I didn't call back nor did I go to this so called audition. The following Monday I got another call saying I was again selected for an audition the following Saturday. I asked what specifically this audition was for, she couldn't tell me anything other than there were going to be lots of industry professionals there. I told her I wouldn't be going, but thank you for the call. Again she called me to confirm the time, I told her AGAIN that I wouldn't be attending any auditions for her company and hung up. 20 MINUTES later she called again to confirm, but said a different time. What in the name of &$#@ is wrong with this chick??? If she calls me again, I won't be so polite. It's totally a scam. They harass people. Not cool.

I just got a call from the same chick, Francine. She said i was seleceted for an audition in Ottawa this coming Saturday.  I was trying to figure out how she got my number. She said I had applied for some acting jobs.  I did no such thing. Well, good to know this is a scam.

I just got a call from Francine as well. When I asked if they would be signing with my mother agency if I got accepted, she said she just takes the bookings. She also couldn't tell me what I was auditioning for, how I should dress, etc.

I already have taken a modeling and acting course and have a portfolio, and I've been to a convention before. I have no intention of wasting my time or money on anyone else when I've done all of this work through a legitimate agency.
