- James Rubin| 1 replyThere have been several unwanted phone calls to my residence. If this is some kind of credit and collection agency I would like to request that you quit calling and disturbing my wife and myself!! We are senior citizens born in 1938 and 1939 and we owe NO ONE ANYTHING! James' last four of social is [removed] and Vivian's is [removed]! Please discontinue these annoying phone calls.
- Caller: unknown only shows number on ID
- Scooby DooThese calls are for an organization that collects on bad checks for the State of Oregon. If you camped in a campground in Oregon, and paid by check there may have been an issue. Anything from the check was torn, got wet or, possibly any reason besides just a bounced check.
- Caller: State of Oregon

- Elspeth replies to James RubinThis is a forum for people who receive unknown/spam/scam calls. This forum cannot tell anyone to quit calling you - you will have to pick up the phone and tell them yourself. It's also not a good idea to post any personal information, since scammers regularly read these posts too. Have asked admin to redact your info.
- Annoyed but knowledgeableThese calls are annoying, but those of you who keep talking about being on the "do not call list" are idiots. That list is for telemarketers, debt collectors are not bound by it. Yes they should do their homework on wrong numbers (it has to be hard to collect the $ owed by calling the wrong number), but it is not always that simple to track down deadbeats. My suggestion is to be polite and professional, and tell them they have the wrong number. If the calls continue, get their business name and address, then let the caller know that they have the wrong number and that you will be notifying them of the same in writing and copying your state Attorney Generals office as well (make sure you actually write this letter and send it via certified mail. If that doesn't work file a full complaint with the AG. Of course, in the event you owe the bill, pay it ,and i guarantee the calls will stop. I am a former debt collector, this method worked well to stop the calls i was getting for some guy named Frank.

- SherThey have been calling my home number for a year. The recording asks for "value care". I have had at least 100 calls from them including Sundays. I have no idea what value care is and I have no debts. How do they get away with this?
- Caller: Aragon
- R JGot a phone message from this number to call them and that was about it. Did not give specific information just a number to call. Here's what a I think.....it's a fishing call from a bill collector that is calling any and all numbers for whom ever they are looking for (it's certainly not me). A lot of companies have bought old debt's for pennies on the dollar and use hard core collection agencies usually affiliated with law offices to collect old , written off and uncollected debt.
The statue of limitations is 7 years on collecting old debt. If you are getting these calls never admit who you are and never, never admit to owing anything or be willing to make any arrangements to pay. Once you pay on a debt that has been written off and or forgiven over 7 years old, you have now made it legally collectible. Even if you pay one dollar. Which they will try and get you to pay anything so that you lose the statue of limitations rights because once you pay the 7 years starts all over again. Never agree to pay anything to these collectors as they will harass you anywhere and everywhere they can find you day or night. Never admit who you are. And if they call you continually tell them to stop calling or you will sue for harassment.- Call type: Debt collector

- Jim ThompsonThese idiots leave me voicemails constantly (45 in the last couple of months), apparently trying to collect money from whoever had the number before me, which was over three years ago!! Their brilliant system doesn't leave more than a few seconds of incomprehensible mumbling in the message. I only know the number from the metadata. Tried calling it - no answer. Somebody should put these guys out of everyone's misery.
- Call type: Debt collector
- MelodyI called this number and it says it is Argon industries. They have been calling my mom multiple times a day and leaving a number and not a message. When I called, the answering machine asked for her account number. She does not have an account with them so obviously it is a solicitor!
